Latest on how long your dmoz submisssions are taking

I've been waiting 11, almost 12 weeks for several submissions to appear in Open Directory. I research the right category and fill in all fields carefully incl. title and description. What are typical wait times now (4th Qtr 2012)?
-
Thanks. Great feedback. Good to hear some are getting listed. Does anyone know an editor -- what's the time commitment -- has it been a good experience?
-
I agree that it's a big game of chance. It had been a couple of years since I had anything approved. I'd just about given up. Then I got something approved in just a few days.
Conclusion:
Don't fret about this. Do the submission and then forget about it. If it comes through, regard it as a bonus.

+1 for Corey's response. Different categories, different levels of corruption, and many categories are without editors.
I'll add that you can often get added as a volunteer editor for a category if your intent seems to be in line with their guidelines. Never hurts to try.
-
I had one listed last week after just a few weeks.
For as long as I've been around though, the average timespan is somewhere between 1 day to 2 years to never (no matter how well you've complied with guidelines). It's a pretty terrible system for maintaining such an important thing. Each category is maintained by different volunteer editors, with different priorities / level of corruption. Others are totally nice and reasonable. Some categories don't have active editors at all.
In other words, it's a big game of chance.

URL Too Long vs. 301 Redirect
We have a small number of content pages where the urls paths were setup before we started looking really hard at SEO. The paths are longer than recommended (but not super crazy IMHO) and some of the pages get a decent amount of traffic. Moz suggests updating the URLs to make them shorter but I wonder if anyone has experience with the tradeoffs here. Is it better to mark those issues to be ignored and just use good URLs going forward or would you suggest updating the URLs to something shorter and implementing a 301 redirect?

Hostage Taking by My Wordpress Developer
Since 2013 a Wordpress developer has coded my real estate website. Their hourly rate is $24 but the programmers take too long to perform tasks and the service has become prohibitively expensive. Examples of unreasonable time estimates below: | | 1. Change theme settings so posts/pages do not display a date. -> 7 hrs
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | Kingalan1
2.Google search results are displaying the breadcrumb on the top of each page rather than the URL. Please correct so this does not display. -> 3 hrs
3. Install SSL certificate to www.metro-manhattan.com domain -> 8 hrs | | The above does not include 5-6 hours for testing. I am considering changing vendors. Potential programmers have asked how the site was developed and to what extent is it is customized. Ends up several plugins were built from scratch. My question is whether a new developer is going to be able to pick up a custom coded site. That without understanding how the site was built, any change will break the site. My concern is that current developer has made themselves indispensable, and created a situation where there is no alternative to using them and they can therefore charge any price they want.Any thoughts? Also below are questions I asked my developer about how the site was built and their answers: | 1. Was everything coded using a child theme?
No, is a custom theme. 2. Did you use any ready made theme or just plugins
We used the theme and and we've used plugins. Third party plugins and plugins builded from scratch 3. Can Wordpress and every one of the plugin be updated?
Wordpress can be updated, core files was never modified. If after an update something start to work wrong is due to some radical wordpress change or similar Can't be updated: FireStorm Professional Real Estate Plugin Created at xxx: Form Submissions Report Miscellaneous Hooks and Filters NYC Check memory usage NYC SEO listings NYC Slider Sitemap Updater 4. How long to re-index a page after being blocked
Morning all! I am doing some research at the moment and am trying to find out, just roughly, how long you have ever had to wait to have a page re-indexed by Google. For this purpose, say you had blocked a page via meta noindex or disallowed access by robots.txt, and then opened it back up. No right or wrong answers, just after a few numbers 🙂 Cheers, -Andy

How long should it take for indexed pages to update
Google has crawled and indexed my new site, but my old URLS appear in the search results. Is there a typical amount of time that it takes for Google to update the URL's displayed in search results?

How to make Google index your site? (Blocked with robots.txt for a long time)
The problem is the for the long time we had a website m.imones.lt but it was blocked with robots.txt.
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | FCRMediaLietuva
But after a long time we want Google to index it. We unblocked it 1 week or 8 days ago. But Google still does not recognize it. I type site:m.imones.lt and it says it is still blocked with robots.txt What should be the process to make Google crawl this mobile version faster? Thanks!0 -
Site penality revoked but no movement? how long?
its now more the 30 days since google revoked the manual link penalty and still no movement in the serps I am sitting around position 350 for something I should naturally site on the first several pages.. another thing I wanted to point out, the keyword that I'm ranking 350+ for is my domain name without the .extension ( i.e. .com ) How long should I wait, or have they forgotten to remove the penalty. Thanks,

How long does a Google penalty last if you have fixed the problem??
Hi I stupidly thought that it would be a good idea to set up a reciprocal links page on my website named 'links'. I did this because my competitors were linking to these pages so I though it would be a good idea and I genuinely didn't know that you could be punished for this. Within about 3 weeks my rank dropped about 3 pages. I have since removed the links and the page was cached last Friday but the site still appears to have a penalty. I assumed when Google cached the page and saw the links were not there anymore that the penalty would be lifted. Anyone got any ideas? ps. The competitor websites had broken their links pages into various categories relating to the website i.e. related directories etc. so this might be why they weren't penalized.
