Should product-pages with different currencies have different URLs?
-
Here is a question that should be of interest for small online merchants selling internationally in multiple currencies. When, based on geolocation, a product-page is served with different currencies, should a product-page have a different URL for each currency? Thanks.
-
Hi Nakul, thanks for your feedback.
What about the markup for multilingual content that could be used to indicate that the product-page with prices in GBP (at a certain URL) is the sister of the same product-page with prices in USD (at a different URL)? Wouldn't it help to get more "regional" traffic from Google?
Thanks.

Agreed, displaying prices via GeoLocation is definitely the way to go
-
I think it makes sense to let the user select the currency and see the changed price or use the geolocation to automatically display that price. It would be a considerable amount of time and effort to try and make the different set of pages unique, so in short it does not make sense to make different urls for different currencies. However, if you plan in the future that you are trying to translate the content in other languages as well, then it's a different story. In that case you are targeting different countries and it's best served by country level domains for the countries you are targeting. I hope this helps.

Currency versus location
Hi Mozzers, I have a client that is rebuilding their eCommerce store. We are deliberating how to map the URL structure. My advice is and has always been to have language as the structure so the UK and US markets in English but separate pages with href=lang tags so the engines rank the correct page, the French page in French and tagged correct, German in German etc etc This way we have a clear page to optimise and build links into and the users select the currency ($ / £ / € or Ruble) They may want to have it by Currency, so rather than /UK or /US it would be /dollar, /sterling etc etc Have you any experience with both structures and what are the pros and cons as it seems clear to me language should be the way foreward They are using Magento 2 as well if that influences anything. Thanks Gareth This presents are tougher landscape to optimise for I feel and less clear for users

Pages with Duplicate Page Title
Blog - FDM Group has duplicate page title for all blog posts. We also have multiple localized versions of pages, so the titles are seen as duplicate. Possible resolutions? Thanks in advance.

Can I point some rel alternate pages to a 404?
Hi everyone, I'm just setting up a series international websites and need to use rel="alternate" to make sure Google indexes the right thing and doesn't hit us with duplicate content. The problem is that rel="alternate" is page specific, and our international websites aren't exact copies of the main UK website. We've taken out the ecommerce module and a few blog categories because they aren't relevant. Can I just blanket implement rel="alternate" and let it sometimes point to a 404 on the alternate websites? Or is Google going to find that a bit weird? Thanks,

Lightbox on Home Page for Geo-Targeting
Hi -- I have a client with various international versions of their site. By adding a lightbox to their U.S. home page enabling the user to select their preferred translation (and cookie them)....does this have any negative SEO implications? It seems like a better alternative than the splash page they were using, but just want to be sure. Thanks!

Targeting Different Countries... One Site or Separate?
I have a client who has 3 ecommerce sites. They are somewhat differentiated but for the most part sell the same stuff. Luckily 2 of them are quite authoritative, old and rank reasonably well. Most of the visitors and sales come from the US. He wants to start targeting Europe, Mexico and Canada. What are your suggestions for doing this? Are we better targeting on the main domains? Not really sure how to do that? Should we use a subdomain and a new store front for each geo? Should we use a .co.uk .co.mx and .co.ca each with a unique storefront? It looks like we are moving to a Magento platform so setting up multiple storefronts on a single database is not a big issue. Anyone have any experience with this?

I have a site that has 65 different versions of itself.
I've just started managing a site that serves over 50 different countries and the entire web enterprise is being flagged for duplicate content because there is so much of it. What's the best approach to stop this duplicate content, yet serve all of the countries we need to?
