Will PPC affect Organic?
-
Is anyone familiar with a relation between Google PPC and Organic? We started a PPC campaign recently and our organic results spiked up at the same time for phrases that we are bidding on.
-
1- We have run ppc accounts with 30k monthly spend that have no organic traffic.
2- The backlash that google would get if this where true is too high from a risk/ reward assisment for me to believe it.
3- I do believe ppc helps SEO in some cases but from a content amplification point of view

For anybody saying no, PPC does not affect Organic, do you have any proof?
With the way Google are going with (not provided), basically trying to get everyone to use PPC it really would not surprise me if PPC does in fact boost your organic rankings, that would benefit Google as it would encourage more people to use PPC and Google tends to do exactly what will benefit itself.
That being said there are many indirect factors from operating PPC that could increase organic performance, as mentioned by some of the other guys here.
I'd love to see a study which could definitively answer this!

Ppc does not effect seo results. However if you do not tag your ppc destination urls, google analytics will place this traffic in "direct traffic" category. Make sure that you enable auto tagging in Adwords and in AdCenter you need to make sure to use utm codes in your destination urls or this traffic will be placed in direct traffic category. Also since you will be generating additional traffic, you hopefully will be receiving social shares, so you need to make sure that have are tagging tour social sharing buttons, or this traffic will be lumped into dirafik traffic bucket.
Last month there was a good seomoz blog post on this topic. http://www.seomoz.org/blog/why-google-analytics-tagging-matters-whiteboard-friday

No they dont have a direct effect but if you have a great content etc a rise in ppc traffic can cause a rise in shares and links which can cause a rise in organic results. I have clients that do heavy ppc and no seo and have no organic traffic.
-
We've seen this happen as well.
-
Interesting that you too have seen this.
-
That's what I always thought as well. But it happened on different days... for different campaigns that went live. There is a brief spike and then it levels off again.
-
According to Google, no. I will add that every time I start a PPC account and campaign for a site, its organic rankings jump up . . .
No, I'm not a conspiracy theorist . . . really.
-
No, there is no direct effect that PPC has on organic. At least that's what Google says. There are some indirect effects of having a PPC campaign that I've seen. For instance on campaigns where our clients already have 1st page placement, their organic CTR increases when their PPC campaign is running. But I would guess that the jump you saw when you did the PPC campaign was coincidental.

Will noindex pages still get link equity?
We think we get link equity from some large travel domains to white label versions of our main website. These pages are noindex because they're the same URLs and content as our main B2C website and have canonicals to the pages we want indexed. Question is, is there REALLY link equity to pages on our domain which have "noindex, nofollow" on them? Secondly we're looking to put all these white label pages on a separate structure, to better protect our main indexed pages from duplicate content risks. The best bet would be to put them on a sub folder rather than a subdomain, yes? That way, even though the pages are still noindex, we'd get link equity from these big domains to www.ourdomain.com/subfolder where we wouldn't to subdomain.ourdomain.com? Thank you!

Google Analytics Organic Accuracy?
Hi, On a cool summers day, I was quenching my thirst for SEO Knowledge in the depths of Google analytics, When I stumbled upon a most troublesome sight. I was Browsing the data inside Acquisition->Keywords->Organic and comparing them to Acquisition->Search Engine Optimization->Landing Pages, to find the results quite questionable.. Since Keywords->Organic measure the visits from the organic results, and Search Engine Optimization->Landing Pages measures the clicks onto one of my landing pages from Google, I assumed they should be the same or very close, (besides Keywords->Organic having visits from other search engines) but they were not the same, as a matter of fact it was telling me that Keywords->Organic visits = 1,474, 27.19% of total(5,422) and Search Engine Optimization->Landing Pages, clicks = 1,548 154.80% of total (1000). Even worst the Search Engine Optimization -> Queries clicks = 1,123, 160.43% of total(700). I have been searching, and come up empty handed in the answer so does anyone know why Google is showing me different results and strange numbers that don't make sense? Any information is greatly appreciated?

Will Google start trimming 'stale' sites rank?
With the recent focus on Google to reduce rank of farms and low value sites, I am interested to get SEO view on if you think Google will start devaluing stale sites. I do find it a bit frustrating that in the top 5 for my main key phrase, there is one site that has NO content just an error and another blog that has not updated content in 2 years. How can blogs that do not blog be considered high enough value by Google to rank in the top 5? How can sites that just return 404 or 500 for ALL their pages be even considered a site let alone rank 2nd. I am interested so see others experiences and thoughts on 'user experience' clean ups by Google and why these types of sites get missed?

Why does Google Analytics think PPC traffic is organic?
I have a bastard of a problem... Google Analytics is incorrectly tracking PPC traffic as SEO which is screwing up all my reporting . I don't care for rankings, I care for actual SEO traffic and I can't be sure that what i am seeing is correct which is driving me nuts. Any ideas?

Will having a subdomain cause referral traffic from the domain name?
Hi! One of our clients has a site with the store on a subdomain: store.example.com. When we've set up goals for order confirmation pages, we often see most of the sources attributed to example.com. Is this because of the subdomain issue? How would we correct it so that we would see as the referring source for the goal the site that sent to the root domain originally, and not the site that sent to the subdomain? Thanks!
