Page for Link Building
-
Hello guys,
My question is about link building and reciprocal links. Since many directories request a reciprocal link, makes me wonder if is not better to create a unique page in the website only for this kind of links.
What do you guys recommend?
Thanks in advance,
PP

Hi Pedro,
Please go through Google link scheme guidelines:
http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=66356
In above guidelines they have clearly mention that "Links from low quality directory sites is unnatural".
So its better to stay away from reciprocal directory sites.
Hope this help you out....

Totally agree - stay away from them now!

To be honest, reciprocal linking is dead now so I wouldn't recommend obtaining links from any directories that require you to link back to them. Not only does Google consider reciprocal linking to be worthless anyway but you could potentially land yourself in hot water when the directory invariably gets devalued by Google and you’re actively linking to them.
Links pages used to be all the rage back in the late 1990’s but I don’t think they have their place anymore.
Hope this helps.

Customer Reviews on Product Page / Pagination / Crawl 3 review pages only
Hi experts, I present customer feedback, reviews basically, on my website for the products that are sold. And with this comes the ability to read reviews and obviously with pagination to display the available reviews. Now I want users to be able to flick through and read the reviews to help them satisfy whatever curiosity they have. My only thinking is that the page that contains the reviews, with each click of the pagination will present roughly the same content. The only thing that changes is the title tags which will contain the number in the H1 to display the page number. I'm thinking this could be duplication but i have yet to be notified by Google in my Search console... Should i block crawlers from crawling beyond page 3 of reviews? Thanks

Links On Out Of Stock Product Pages Causing 404
Hi Moz Community! We're doing an audit of our e-commerce site at the moment and have noticed a lot of 404 errors coming from out of stock/discontinued product pages that we've kept 200 in the past. We kept these and added links on them for categories or products that are similar to the discontinued items but many other links of the page like images, blog posts, and even breadcrumbs have broken or are no longer valid causing lots of additional 404s. If the product has been discontinued for a long time and gets no traffic and has no link equity would you recommend adding a noindex robots tag on these pages so we're not wasting time fixing all the broken links on these? Any thoughts? Thanks

What to do when you want the category page and landing page to be the same thing?
I'm working on structuring some of my content better and I have a dilemma. I'm using wordpress and I have a main category called "Therapy." Under therapy I want to have a few sub categories such as "physical therapy" "speech therapy" "occupational therapy" to separate the content. The url would end up being mysite/speech-therapy. However, those are also phrases I want to create a landing page for. So I'd like to have a page like mysite.com/speech-therapy that I could optimize and help people looking for those terms find some of the most helpful content on our site for those certain words. I know I can't have 2 urls that are the same, but I'm hoping someone can give me some feedback on the best way to about this. Thanks.

External Links on a Front Page
Does anyone have any links to information about external links on a front page ? I am advising a client that this is not the best idea and that they could be put in a different place but can't find any proof of this.
