Main page link reduction
-
I am in the process of reducing the number of internal links from the homepage with the assumption that the more links I have the more "juice" goes to internal pages
I have two options since many of the links are costumer service related
1. create one link that leads to a costumer service page and place all the links their.
2. get all those links on the main page as nofollow links.
what are your opinions

Ah I see, if that's what you are wanting to do then yes there is benefit to removing links to unnecessary pages and putting these on a customer service tab.
I would also consider the effect this has on user experience, not just search engines. If those pages have useful information for customers then it is worth having them easily accessible.

Hello Ben
Thanks for the reply.
The reason for it is to stregthen the weight of the remaining links.
so based on your answer it is option one.
I see no reason that half of the strength transfered from the home page goes to linksthat I am no trying to impove ranking or get the found.
What do u think?

Hi Guy,
I would question why you were looking to do this in the first place. Removing these links will not have a positive effect on the "weight" of the homepage, this is not quite how it works.
Basically all of the weight of the page will be divided by the amount of links on it. So if you remove links the these internal pages, you will not make the homepage stronger, you will make the remaining links stronger.
In the case of nofollow, this has the effect of vanishing linkjuice. If you no followed half of your existing links, the followed links would still pass on the same weight as they did before, but the no followed links will now pass on nothing, effectively halving the weight passed on by the homepage. This is not the scenario you want.
So in answer to your question, I wouldn't actually do either of these, unless there is a different reason for you having to make these changes?
Hope that helps.

Nofollow links to own website pages
To preserve link juice should I "nofollow" links to about us and contact us pages that appear at the top of our navigation? I read this article - but I am not familiar with the authenticity: http://www.eminentseo.com/blog/navigation-menu-optimization-best-practices/ Thanks Mike

Too many on-page links
Hi, I've apparently got too many on-page links on 79 of my webpages. The majority of these pages are category pages, like this: https://www.turnkeymortgages.co.uk/mortgage-advice/mortgages/... so, what's a person to do? Obviously the page would be useless without the links. Should I just ignore these 'errors'? Or is there something else I should do? I don't want to appear manipulative by labelling them nofollow... Thanks, Amelia

Keyword Appearing on Home Page - Moz Page Grader
Hi Today I entered www.partydomain.co.uk through the Moz Page Grader and found that the Home Page is Ranked B. I noticed that an Area we could improve on is the amount of times we are using our main keyword "Fancy Dress" on the home page. Please can you take a look at www.partydomain.co.uk and scroll to the bottom of the page were the tabs are containing losts of content. I am thinking about removing all of thoose Tabs. Our Competitors dont have any content as such on the home page and are ranking higher than Party Domain for "fancy dress" What do you think ? remove all the tabs to be like the others that rank better? Or cut the text right down ? Thanks Adam

Product links on homepage
Hi, I;m wondering if it really does aid SEO or even hinder it now to have lists of top selling products as links on the base of each page. This was recommended to us sometime ago by a consultant so we did it but is it outdated? I'm concerned it may penalise our pages now by creating too many links? opinions appreciated. wwww.gourmetdirect.com and scroll down to see what I mean
