Webmaster Tools Links To Your Site
-
I logged onto webmaster tools today for my site and the section 'Links to Your Site' is showing no data. Also if I search using link:babskibaby.com it only shows 1 link. My site had been showing 500+ links previously.
Does anyone know why this is?
-
Yes Anthony, Once I have contacted ahref support because of link difference in OSE and Ahref.com. They told, they provide more fresh data.
-
Hi SanketPatel-
Open Site Explorer is my favorite backlink checker as well, but ahrefs usually has a much fresher index. OSE updates approximately once each month with ambitions to do so more frequent.
So if something dramatic happened a few days ago (like 100 lost links), ahrefs would be the quickest place to diagnose the problem. Compared to waiting another 20 days or whatever for the OSE index to update.

Thanks for adding, I only prefer opensiteexplorer for backlink analysis. See the total number of links counts. It means opensiteexplorer has crawled more pages.
-
This seems inline with what ahref's is reporting, 41 linking root domains with 201 backlinks.
ahref's report here:
https://ahrefs.com/site-explorer/overview/subdomains/babskibaby.com
-
As per Opensiteexplorer, you have 52 linking root domains and total 384 Links. You can checkout more links here :

I can't look at your GWT data, so I'm not exactly sure what is going on there. I suspect if you give it a day that data will be back in there.
I can confirm that the link:domain.com query is 99% useless and is not an accurate measurement of anything.
Use ahrefs.com/majestic and opensiteexplorer to check your backlinks. I'm sure they are still there.
Data/Tools are not reliable 100% of the time. Focus on your referral and search engine traffic instead of overall link numbers.

Change of address form in Webmaster Tools
I have changed my domain from .co.uk to .com and tried to submit a change of address form in Google Webmaster Tools. However it seems because I redirect my home page onto www.domain.com/index.php I cannot submit the form as it is not a domain name. Is there a way round this? It is not currently an option to move away from www.domain.com/index.php Thanks in advance

Webmaster Tools Verification Problem
Hello, Somehow a website I'm working on has lost it's verification in Webmaster Tools. I have absolutely no clue why... The Google Analytics code is still working, the verification meta tag is in place, both are not working. I get an error message about Google not being able to connect to the server. I asked about any possible changes to server settings or stuff about that, but apparently nothing has changed there. The URL in question is Bivolino.com Does someone has any other ideas what I could be looking for. Thanks, Kind regards, Erik

How do I get my pages to go from "Submitted" to "Indexed" in Google Webmaster Tools?
Background: I recently launched a new site and it's performing much better than the old site in terms of bounce rate, page view, pages per session, session duration, and conversions. As suspected, sessions, users, and % new sessions are all down. Which I'm okay with because the the old site had a lot of low quality traffic going to it. The traffic we have now is much more engaged and targeted. Lastly, the site was built using Squarespace and was launched the middle of August. **Question: **When reviewing Google Webmaster Tools' Sitemaps section, I noticed it says 57 web pages Submitted, but only 5 Indexed! The sitemap that's submitted seems to be all there. I'm not sure if this is a Squarespace thing or what. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!!

Find all old links from a site to 301
We worked on this site a while ago - http://www.electric-heatingsupplies.co.uk/ Whilst we did a big 301 redirect exercise, I wanted to check that we "got" all of them. Is there a historical way I can check all the old indexed links to make sure they correlate to the new links? Thanks!!

Hi, I just recive a "nice" Massage at my WMT- Unnatural links to your site—impacts links _Google has detected a pattern of unnatural artificial, deceptive, or manipulative links pointing to pages on this site. Some links may be outside of the webmaster’s control, so for this incident we are taking targeted action on the unnatural links instead of on the site’s ranking as a whole. Any need to worry about spammy links in Webmaster Tools from sites that no longer exist?
I own an ecommerce website that had some spammy stuff done on it by an SEO firm through SEOLinkVine a few years ago. I'm working on removing all those links, but some of the sites no longer exist. I'm assuming I don't have to worry about disavowing those in Webmaster Tools? Thanks!

Should we block URL param in Webmaster tools after URL migration?
Hi, We have just released a new version of our website that now has a human readable nice URL's. Our old ugly URL's are still accessible and cannot be blocked/redirected. These old URL's use a URL param that has an xpath like expression language to define the location in our catalog. We have about 2 million pages indexed with this old URL param in it while we have approximately 70k nice URL's after the migration. This high number of old URL's is due to facetting that was done using this URL param. I wonder if we should now completely block this URL param from Google Webmaster tools so that these ugly URL's will be removed from the Google index. Or will this harm our position in Google? Thanks, Chris

Internal Linking: Site-wide VS Content Links
I just watched this video in which Matt Cutts talks about the ancient 100 links per page limit. I often encounter websites which have massive navigation (elaborate main menu, side bar, footer, superfooter...etc) in addition to content area based links. My question is do you think Google passes votes (PageRank and anchor text) differently from template links such as navigation to the ones in the content area, if so have you done any testing to confirm?
