How to target keywords on a new site?
-
I have a site I launched a few months back, and the niche isn't all that competitive.
After a bit of work the domain is now sitting near the bottom of page 2 on google but it's number 2 in yahoo search.
I have been manually building the links but they are all targeted to just one keyword, and mainly have the same link text. Will this look suspicious to google, and should I be spreading my anchor text over different keywords?
Or is the reason Im ranking so well in yahoo be because they are just picking up more backlinks? 23 from yahoo but only 9 from google.

Will google actually be penalizing me for just targeting one keyword, hence the lower ranking?

Thanks Vinnie!

I would say it would look fishy if a majority of your links had the same anchor text and it wasn't your site name. I'm not sure of the exact ratios but at least 50% of anchor text's should have your site name in them. That is the organic #, maybe even a little higher. The rest should be diverse too, if it's just 2-3 phrases it will look obvious. Getting links to your site with your name in the anchor text is still great. It helps branding, and still sends link juice to your site.
If you want to go after some competitive terms or rank higher safely in Google, I'd suggest diversifying your link portfolio.

Keyword are not ranking
Hello, Recently We have a taken a project " http://customerconnect-services.com/ " and are responsible for the Digital Marketing for the website. FYI, we have been following the best On-Page SEO practices ever since we took the project: Performing Keyword Research, Finalizing the Keywords,Using those in the Page-Title, Meta-Descriptions, Heading Tags and of course in the Content as per MOZ suggestions & SEO standards. But, we are unable to rank in first page; all the considered keywords have a ranking of 51+ which is a serious matter of concern for us. We have also checked whether the Domain / URL has been blacklisted, but it's not (Not even by Google). We are therefore unable to figure out what is going wrong even after following so many best practices to get the keywords a good ranking (1st & 2nd page of SERPs). Therefore I would like to request you to provide your expert opinions in this regard by checking what is it that we are not getting right. The website is euro t20 slam As this is a high-priority issue for us & the client is a prestigious one of course, please help.Looking forward to hearing from you at the earliest.

Create content for long tail keywords.
I have identified some potential long tail keywords. But I am not a good writer. My strengths are in programming so I am coding the web site. In the mean time, what is the best way to create related content in terms of blog entries. I intend to have landing page in my blog and rank it as high as possible. How did you outsource the good content creation. How much did you pay? Thanks..

Shopping comparison sites for ecommerce Seo
Does anyone use shopping comparison sites to drive traffic to an ecommerce site? If so does that improve your organic ranking or result in the first page being dominated by comparison sites?

Linking strategy between my own sites
Hi, I have one main site, let's call it food.com I also have 10 smaller sites, let's call them mexicanfood.com, indianfood.com, italianfood.com etc food.com is on its own separate dedicated server the 10 smaller sites are all on a shared IP in hostgator I don't want Google to think that I have created the 10 sites for only purpose of creating links to each other. So, would you recommend that all those 10 sites link to each other? or should there be no interlinking within those 10 same IP domains? What about linking from those 10 sites to my main site? How should I structure my own backlinks not to get penalized by Google ?

How important are exact keywords in your anchor text?
Hi Guys, I’m relatively new to SEO. I’ve recently started working for a website design company and am in the process of changing the anchor text in the footer of all of our clients sites. At the moment most of them read “graphic design & web development by dara creative” with anchor text being dara creative taking you to our home page. As you can see we are not fully taking advantage of the keywords that could have a higher impact. So I’ve done some keyword research and I hope to concentrate my efforts on the following keywords as the anchor text leading to the home page; website design Dublin, website design Ireland, web developemt Dublin and web design Ireland so it may read something like “web design Dublin by dara creative” However this doesn’t read so well as people may think that the company might be called “web design Dublin”. So the alternative might be “web design in Dublin by dara creative”. So my question is which would rank better? Does google rank the exact searched keywords higher than broader searched words? Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks rob

Tracking new inbound links
I suspect there might be an easy way to do this.. but alas Icould not seem to find it with by performing some search queries in the Q and A thus figured I would just ask :).. sorry if being repetitive with this question. I have all sorts of tools to track the number of overall inbound links to my site, but is there an easy tool to check for specific new inbound links from one specific page/site..aka if I set up a link in a directory or I get a mention in an article.. what is the easiest way to search to see if this link has been picked up by google and how much link juice it might be giving to my site? Thanks for your time, John
