Social bookmarking, many or a few?
-
so I was wondering if you think a bit of software such as bookmarkingdemon (or similar) would be worth investment, or just a couple of "proper" accounts on digg, stumble, etc is a better route? As an agency would you create an account for each client, or just have one for your own agency and tag your clients within? Im not sure even how much impact it will have on SERPs?
thanks!

thanks for the reply, that was my thinking really - so its a case of registering almost a personal account, but then that links me to my company as well, as i dont want to be making up names, etc - bit of a tricky one really!

Hi Lawrence,
I definitely steer towards having a few accounts and doing things manually rather than relying on automation. You can certainly achieve volume with automation, but the number of times you are successful in making something popular is not going to be high. Of course, if you are simply going for volume and volume along, that is fine, but I also find that sort of activity has little impact on SERPs.
For true success in social media, you often have to maintain quality accounts that are neither tied to your client nor to your agency. People understandably dislike overt marketing on the social sites they go to for information and entertainment, so to be truly successful, your activity needs to be as genuine as you can make it. Again, this is assuming that you want high visibility on these sites, rather than just volume submissions.

Getting Authority Social Blogs to Index
We have a few authority blogs that I manage to help increase our brand awareness and build power to our website. We have Blogspot, Wordpress, Tumblr & Typepad. Our content get's a summary syndicated to our authority blogs with an attribution link back to the original post. I also manually check them one a month to make sure it looks good and the content syndicated correctly. I even add unique content to these blogs once in awhile. I recently realized that the majority of the pages are not indexing. I added the blogs to our GSC & Bing webmasters and submitted the sitemaps. This was done on December 11th, as of now some pages indexed in Google and Bing says the sitemaps are still pending... Blogspot - 32/100 pages indexed Wordpress - 34/81 pages indexed Tumblr - 4/223 pages indexed Typepad - 3/63 pages indexed Can anyone help me figure out why I can't get Google to index more pages or Bing to process the sitemaps timely?

One landing page or many?
I can not understand which is the best way to target similar keywords. Do the best way is create landingpage for each long tail keyword landing page or better one but with all included keywords? On the siste i have landingpages: 1. Metal doors 1.2. Steel doors for private houses 1.3. Metal doors for flats 1.4 Metal doors for technical rooms and so on. In Latvian language it sounds ok. Some time ago for other sites it worked good but now it just does not work. I see google meses these results up and seo performance is bad. Can you suggest correct structure? Thanks

Social Links through Link Shortners. Does it count?
We use link shortner services like Bitly, Goo.gl, etc. Does the post used while making use of such link shortner services counts as a social signal. Or should we post the complete website url pointing to each page while posting on social sites. Secondly, should we write a new description while posting on Social sites or just copy paste a few lines of original posts?

Can I use the same set of social media accounts on two sites?
I have a client who's company name / main site name is not his name. All his social accounts connected to his site are in his name. The site is verified with Google Places, etc. Now he asked for me to create a site for him in his own name with some similar info and a lot of new info. The million dollar question is do I use the same social media accounts on the new site? Facebook, twitter, youtube, etc? Will that hurt the organic rankings of the main site? I've seen this similar situation before. You may have someone who works at a large corporation who is mentioned on the main site has their own personal profile site just about them. Where they can go more in depth about things they are doing. If the other set of social account where in the company name it would be a no brainer to create new social accounts in his name. The issue is the main companies social accounts are already in his name.

Social signal
I wanted to know if comments on my blog count as social signals. I'm getting a minimal amount of shares and tweets but mainly having success with people commenting on the actual blog posts. I wanted to know if Google sees this as a social signal; not necessarily to help with rankings but to increase authority of my site. Thank you.

How Many Words in Content for Good SEO?
I have heard it's best to have 400+ words of content for strong SEO per page. I believe this is true for the most. I have a project in mind, however, that I am considering doing 100-200 words of content per page. This is for a glossary of terms for my industry, where I have a unique page for each term that describes what that term means w/ 1 image and a few links to related products. Is having just 100-200 words going to be enough? Each page will still be unique, original content. Or is it best to really try for longer articles? In other words, is there a general rule for # of words per page for search engines to see the page as valuable and unique and to give it good ranking? Give me a BIG THUMBS UP if you found this question useful. It won't cost you anything! Thanks!
