How to increase the traffic ?
-
Hi Everyone,
I am a bit a newbie in SEO and I read different articles and comments regarding the SEO but I am a bit stuck to get traffic through www.organicur.com.
It's a really new website build through Prestashop (1-2 month).
I used the tool keyword analysis to look after keywords not to competitive.
I used the on-page optimization of Seomoz until to have A for every pages and I have started to build backlinks.
But the traffic doesn't improve at all.
Does that mean my keywords are not relevant enough ? Do I need to wait and carry on the links building.
Do I need to go through PPC ?
Thanks a lot for your reply,
K

Hi,
Thanks. I know there is a competitor for organic pharmacy but just one compare for organic beauty products and less competitive as well. Perhaps, it wasn't a such great idea to target this one.
Thanks again,
K

Hi Karine,
One of the things that's most glaring after just spending a few minutes taking a look at the site is that the first piece of the title tag on the home page is 'organic pharmacy'. Quickly looking at the Google Keyword Tool, as a phrase match, 'organic pharmacy' receives approximately 2400 searches in the US monthly. I'd suggest that's fairly low given the types of keywords that would be relevant to you. Low search volume doesn't necessarily mean low competition, but in this case it does.
What's more surprising, is that 'organic pharmacy' appears to be a competitor. If that's a conscious move, I'm not sure if I would agree with that. Buy PPC ads on their name instead if you want to be showing up when someone does a search for their name. The CPC you will pay for that word will be much less than what you would pay for your head terms.
I'm a big proponent of PPC for a variety of reasons, so I'd recommend it, especially for a new website. Beyond driving qualified traffic to your site, it will give you a much better idea as to the real search volume taking place for your target keywords. You'll also be able to get an idea as to the conversion rate of the website on the whole, and for specific target keywords. Armed with the knowledge of your conversion rates, keyword search volume, and the percentage of clicks you can expect based on a given position based on the CTR curve (image attached), it can give you an idea as to the value of optimizing your site for specific keywords.

Hi Karim,
Thank you for the advises. I will continue the work

Hi Karine
New websites will take time to develop good rankings so do not be too surprised if you are not getting the volumes of search engine traffic you were expecting at such an early stage. Continue with your link building activities as this will have a positive impact on your rankings.
I have had a look at the competition around the phrase 'organic beauty products' which you have included in your homepage title tag and there are a lot of established websites competing for this term with decent PA and DA scores.
In terms of improving your on-page optimisation, the phrase 'organic beauty products' and 'organic pharmacy' which I am presuming are important for your website are not included anywhere in your homepage body content, which will make it difficult for your homepage to rank for them.
If you have the budget for PPC and the product margins/website conversion rate are strong enough to make it profitable I would recommend it. It can be a great tool for driving traffic whilst your organic presence is still growing but also for ongoing revenue generation as the PPC ads well by attracting a high proportion of clicks for relevant search terms.
On another note, make sure you are checking the search volumes on the keywords you are targeting. If there is limited search volume you will only see limited traffic even if you rank number 1 for the term.
Hope this helps

Hi Karine,
Here are a few ideas, obviously this is early days so there is a lot more than this to do.
Looking at the site I would say for your two main category pages you need more rich text content relevant to the product category. Using images like the homepage rotating images is fine but try to have the text parts as CSS text rather than images so that Google can read it, or at least a good descriptive alt text per image in this section.
Your page titles are too long, focus on the main product keyword, this should be fairly straight-forward, do product type - product name - sitebrand, keep them below 70 characters.
The site at the moment doesn't have a lot of products, but no doubt you will build that up. However, it is a competitive area, so rather than just going for less-competitive keywords using a keyword tool that everybody uses, think about your offering and why someone should visit your site rather than go elsewhere.
You really need to have in mind what your unique selling points are and who your target audience is, then create titles and content that are relevant. Segment your offering and target specific customer types and you'll naturally find less competitive (& long-tail) potential search terms.
Yes you need to continue link-building, but do read up on the various guides and posts here about what makes a good inbound link - Quality over quantity every time.
As a new site using PPC is not a bad route to drive initial traffic, you can set limits on how much you want to spend and your type of visitor will hopefully be loyal because of your great products and service and return again and again. However, once again be aware this is a competitive area so choose your keywords for your campaign carefully. Once again this is when knowing your market and audience helps you target the right keywords.
The point is coming into a mature market like organic care products is never going to be a quick success, you need to think about getting the word out through any channel you can, good luck.

Will Reduced Bounce Rate, Increased Pages/Session, Increased Session Duration-RESULT IN BETTER RANKING?
Our relaunched website has a much lower bounce rate (66% before, now 58%) increased pages per session (1.89 before, now 3.47) and increased session duration (1:33 before, now 3:47). The relaunch was December 20th. Should these improvements result in an improvement in Google rank? How about in MOZ authority? We have not significantly changed the content of the site but the UX has been greatly improved. Thanks, Alan

Is it OK to dynamically serve different content to paid and non-paid traffic from the same URL?
Hi Moz! We're trying to serve different content to paid and non-paid visitors from the same URL. Is this black hat? Here's the reason we want to do this -- we're testing a theory that paid ads boost organic rankings. This is something we saw happen to a client and we want to test this further. But we have to have a different UX that's more sparse and converts better for paid. Thanks for reading!

Site re-design, full site domain A/B test, will we drop in rankings while leaking traffic
We are re-launching a client site that does very well in Google. The new site is on a www2 domain which we are going to send a controlled amount of traffic to, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% to 100% over a 5 week period. This will lead to a reduction in traffic to the original domain. As I don't want to launch a competing domain the www2 site will not be indexed until 100% is reached. If Google sees the traffic numbers reducing over this period will we drop? This is the only part I am unsure of as the urls and site structure are the same apart from some new lower level pages which we will introduce in a controlled manner later? Any thoughts or experience of this type of re-launch would be much appreciated. Thanks Pete

Question about putting high traffic keywords in my Primary navigation menu.
Hello, I seem to be having a bit of a dilemma with making a crucial site architecture decision about which high traffic keyword I should put in my primary navigation menu. I am the owner of a computer repair business that I am currently re branding out of necessity for a few reasons. My existing business website has been established for the past 5 years now and I do all of the SEO and have been on the 1st Page of GOOGLE for anything computer repair related since day 1 however, like I said am re branding my company and migrating from Joomla to WordPress so it is a great time to make some positive and effective changes to my site architecture. I am going to be using the Silo Site Architecture on the new Site and I have a very firm working knowledge on the process but I seem to have hit a snag or dilemma with one of my Primary Navigation Categories for the Silo Theme. My specif question is this please.. Doing keyword research the Keyword Phrase "Computer Repair" is the most highly searched for keyword phrase for people that have computer related problems (naturally) and Ideally "Computer Repair" should be one of my Main Menu Navigation Silo Category Themes. But... here lies the problem.... If I go with "Computer Repair" in the (Main Nav Menu) then although it gets - 823,000 Local Monthly Searches I would be opening myself up to a potential problem because normally, most people associate the Phrase Computer Repair with Desktop Computer Repair. So in essence I would be forced to use an alternate other than "Computer Repair" for the Desktop Computer Repair structure in the Silo Theme (Sidebar Nav Menu). The Keyword Phrase "Desktop Repair" gets only - 12,100 Local Monthly Searches so basically no one uses the Search Phrase "Desktop Repair. when they are looking to get their computer repaired. I hope that I did not just confuse you? Still confused? Continue reading and I will dissect my psycho babble for you..... "The Semantic Historical Logic" Historically, a Desktop has always been referred to as a computer. Hence the reason why even still today, when our "Desktop" has problems and we need to get it fixed, we Search for "Computer Repair". Why is that? That's a very good question and here is "exactly" why. Long before we had Laptops, Netbooks, Tablets and Smart Phones we had the all encompassing and mighty "Computer" that allowed us to connect to the rest of the world. It was not until Laptops actually came about where there was a need to assign an actual _"Classification System"_and all mighty and powerful "Computer" became a "Desktop Computer**"!!! ** So, there you have it. This is the reason why "Computer Repair" is synonymous with "Desktop Repair" and why "NO ONE" searches for desktop repair when their Desktop Computer is broken! ============================================================= ACTUAL EXAMPLES WITH SCREEN SHOTS BELOW! If I go with Example A: I have the the Highest Traffic Keyword Phrase in my Mast Head (Main Nav Menu) but would be forced to use Desktop Repair to classify (Desktop Repair) in (Sidebar Nav Menu) instead using the keyword phrase "Computer Repair" to classify Desktop Repair. Example A: Main Nav Theme Category = "Computer Repair" = 823,000 Monthly Loc Child Pages/ Categories = -Desktop Repair = **12,100 ** Monthly Loc -Laptop Repair = 165,000 Monthly Loc -Tablet Repair = 165,000 Monthly Loc -Remote Desktop = 1,000,000 Monthly Loc I am using WordPress - (Pages / Child Pages) not Categories & Posts! So, as you can see from (Example A:) above, not being able to use the keyword phrase "Computer Repair" to classify the "Desktop Repair" section kind of opens me up for failure to a good extent as most of my business is done on regular desktop computers which people generally think "Computer Repair" when they are searching to have their Desktop Repaired. ============================================================= Example B: Main Nav Theme Category = **"Computer Service" = **246,000 Monthly Loc Child Pages/ Categories = -Computer Repair = 823,000 Monthly Loc -Laptop Repair = 165,000 Monthly Loc -Tablet Repair = 165,000 Monthly Loc -Remote Desktop = 1,000,000 Monthly Loc I am using WordPress - (Pages / Child Pages) not Categories & Posts! Now, with (Example B:) even though the keyword Phrase "Computer Service" is not the more favorable item to have as the Silo Theme Category in the Main Navigation Menu, we can see that it is much more favorable in terms of Local Monthly Searches over the just about non searched for phrase "Desktop Repair" So as you see, I have a bit of a dilemma that a more experienced SEO could counsel me on. The question is, through your experience, which scenario would you see as more favorable for the site Architecture example A: or example B: This brings me to my next question that also creates some confusion for me. If you say I think (Example B:) would be my better bet what would you recommend that I do with the URL Structure if "Computer Service" is the Parent Page for the Silo Theme? Example: I am using the /%category%/%postname%/ permalink structure for the Silo Site Architecture for the (Blog Section) only - and am using WP Pages and Child Pages for my Silo Content for my Services (Not Posts). Would this URL be a problem in Googles eyes or a customers eyes and be perceived as SPAMMY ... http://www.pcmedicsoncall.com/computer-services/computer-repair/ More than likely, I would say yes because it looks that way to me! My question to you in regards to the link structure above is, If I take the "Computer Service" page and change the "SLUG" to (services) yes it will look better but... will that effectively work against me??? EDIT: ^^ Answered my own question on the Services deal directly above. ^^ Thank you for reading my very long winded questions but I am pretty detailed and I think that the better that I explained it the less writing and guessing what I meant would be better for all concerned (typing wise) Thank you very much and I look forward to your insightful expertise and wisdom. I need help with a local tax lawyer website that just doesn't get traffic
We've been doing a little bit of linkbuilding and content development for this site on and off for the last year or so: http://www.olsonirstaxattorney.com/ We're trying to rank her for "Denver tax attorney," but in all honesty we just don't have the budget to hit the first page for that term, so it doesn't surprise me that we're invisible. However, my problem is that the site gets almost NO traffic. There are days when Google doesn't send more than 2-3 visitors (yikes). Every site in our portfolio gets at least a few hundred visits a month, so I'm thinking that I'm missing something really obvious on this site. I would expect that we'd get some type of traffic considering the amount of content the site has, (about 100 pages of unique content, give or take) and some of the basic linkbuilding work we've done (we just got an infographic published to a few decent quality sites, including a nice placement on the lawyer.com blog). However, we're still getting almost no organic traffic from Google or Bing. Any ideas as to why? GWMT doesn't show a penalty, doesn't identify any site health issues, etc. Other notes: Unbeknownst to me, the client had cut and pasted IRS newsletters as blog posts. I found out about all this duplicate content last November, and we added "noindex" tags to all of those duplicated pages. The site has never been carefully maintained by the client. She's very busy, so adding content has never been a priority, and we don't have a lot of budget to justify blogging on a regular basis AND doing some of the linkbuilding work we've done (guest posts and infographic).

Can SEO increase a page's Authority? Or can Authority only be earned via #RCS?
Hi all. I am asking this question to purposefully provoke a discussion. The CEO of the company where I am the in-house SEO sent me a directive this morning. The directive is to take our Website from a PR3 site to a PR5....in 6 months. Now, I know Page Rank is a bit of a deprecated concept, but I'm sure you would agree that "Authority" is still crucial to ranking well. When he first sent me the directive it was worded like this "I want a plan in place with the goal being to "beat" a specific competitor in 6 months." When I prodded him to define "beat," i.e. did he mean "outrank" for every keyword, he answered that he wanted our site to have the same "Authority" that this particular competitor has. So I am left pondering this question: Is it possible for SEO to increase the authority of a page? Or does "Authority" come from #RCS? The second part of this question is what would you do if you were in my shoes? I have been devoting huge amounts of time on technical SEO because the Website is a mess. Because I've dedicated so much time to technical issues, link-earning has taken a back seat. In my mind, why would anyone want to link to a crappy site that has serious technical issues (slow load times, no persistent cart, lots of 404s, etc)? Shouldn't we make the site awesome before trying to get people to link to us? Given this directive to improve our site's "Authority" - would you scrap the technical SEO and go whole hog into a link-earning binge, or would you hunker down and pound away at the technical issues? Which one would you do first if you couldn't do both at the same time? Comments, thoughts and insights would be greatly appreciated.

Traffic drop off and page isn't indexed
In the last couple weeks my impressiona and clicks have dropped off to about half what it used to be. I am wondering if Google is punishing me for something... I also added two new pages to my site in the first week of June and they still aren't indexed. In the past it seemed like new pages would be indexed in a couple days. Is there any way to tell if Google is unhappy with my site? WMT shows 3 server errors, 3 Access denied, and 122 not found errors. Could those not found pages be killing me? Thanks for any advise, Greg www.AntiqueBanknotes.com
