What holds more SEOweight, posts or blogrolls?
-
Was just wondering what hold more SEO weight: a post or blogroll? Additionally, are static html pages better to have links from or blogs?
Thanks,
Jimmy

_Links from Blogroll and blog posts, unless they look like they are being acquired naturally, have some risks associated with it. Blog roll links seem to carry more risk than links coming from blog posts links. It is better if you go for blog post links and use as many variations of keywords as possible. _

Depends on the content of either. Blogrolls are normally just syndicated content and I would attribute less value to those. Having said that, some blog posts are just as bad and don't necessarily contain valuable content.

Since Google's Penguin update earlier this year, it is generally accepted now that links from within blog posts are more valuable than blogroll links.
This is because blogroll links and other sitewide links, such as footer links, have a higher likelihood of being paid for, or otherwise manipulated. In fact, many webmasters hit by Penguin have requested the removal of blogroll links. Links from within blog posts, on the other hand, look more natural.
There is no real distinction between links from "static pages" and links from posts. If a page has been around for a while it is likely that the page will have accrued more Page Authority than a newly-published blog post. On the other hand, a blog post has the advantage of being current, and may itself accrue authority over time.

Relaunching a site that has had thousands of posts linking to the same 20 articles. How to properly setup internal linking?
I'm in the process of relaunching a music news site (www.prefixmag.com) that once did quite well in search (over a million monthly search visits in its prime). The site got crushed by Panda, etc. and we stopped updating it. I'm starting to do more research but one thing that I noticed was we have modules in the right rail (desktop) that are found on all of our article pages that point to the same posts. (Edit: Added attachment. The links in the right rail under Editor Picks, Features, News, Media, etc. are found on every page of the site). In other words, we have thousands of posts that all link to the same 20 or so articles. Should we not do this if we're not trying to emphasize these posts in Google? Assuming this is the case, what is the proper way to do internal linking? Do we simply setup a sitemap and link to it? I'm hoping to have the thousands of articles we've published over the years have a chance to rank in search again. Also, we have a number of posts that are thin in content should those pages not be submitted in the sitemap? Thanks in advance! 2KmX0

Blog posts with currently no links question
Hi, If a blog has 100's of quality blog posts all with PR 1-3 but has no internal linking going on, what kind of affect would it have if someone was to go through all the pages using mixed anchor text (where it fits) back to money pages. Would generating 100's of internal links from a blog in a matter of days cause problems / flag up to SE's. I'm guessing it would be best to stagger it over a long period of time. Cheers

Posting on Private Forums?
I've registered a forum and they have private and general sections. I was wondering my posts on private forums with a link gives any value to my website? Does Google accept links from those websites? Thanks

Guest Posts on Established Blogger/Wordpress.com sites
How much value do you put on guest post opportunities on blogspot.com or wordpress.com sites (or similar). If the blog is established, gets good readership and traffic, do you consider it to be as useful as a privately hosted blog? I'm not really looking for a definitive answer here, just people's thoughts. Cheers, Bede

Where/should I post my press release/articles on my own website?
I have started a long-term article marketing campaign and press release distribution. I will have about 4 articles and press releases in total every month. Although the press releases will not be self-promotional, sometimes they will be talking about a certain product that we unveil. The question is, due to the high quality of these press releases, should I put them on my website as well as publish them on third party websites? If so, because they target a specific service/product which we already have a dedicated page on our website, wouldn't that put Google in the position of choosing between the two pages? I was thinking to put them on my blog and link internally from there with the keywords that I target on those pages as anchor text. The same question for articles. Any suggestions?

Pay Per Post Blog Reviews - Does It Work?
I have come to realize that several SEO companies are basing their entire link strategy on paying bloggers to write a review about their client's website that also includes a link back to their website. I am thinking about adding this as part of my link building campaign. I am thinking about acquiring approximately 15 links a month from PR 2-5 blogs that pertain to my industry and target audience. I am thinking of using the network payperpost.com to find good blogs. First question: Does this type of link building work well? Second question: Is 15 links a month from PR 2-5 blogs (writing on my subject matter) enough to help out?
