PA and DA
-
Over the past couple of monthly updates I have notice both coming down a bit even though nothing has changed that should affect them. Anyone else notice this? Perhaps it is attributable to better metrics?

thanks very much Keri

Here's a help page about our DA calculations that may help http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/domain-authority. The short answer is that DA can change because of the way we calculate DA and because our index changes each update.

Think of these metrics as relational. As Google tweaks it' algorithm, based on what's going on in the world of search, OSE/SEOmoz might update the criteria of discounting certain kinds of links, and the flow of internal and external link juice. Their dataset also is expanding and as they read and discover more data, the overall metrics change, impacting the scores. I would relate them to your competition and see how you are doing to get a big picture rather then worrying too much about the movement within your website. It's very very useful data regardless.
I hope this helps.

The metrics are in a constant state of update I'd guess.

Why Would My Page Have a Higher PA and DA, Links & On-Page Grade & Still Not Rank?
The Search Term is "Alcohol Ink" and our client has a better page authority, domain authority, links to the page, and on-page grade than those in the SERP for spaces 5-10 and we're not even ranked in the top 51+ according to Moz's tracker. The only difference I can see is that our URL doesn't use the exact text like some of the 5-10 do. However, regardless of this, our on-page grade is significantly higher than the rest of them. The one thing I found was that there were two links to the page (that we never asked for) that had a spam score in the low 20's and another in the low 30's. Does anyone have any recommendations on how to maybe get around this? Certainly, a content campaign and linking campaign around this could also help but I'm kind of scratching my head. The client is reputable, with a solid domain age and well recognized in the space so it's not like it's a noob trying to get in out of nowhere.

Site Not Indexing After 2 Weeks - PA at 1
Hi Moz Community! I'm working as a digital marketing consultant for an organization that uses us for their online registration - we do not manage their web page. The issue that I am hoping you might have some ideas on is that their SERPS still aren’t making much of a recovery since they revamped their site in mid August. I ran a MOZ campaign for them and despite that they (eventually) got all their 301s in place, they submitted an updated sitemap to Google, aren’t hitting any crawl errors, and have a working robots.txt over two-thirds of their site pages don’t seem to be indexing. MOZ is giving most of them a Page Authority of 1, and when I login to their GWT, it’s showing me that only 3 pages have been indexed of the 315 URLs submitted. I know Google doesn’t make any guarantees in index update timelines, but 2+ weeks seems like a long time 😞 Their website is https://www.northshoreymca.org/. The site has a DA of 43 but most of the pages on the main nav are still at 1. They gave me permission to share in this forum because we're really trying to figure out a recovery strategy. Any thoughts or ideas as to what might be causing this? Is there anything else that you think I should check or that might be causing an issue? Is it possible that Google is just taking this long to index their page? Note: this page is built with Drupal. THANK YOU!

Domain Change behind Drop in DA from 49 to 9?
Hi, We have recently gone through a domain change and thought we had done this by the book. We 301'd the old site extensively and optimized our new site as best we can. All done with the help of a leading agency. However our old site had a DA score of 49 and checking our new site's DA almost 3 months after the changes its scores 9! Furthermore with rankings 2-3wks after the change we saw small drops (1-3 positions), 3-10 weeks saw more gradual slides but remaining page 1 for most terms. Currently some core terms are slipping back to page 2. I have the below question on this and would like you to get your opinions and views. After a well planned domain change would its be expected that the DA score would remain in the same region or is a drop like this normal? Is the domain change the most likely cause of this drop or are there other factors that may cause this? What is the best approach for trouble shooting this situation?

Realistic Expectation for my DA/ PR ranking within a year?
My website is brand new, has an A Grade on-page optimization report for my two keywords. Now, the problem that all of my competitors have an average Domain Authority of 50 with a Page Authority of 40. Now, I don't want to enter something I just cannot win, what is a Realistic Expectation for my DA ranking within a three months? Just for clarification, I try to build 5 new links a week, update my blog and I am quite active within forums.

Twitter DA
Recently notice that the domain authority for twitter is shown as 8 instead of the 100 that it used to. Is this a glitch or an actual change?

Which link url placement to buy - High PR vs. High PA?
I'm about to buy one directory link (just the one!) but can't decide which URL to place my link on in that directory because of the varying metrics - which is better of the below (bearing in mind my own site is still a PR0 sitewide)? www.exampledirectory.com/categoryA/subtategory1/

Metrics: 21 linking domains, PA 44, DA 59, PR0 www.exampledirectory.com/categoryA/
Metrics:1 linking domain, PA 35, DA 59, PR5 I know PR is no longer relevant and usually ignore this metric (except for possible penalties) and just focus on Seomoz toolbar metrics, but as my own site itself is PA:37 and DA:28 homepage but PR0 completely sitewide (over 6 months old but relatively new site), I thought this might help to balance things. Thanks for your advice.0
