Authorship integration
-
Hi
Do you need or is it preferred to have an author page on your website to best integrate and take advantage of authorship integration ?
I'm looking at Google+ instructions for setting up and doesn't mention it - saying all you need to do is as they instruct
However even if they dont require it to integrate is it still better to have one for better author signals ?
Also if you dont have a blog on your site (say you have a news page instead) can you still have an author page or does author page have to be the following format blog/author/name ?
Cheers

Thanks Dan
It is a corporate website but will have news section/blog where im looking to integrate with authorship for at least those pages
I'm really asking here about how important it is to actually have an author page in addition to what's required by G for integartion (author tag and g+ personal page integration) ?
cheers

Yes it is very good to add the authorship tag. Heres a great article by AJ Kahn on Authorship: http://www.blindfiveyearold.com/author-rank
In fact when you add your authorship you gain credibility as a writer and you can also have an image come up on the SERPs next to your articles, this will result in a higher click through rate.

It depends on what kind of content you are producing. If it is a blog or news site with actual authors then yes you should take advantage of authorship. If it is a corporate site with no engaging, unique content then it is not recommended.
The author tag is integrated into pages that the author has written, not an author page - such as an 'about me' page.

Authorship Not Displaying
I've been reading through a ton of articles on Google Authorship on Moz as well as a variety of other sites but still haven't solved my issue. I set up authorship a while ago and it stopped working after a very short time. It came back and again stopped working. I use Yoast for the tags. I realize that Google drastically decreased showing authorship photos in SERP but I've never been about to get it to show no matter what I've tried aside from that brief moment of success when I originally implemented the tags. Rich snippet tools shows all as being a ok! Any suggestions what I might be doing wrong?

Authorship and Aggregate Rating in SERPS
I've setup authorship and aggregate rating information for our website. It all checks in the Structured Data Testing Tool, but the results in the SERPs have been on then off. At first my authorship image showed on all articles were the markup existed, then suddenly it went away. Then more recently, the aggregate rating information displayed on all pages were the markup existed, then again, it suddenly disappeared. I'm curious if anyone knows if the disappearance of these things are the result of manual action from Google or simply because the algorithm gathering more information that would cause the items to stop showing for one reason or another? In both cases the markup didn't change previous to the results disappearing. This leads me to believe the change in the SERPs wasn't a result of the markup, but rather something on Google's side.

Should you claim authorship on guest posts?
Suppose you write a guest post for an authoritative site, is it beneficial to claim authorship of the article by linking to your Google Plus profile and adding the site to your account as a site you contribute to? If yes, would you do this for dozens of sites? (since your contributor list could get really long).

To integrate a blog tool onto site - or build a blog solution - what's better for SEO?
Currently looking at adding a blog to our company site subdirectory and wanted to know if there was a SEO distinction between the following methods: Integrating a bolt-on blog tool with the site to create the blog VS. just using the current site infrastructure to build blog functionality. What's better for SEO? (and if tool integration is the overwhelming response - which tool?). Cheers.

G+ and Authorship & Publisher
Hi Ive got one client for whom i have connected their G+ personal page to their site via the email process of setting up authorship. I also set up their company page on G+ and want to link it to the site too but its saying site is already verified/linked. I know i havn't added any rel=pub code to the site so dont know how this can be unless of course its using the already established author details (since admin for the co page) to make the company page connection. Is it the case that you now don't need to add the rel=pub code to establish publisher/verify link with your website ? Similarly to no longer needing to add rel=auth to site to establish authorship (since that can now be established via email) ? Any clarity here appreciated ? Cheers Dan

Google authorship syntax, plus no follow
I have seen two forms of rel=author syntax. Are they both valid? (1) (2) Second, does 'no follow' take away authorship? Is there any point in doing rel=author for a link that is rel=no follow? Like this:

.htaccess when integrating one website into another
My client would like to integrate one of it's smaller websites into its main website. I've identified around 20 pages which I'd like to 301 redirect to specific pages on the main website, and this is simple enough. The problem I have is that I am not sure how I can then put a catch-all to redirect all other pages on the site to the homepage of the main website. I'd originally though something like this would work: redirect 301 / http://www.mainwebsite.com/ (catch-all)

redirect 301 /about.asp http://www.mainwebsite.com/about (specific redirect 1)
redirect 301 /latest.asp http://www.mainwebsite.com/news (specific redirect 1)
etc. Any ideas?0
