Does a url with no trailing slash (/)need A special redirect to the same url with a trailing slash (/)
-
I recently moved a website to wordpress which the wordpress default includes the trailing slash (/) after ALL urls.
My url structure used to look like: www.example.com/blue-widgets
Now it looks like: www.example.com/blue-widgets/
Today I checked the urls using Open Site Explorer and below is what I discovered:
www.example.com/blue-widgets returned all my links, authority, etc HOWEVER there is a note that says........."Oh Hey! it looks like that URL redirects to www.example.com/blue-widgets/. Would you like to see data for that URL instead?"
When I click on the link to THAT URL I get a note that says_.....NO DATA AVAILABLE FOR THIS URL._
Does this mean that www.example.com/blue-widgets/ really has NO DATA?
How do I fix this?

Hi I need you want to probably go with the forward slash so it's consistency. You find it under
Permalink Settings
Sincerely,
Thomas

Hi Thomas, I checked the Yoast plug in settings and cant find where it gives you the option of redirecting to / or .htm.
Also, should I leave with the trailing slash /? I don't want to keep confusing google.
When my developer migrated the site to wordpress all my urls defaulted to having the trailing slash. Before this my urls did not have the trailing slash.

I understand what that's like. And want to let you know WordPress does not automatically redirect everything to a /. However you are in luck download the http://yoast.com/wordpress/seo/ plug-in and you will see a on the 2nd or 1st page click to redirect to either / or .htm as both are excellent please do that and it will take care of your problems.
I hope I have been of help to you.
sincerely,
Thomas

Links>TopPages: Mostly image URLs: Good for SEO? Redirect obsolete ones??
Looking at my "Links > Top Pages" report shows the top fifteen being image URLs (jpg files). Weird or normal? Clicking the "View Links" icon for a few of the image URL's shows that the best links in the list have DA in the 30's and 40's, and some PA in the 20's. But the linking sites have names that SOUND pretty crappy (from sites with names that sound weird or spammy) QUESTION 1: Do links to image URLs... A) help the overall SEO of the site's HTML pages, B) only help the specific page the image appears on, C) or are they of no value to the regular pages? QUESTION 2: What to do with the obsolete images? (images still hosted on our site, but do not appear on any pages) If I remove the images, the links will be lost. Which is good if the links are hurting us, but it would be bad for our SEO if the links are helping (unless we 301 the obsolete images to current ones) Thanks!

I need to get a page in the top 3 Google results for my keyword "teaching jobs" but am struggling to do so! Can anyone help?
I'm trying to get this page http://www.eteach.com/teaching-jobs to rank as the top search result on Google with the keyword "teaching jobs" but it seems to be number 5 in the results! My competitors are totally kicking my arse on getting this page to be above my website. I've got the keywords in there, I have the right content and I have links, what more can I do to make it rank as number 1! Help please!! If anyone has an SEO check list of things I need to make sure I do on my pages for them to rank in the top 3 results then that would be really handy!

What happened to OSE/Linkscape data?
Can any member of the Moz team or of the community comment on the most recent OCE/linkscape update as of 09/08/2011. It appears that the link data capture for one of our platform is dramatically different than previously and that there are some huge discrepancies? Any update on the change would be appreciated as we use all these updates as benchmarks. Thanks

Metrics from Linkscape - DJ Passed, URL mozRank Passed and funny numbers
Hello, Hoping someone can help me understand the difference between the Domain Juice Passed and some interesting numbers found in the exported CSV file. I ran the Advanced Link Intelligence Report and focusing on the Links to Domain metrics. It looks like the report is sorted by mozRank passed but next to each link we are given the DJ Passed instead. Why is that? My confusion is compounded by the fact that when I export the CSV of this report it no longer includes the DJ Passed numbers but does show URL mozRank Passed instead. For Example, on the web version of the Advanced Link Intelligence Report the top link is: http://www.holdenouterwear.com/shop.php with mozRank: 5.56 mozTrust: 5.95 and DJ Passed: 4.49 In the CSV file we don't get the DJ passed but get the URL mozRank Passed of: 0.00051 Looking at the CSV file further some links have URL mozRank Passed of 4.00E-05 Anyone has a clear explanation of why DJ Passed is not in the CSV file and how the mozRank passed is calculated? And what the 4.00E-05 mean? Thank you.
