Ecommerce tracking problem with multiple domains on 1 web property
-
We recently launched 13 product marketing sites based on a Wordpress Multisite setup. To track all 13 sites we decided to use one web property, so we can use the same tracking code for all domains.
To track the sites seperately, we set up a profile for each product site with a hostname filter. This works well for most stats, but eCommerce tracking is where the problem starts.
Per profile we obviously want to track the products purchases on that website only. What happens now is that all purchases from all product sites are tracked on all profiles.
How can we change this? Should I alter the eCommerce tracking code or can I fix this with an additional filter per profile?
Thanks for your help Mozzers!

Hey Pieter,
I just saw this post on the Google Analytics blog and I was reminded of your question. Looks like some sort of solution is going live tomorrow.

Pieter, The fact that the hostname filter doesn't apply to the eComm transactions is news to me. That's very odd on Google's part. I suppose they process the _addTrans calls differently? I'm out of ideas, save for having to manually segment once you're looking in that report by hostname. Sorry! Do update this thread if you uncover any other way to take care of it. Mike

Hi Mike,
Thanks for your support!
Purchases take place on 13 different hostnames. When I view the Product performance report (under Conversions > eCommerce), I see purchases from all hostnames, despite a host name filter at profile level. When I make an advanced segment by the same hostname however, it only shows the purchases on that domain (like it should be). It seems to mee that the profile hostname filter does not play well with the eCommerce tracking...
Does this ring any bells?

Pieter,
Your logic sounds good, and I love the data clarity you're after with those profiles.
Are all the purchases taking place on the same domain? When you navigate to the content report for the receipt page, if you select the hostname as a secondary dimension, what does it say?
Your hostname filter should've bucketed all traffic properly, eComm transaction or otherwise.

Hi Sanket,
We use one and the same tracking id for 13 sites.
This makes it easy to view aggregated statistics in one profile, but also enables a per site profile to only view one specific site.

Hi,
Can to you track a 13 web property for different sites??? Please elaborate your question because i did not get what you trying too say exactly.

Excluding Cookieless Static Content Sub-domain from GA/GTM
For the purposes of this question our ecommerce site url is www.ecommerce.com Our TLD is ecommerce.com We have, following advice from Yslow, Pagespeed and others, moved our static content to a subdomain - static.ecommerce.com We have Google Analytics and Enhance Ecommerce installed, fired from GTM. The cookieDomain setting in GTM is 'auto' At present cookies are being attached to our static resources. What changes do I need to make to to prevent this happening? Many thanks Julian

Analytics Tracking in China
I am setting up a Chinese domain and I was wondering if anyone has experience with using Google Analytics for tracking in the country and if it really works or if Baidu is the better solution for the website. The website will be hosted in the US so I don't know if that makes any difference with getting around "The Great Firewall". I would prefer to us GA if possible because I am extremely familiar with the platform but I am more concerned with getting accurate tracking data for the site. Thank you in advance and any help would be greatly appreciated. Brooke

Track subdomains in the same analytics property/view
Hello to everyone, this is my first question (kind of a newbie here :-D). I have a website that spans over 4 subdomains + the main domain and I'd like to have a place where I can see the total page views, events and goal completions. Main domain is langhe.net, and subdomains are eventi.langhe.net, servizi.langhe.net, shop.langhe.net, about.langhe.net. The website is based on wordpress and I'm using google analytics for wordpress by yoast as analytics plugin. The configuration of the plugin is as follows: all the website have the same UA-XXXXXXXX code The Subdomain Traking field (setDomainName) is filled with .langhe.net Cross-Domain tracking is enabled Cross-Domain Primary Domain (setDomainName) is langhe.net Cross-Domain Tracking, Other Domains field is filled with: about.langhe.net, eventi.langhe.net, servizi.langhe.net, shop.langhe.net. In the GA property I've created an Advanced Custom Filter configured this way: Field A -> Extract A = hostname (.*) Field B -> Extract B = request URI (.*) Output To -> Constructor = request URI $A1$B1 Field A Required: yes Field B Required: No Override Output Field: yes Case Sensitive: no I was wondering it this is the best way of doing it, or if there are other "best practice" ways to obtain what I'm looking for (for example with this configuration it's become quite difficult to separate the traffic sources for each website). Thank you in advance 🙂

Links from PA/DA of 1
My immediate thought is that a link from a website that has a PA/DA of 1 for both or either metric would be absolutely worthless, but I just wanted to make sure. Could this also be from it being recently indexed? Also is there a rule of thumb that anybody knows, or tries to follow at least? Obliviously the higher the better, but for example; A PA/DA of 15 and below is SPAM A PA/DA of 30 and above is GOOD A PA/DA of 50 is GREAT PA/DA of 80 is AMAZING PA/DA of 100 is GODTIER

How to not track mobile redirects in Google Analytics
If a user is on a mobile device and comes to our home page, http://www.darden.virginia.edu/web/Home/ they are redirected to http://m.darden.virginia.edu/web/Home/. We want a way to remove all the redirects from our Google analytics reports. More specifically we do not want to include the the page view of http://www.darden.virginia.edu/web/Home/ in our page view count when the user is on a mobile device. How do we do that?
