Hello,
Content sliders are nice to have but most allow you to slide through a series of images (with the text embedded in the image). I've recently been using AnythingSlider (http://css-tricks.com/anythingslider-jquery-plugin).
This allows you to construct a slide using HTML, that can be crawled by search engines.
The method I use is I set an ID for each slide (eg: id="slide1") and use CSS to apply a background image to each slide. I then set position:relative for each slide in the CSS and add in any HTML I want into the markup for the slide. If I want to absoutely position elements on a per slide basis I can do (this is because position: relative is applied to each slide in the CSS).
EG:
-
Welcome to my first slide
This is the contents of the slide
The CSS could then be applied as follows:
ul#slider li { position: relative; }
ul#slider li#slide1 { width: 960px; height: 300px; background: url('/images/slider/slide1.jpg') no-repeat; }
ul#slider li#slide1 h2 { position: absolute; top: 125px; left: 50px; margin: 0px; padding: 0px; font-size: 1.8em; }
ul#slider li#slide1 p { position: absolute; top: 135px; left: 50px; line-height: 1.5em; font-size: 1.2em; }

Should we include our header logo in a sprite or leave it as a regular image?
We are combining the images in our header and footer into sprites. We noticed that when we include our header logo in the sprite, we lose the "alt" text associated with the header logo. Is this undesirable? Would it be better to leave the logo in our header as an image with "alt" text? Here's the link: http://www.ccisolutions.com

Changing from All-in-One SEO to Yoast SEO
I am currently using, and have always used the All-in-One SEO plugin for my website, but I have have heard time and again that the Yoast SEO plugin is superior. How do I transfer to this plugin instead? Do I need to deactivate the all in one seo plugin? What happens to all the tags that are already there for the thousands of pages, including the main page, that is functioning from the all in one SEO plugin?

Best Way to Re-Direct traffic from existing site to new site?
Good Morning, I have an existing site (http://goo.gl/QKkpi) running on a slow server. We decided to create a new site (http://goo.gl/XUH3f) with the intention of de-commissioning the first one. Both sites are on the same WMT account. What is the best way to permanently redirect any backlinks/traffic (all levels, from home page to product pages) from the old site to the new site (prior to shutting down the first one). Thanks a lot!

Best SEO Strategy for Social Games
Hi all - wondering if you can help.... We have a social gaming startup with a few million users. Our first game is http://iamplayr.com (currently just a landing page) - now we're just about to launch some more games. We'll have approx 6 titles by the end of the year (note most of our users are on Facebook.com).I'm a little unsure the best way to approach this from an SEO perspective. 1) Should we direct everything to a games specific .com site like http://iamplayr.com -> and if so, should we build out this site to attract more keywords2) Direct everything to our Facebook app e.g. http://farmville.com 3) Have 1 central site for our multiple titles, with each game having a subdomain e.g. ala King.com / Zynga.com etc? What you recommend? Our goal is to have a managable 'off Facebook' strategy that attracts maximum organic traffic for keywords e.g. 'free football game' etc Thanks 🙂 H

How about some SEO tips for small local businesses
The amount of time I hear people say write good content and people will naturally link to you. I appreciate this must be valid for large websites that a driven by content. However, it doesn't really hold much hope for smaller businesses with just service information etc. I work for a small business that does web design in the UK. However, I'm finding it difficult to do any sort of link building. In my opinion nobody is going to link to any of our content naturally or if it is, its going to be small time. Our rankings have dropped slightly (only to 4th in our local county). I've done the following thinks to try get it back up there but its having little or no results. Adding us to local business directories External Articles on site Cleaned up some duplicate title tags. What link building can I do? Is link building the home page sometimes not always the way to go? What content can I write that google will like? See what I mean? My rankings did climb a little bit but then dropped straight back down to their original places 2 weeks later. Help would be appreciated.

SEO Considerations for a Platform Change
We are getting ready to move our e-commerce platform from Zencart to Magento as the original Zencart framework is pretty dated. while I'm excited to move to a more modern platform, I'm terrified at the potential SEO risk involved with doing so given that all URLs will likely be different and we're considering updating many product listings. Almost all of the site's traffic is organic, so maintaining rankings is extremely important. I'd love any advice, but especially that related to: Best way to redirect all new URLs sitewide The prudence of heavily editing product listings at the same time of redirecting the URL (i.e. updating product descriptions) Site structure: Should I strive to keep the new site link structure as similar to the old as possible? Resources or guides on transitioning a site from a SEO perspective Other major facets I'm missing I appreciate any help or sights you can offer! Thank you....
