How To Do SEO For Google Local Listing?

Hi,
I have been reading around but i still don't understand how we can rank better for local search listing from Google place.
I have tried:
Adding keywords to descriptions
Adding the max of 10 photosAnd also get my customers to comment on my Google place listing leaving testimonials.
Is there any tips?

Yes, many tips : )
If you are working on getting local listings on Google places you will need to build citations.
A citation is your Name Address and phone number. Every citation must match the info you placed on your Google local page.
I would recommend starting off by listing your site in good directories that have relevant categories and then earning citations from local web sites(http://searchengineland.com/where-to-get-citations-for-local-seo-105667). This will require off line work such as sponsoring something locally and getting a citation on the site.

Address not recognized in Yahoo Local
Hey everyone, I'm working with a client to get their Yahoo listing all setup. The problem is that they're located in a fairly new industrial complex that looks like it hasn't been added to Yahoo's map data. I'm unable to create a listing for them because Yahoo doesn't recognize the address as valid. How long does it take for Yahoo to update their map data for newly constructed areas? Is there anyway to speed to process along (maybe something similar to Google Map Maker where users can suggest updates)? Does anyone know any workarounds or solutions for a problem like this? Thanks! Google Image Search?
We get very little search traffic from the images on our site & I can't necessarily figure out why? We post a ton & tag them correctly, we've got to be missing something? We are a Wordpress blog, can anyone provide some quality articles on Image search or have suggestions that should help to get more traffic? Our site does fairly well, as we get over 100k/visits a month, so we'd really like to get more traffic from our images.

What to do if your categories are missing from Google Places/Plus page?
A client's Google Places/Plus page used to show four or five categories. Now, Google only shows one category. When I go inside their edit page, all of the categories are still listed. Is this a temporary occurrence? Does anyone have a similar experience or advice on this?None of the competitors seem to have the same issue. Ever since the Google plus integration, it's been impossible to see any changes updated.

As a whitehat SEO how do you manage in a highly competative market?
I have a competator that has literally hundreds of sites like this: http://www.wire-shelf.com/tag/cleaning/ that don't have a huge amount of page authority, but he is getting citations out of all of them. The site is obviously useless, and just a place for some SEO company to keep adding more links to their various clients, and creating google citations for them at the same time. Once you have filled out your information on every single local database and obtained all the legit citations you can, your competitors are still beating you by having more citations, from various sites like the one above. Is there any way to stay whitehat and actually succeed? or should i just follow suit, and make 100 crappy websites full of crap and put links in them. seems silly, but it seems like the only way to compete these days.
