Htaccess Rewrites
-
Hi, I'm battling with duplicate content and would love to fix some redirections in my htaccess file:
1. I'm trying to use the www version of my site via 301
2. I'm trying to remove ALL /index.php from my url's
I currently have the following code, but my home page /index.php is still not redirecting to the root?
Options +FollowSymLinks
Options +Indexes<ifmodule mod_rewrite.c="">RewriteEngine On
#RewriteBase /RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^funeralcoverfinder.co.za$ [NC]
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://www.FuneralCoverFinder.co.za/$1 [R=301,NC,L]RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} base64_encode[^(]([^)]) [OR]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} (<|%3C)([^s]s)+cript.(>|%3E) [NC,OR]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} GLOBALS(=|[|%[0-9A-Z]{0,2}) [OR]
RewriteCond %{QUERY_STRING} _REQUEST(=|[|%[0-9A-Z]{0,2})
RewriteRule .* index.php [F]RewriteRule .* - [E=HTTP_AUTHORIZATION:%{HTTP:Authorization}]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/index.php
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} /component/|(/[^.]|.(php|html?|feed|pdf|vcf|raw))$ [NC]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteRule . index.php [L]</ifmodule>Any Advice? - Thanks so much!

Hi, 1. Your redirect to www should work. If that isn't working, that might be a sign that mod_rewrite is disabled and in that case, I'd check with your hosting company to verify the server config.
2. As for the index.php, I wasn't able to get your code working. Here is a code snippet that should remove index.php from all your URLs. It is similar to what you are using, but matches in a different way.
RewriteCond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /.index.php\ HTTP/ RewriteRule ^(.)index.php$ /$1 [R=301,L]
Hope that helps. Thanks,
Matthew

I've just noticed that moz is giving me the following error with reference to http://website.com: (webmaster tools is set to show the www subdomain, so it appears OK). Error Code 605: Page Banned by robots.txt, X-Robots-Tag HTTP Header, or Meta Robots Tag Here's the code from my htaccess, is this causing the problem? RewriteEngine on

301 redirects without .htaccess
I have a client that recently moved from an old ZenCart e-commerce site to Volusion. The domain name did not change. We need to redirect a bunch of the old URLs; however, Volusion's redirect tool does not work for URLS with "?" . The old ZenCart structure is: http://www.mydomain.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=563 Volusion is a hosted platform and we do not have access to the .htaccess file. Any suggestions on a workaround? Thanks!Nancy <colgroup><col width="960"></colgroup>

.htaccess redirect question
Hi guys and girls Please forgive me for being an apache noob, but I've been trawling for a while now and i can't seem to find a definitive guide for my current scenario. I've walked into a but of a cluster$%*! of a job, to rescue a horribly set up site. One of many, many problems is that they have 132 302redirects set up. Some of these are identical pages but http-https, others are the same but https-http and some are redirects to different content pages with http-http. A uniform redirecting of http to https is not an option so I'm looking to find out the best practice for reconfiguring these 302s to 301s within .htaccess? Thanks in advance 🙂

Help creating a 301 redirect in my htaccess file
Hi Guys, I'm trying to build a 301 file with the file requirements: It should be visible only for Google and other Search Engine Agents. It will have a few direct redirects. A few URL must be dynamic redirect. For example each page the starts with olddomain.com/category and is not in the list of of direct redirects should be redirect for newdomain.com/category Here is my start point: #301 Starts here Set the agents RewriteEngine On
Technical SEO | | Felip3
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Googlebot [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} msnbot [OR]
RewriteCond %{HTTP_USER_AGENT} Slurp Make the direct redirect. Redirect 301 /category/sub1 http://www.newdomain.com/category/sub1
Redirect 301 /category/sub2 http://www.newdomain.com/category/sub2 Redirect everything else Redirect 301 /category/* http://www.newdomain.com/category #End of my 301 Will that work how I want? is there anything wrong?0 -
Lowercase Rewrite in web.config. Strange behavior.
So I am trying to implement a lower case rule in my rewrite section and I am using the same snippet below that can be found all over the web. The lower casing of my url works fine but it adds my domain name into the URL for reasons I can't explain. so this www.SomeSite.com/Upper.aspx become www.somesite.com/somesite/upper.aspx I removed all other rewrite rules but this one and still it happens. Has anyone seen this? My server is IIS 7 <match url="[A-Z]" ignorecase="false"></match> <action type="Redirect" url="{ToLower:{URL}}"></action>

Problem www/non-www domain rewrite
Hello, I've made a site for a client about 1 year ago. The rankings are quite okay, but the home page suffers from a penalty I think. I found out via OSE that PageAuthority strangely is higher on the 301-ed page www.myanmar-rundreisen.de - PA 32
Technical SEO | | hgw57
myanmar-rundreisen.de/ - PA 33 I don't understand what is happening here as I am using the usual htaccess 301-redirect: Rewrite domain.com -> www.domain.com RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www.myanmar-rundreisen.de [NC]
RewriteRule (.*) http://www.myanmar-rundreisen.de/$1 [L,R=301] which is working fine with other domains ... I tried also (last line) RewriteRule (.*) http://www.myanmar-rundreisen.de/$1 [L,R=301] So thanks to anyone who can share an idea on that ... Guenter K04xy.jpg0 -
How to rewrite WordPress permalinks for reverse proxy?
Our main site, www.domain.com, is on an IIS 6 server. When we started our blog, we wanted to put it in a subdirectory (domain.com/blog), but we couldn't because our IT people refused to support it. Instead, we built it on a third-party Apache server and configured it to open under blog.domain.com. However, I came across this SEOmoz post about the glories of reverse proxies, so I've persuaded our IT people to take a swing at it. We got it to work on a staging server, but the permalinks won't change (still appear as blog.domain.com/slug). The IT guys say it's due to a configuration problem with WordPress. Can somebody out there point me in the right direction as far as working out the URL issues with this?
