Looking for some help on disavow
-
I received a message from Google WMT on July 23rd about unnatural links to my site. And my ecommerce site suffered a big drop on sept 29th about 70% drop in organic traffic. My it guys have discovered that our past seo companies placed ton of bad links to our site. we have contacted lots of these companies for 3 weeks after we lost our traffic to remove their links. Some of them did remove them i believe and most of them did not even reply back. We have learned about the disavow tool in 3 rd week in Oct after that we have compiled the links and submitted the file on Oct 22nd and submitted a reconsideration on Oct 23rd. We got a reply back on Nov 12th saying that
"Specifically, look for possibly artificial or unnatural links pointing to your site that could be intended to manipulate PageRank. Examples of unnatural linking could include buying links to pass PageRank or participating in link schemes."
I did not participate in any link schemes or otherwise suggested practice here. So my question at this point is, is it possible that google' quality team did not see the file or did not take it in to consideration. How long would it take this tool to work? is there an example of this file where i can see how the format should be if any different than how we had it. my site is goldenageusa.com
Thank you

Hi,
I took your advice and worked on the link clean up.
i managed to got some links removed, and contacted lots of webmaster to clean up my link profile. I have a large xls file to send to google for them to see that we have done a lot to clean up the bad links. How would i show this file to google? is there a place where I can post it? or email ?
thank you

thank you for your reply. according the wmt we see a total of 148,000 links pointing to our site, about 80,000 of those links are coming from an IP address that has no longer have anything on it. We have contacted the hosting company to investigate about this but we are not sure how to figure it out. We have included this IP in our disavow file since there was no one to contact. Can you tell me what would be considered a significant number of links?
by the way I m NOT an seo, i m the owner the company looking for some help. please excuse me if i sound dumb about these issues.
thank you

I agree with Ade but would add one more point.
I firmly believe Google is specifically looking for the manipulative links to your site to appear as a waterfall graph. In other words, if there has not been a significant drop in manipulative links to your site, neither the disavow tool nor any text you add to the Reconsideration Request will help.

thank you for your reply. I appreciate it.

Hi,
When you submit your reconsideration request to google you should also send them evidence that you have tried to get as many links as possible removed.
Create a spreadsheet of all of the people that you contacted to get the links removed, include the link URL, the date that you conatcted them, who you contacted, the email address you used, if you got a reply and what the outcome was. Send this to google along with the reconsideration request.
Google want to see that you have made a real genuine effort to clean up your links.
After saying all of the above, this has worked for some people but not for others.

Are Old Backlinks Hurting Or Helping?
I have a ton of old backlinks for products that I no longer carry but I have redirected them to other pages within the site. I was told by an SEO expert that these links are hurting me rather than helping because people click on the links and then leave. These backlinks are from reputable blogs, news sources etc and my spam score is only 1%. Are these links really hurting me?

Google isn't recognizing links to my site. help
I recently changed my domain name and i see on moz that NOTHING is linking to my current domain (even though I have changed all of my links to go to my current domain name). My domain authority remains higher with my old domain name. I do have my old domain linking to my current site. Should I worry about this? How can i get google to recognize the link changes?

New to SEO, looking for advice.
Good day. I am fairy new to SEO and a lot of things about how google ranking works is very confusing to me. For example i do not understand why websites that are not optimized score 1st positions. Currently i am working on optimizing http://logiunvarti.lv/ for google.lv. I would like to ask if i am going in the right direction as far as on-page optimization and any kind of suggestion would be very welcome. Another roadblock i have reached is link building. Latvia is not a big country and most of the websites on similar topic as my are either competitors and are have low domain authority, dead for years, or simply ignore emails. Would social media be a decent alternative? I feel like i am missing a crucial point on SEO in for my country. I would be extremely grateful for any advice or if possible to contact me on skype for a better explanation on my problem.

One page hit with 10K no follow spam links, should we disavow?
Hi everyone, I'd like your opinions on the best way to handle this situation: One particular site page just got hit with 10,000 no follow spammy backlinks over 10 days time. I've read that it's pointless to use the disavow tool on no follow links (since it basically does the same thing) but we want Google to be aware that this WAS NOT US and we don't want to be penalized for these spammy links. Couple of questions: 1. Do we send backlink removal requests to each domain webmaster? 2. Should we skip removal requests and move right to disavow? 3. Should we take other action? As a site we have NEVER used any black hat SEO tactics over a 15 year history and have many HQ do follow and no follow links to the site and this particular page. Thanks for any suggestions in advance!!

Help! Someone's inserted my link in the footer of another site!
There's a site in my industry where (I'm guessing on flawed SEO advice) all of their pages contain footer links to rival sites – with each page containing a different set of links. One page has a link to my site, which I've just found out from GWT as the link now produces a 404.

Should I
a) ignore it?
b) ask them to replace it with a live link from my site (their site's highly relevant to mine)? or
c) ask them to remove it altogether as no-one wants footer links?0 -
Should I re-update Google webmaster disavow when bad neighbor republish my Feeds?
Hi all! I have a self hosted, WordPress blog. Today I accidentally found a one bad site republish my blog feeds in its sidebar. This blog has cracked software download links, software serial numbers information as well as few legal contents. I think it's is a bad neighbor. And it will cause future SEO issues. That blog hosted on Google blogspot. Then try to contact the site admin to remove my feeds from the sidebar. But I can't find any contact information. This site doesn't have any social networking profiles/pages. How do I block that site re-publishing my feeds? It uses a blogspot.com sub domain, therefore I can't find any who is information. If I use Google webmaster disavow link feature, what happen when I publish new blog posts? Then I have to re-update the webmaster tools disavow links? Thanks!

To disavow or not?!
Hi, I've been rooting around my GWT account and noticed two what may be dodgy links, they look like a blog network - no contact details on the site and basically just blog posts about various subjects that all contain keyword rich links. The two that are pointing at me are two seperate articles on two sites that both contain around 3 keyword links to our website. I have no idea why these are linking to me as I have not requested them, so not too sure if someone has done this on purpose on what! Looked on the sites in question and there is no way of contacting the person responsible for the sites. Not had any warnings yet (touch wood) in GWT, how you you go about trying to get shut of links when there is no contact info on the sites? Bit wary of using the Disavow thing in Google as some people say go for it while others say avoid? Any hints/tips would be welcomed as this has got me a bit worried! Cheers Ted

Looking to share PRweb.com subscription.
Hate to post this again but really don't want to be forced to submit a PR when its not really necessary. I am looking for an individual or company to go 50/50 with me on my PRweb.com subscription. This is 1 release a month for 12 months. I currently only submit 1 a month and really REALLY don't need the extra release. If anyone has any good ways for me to sell this off, please feel free to let me know. Message me for more details. It comes out to be about 50% the advanced package.
