Is social media going to be the king of SEO?
-
Hi,
Bit of a discussion really, every article out at the moment talking about SEO mentions how Social Media will take over in 2013.
Is this really the case, should every SEO be focusing a large amount of time of Social Media?
Far as im concerned I do a few things, try and build the social lists on different networks such as Facebook & Twitter also trying to get the list to engage with my posts and secondly social sharing from onsite content. Thats it at the moment.

Yeah, if you have got your target audience right and taken time to build a relationship with appropriate influencers I think you are on to a winner in any niche...
-
I agree, I will be using social media lists to help promote my content it seems a very effective way of bringing new content out onto the web.
-
I don't know whether it will ever be king of SEO, but in terms of gaining exposure for your content then I think it is very important and this will keep increasing as do the number of active users on the main social networks.
Links are still the currency of the realm and social media is a bank - you need a good relationship with the bank of social media in order to make a withdrawal!!
-
I think social will become an important ranking factor if it hasnt already.
However "Links" will never go away as this is what the algo is built on.
social media is a great way to build authority for your business and share your content.
If you create a really good article and share it across various social channels then you will have more of a chance of people linking back to it...

Is there a functional difference between the "google +1" button and the "G+"? Has there been any conclusive research done regarding their affect on SEO?
Google used to offer a +1 button but that seems to have gone away in favor of the new google +1 button or the G+ buttons. I am trying to determine which button I should add to pages on our site but since I am most importantly doing it for SEO impact, i want to make sure I add the correct button...if it matters. Thanks

Social Management Software
Hi all Just wondering, what service do you use to manage multiple social profiles ( in excess of 50). Curious as we have used http://commun.it for twitter accounts, but gets tedious as we need to log in on several different accounts, although great service Also use Hootsuite but reporting is terrible ... Really looking for some platform that offers lots of account management, building networks while offers decent reporting. And preferably some platform that expands beyond Twitter and FB only Thanks in advance John

SEO Terms Defined
I am having a really hard time clearly defining this for folks, I am hoping for some help here. Directory Websites: sites such as www.abcdirectory.com, these are typically lower quality manual submission websites with little user interaction Citation Sites: These are websites with business location listing such as Manta.com or yellowpages.com and involve locations with no links but the citations are valuable to ranking Local Search Sites: These are sites like Google Places, Yahoo Local, Yelp, etc and they sometimes offer reviews and user interaction, and are a hybrid local/social SEO component, you can create listings on these sites but if you want them to appear in search you need interaction with the page/listing.

Pintrest and SEO
Can a company benefit from Pinrest? and if so what type of Company? I know that some companies can for example, if I sold hair supplies and I placed images of hair styles when a user clicks on my picture it directs them to my site which is relevant I know they will likely interact, However if I offer a service like an SEO service, can Pintrest hurt my SEO efforts by creating a higher bounce rate. Someone clicks on my picture or repins it when they get to my site they lose interest. Does this influence my results for better or worse? and I know that Pintrest is nofollow, so I don't expect to get any link juice from an image link.
