Are Panda/Penguin Penalties not Global but only fired for specific Google CCTLDs?
-
An international portfolio of web sites has been suffering from Panda and Penguin over the last months. Essentially many of the international sites completely disappeared from the top 50 when before we had many Top 5 positions for competitive key words.
Today we noticed that it appears that for all this time rankings for local keywords have not been affected for domains outside of the most relevant Google CCTLD for the page.
To give an example:
Domain.it / Keyword 1 (IT) = Italian Competitive Keyword
Google.it: Keyword 1 (IT) April 2012 Position 4
Google.it: Keyword 1 (IT) December 2012 Position ---Google.com: Keyword 1 (IT) April 2012 Position 1
Google.com: Keyword 1 (IT) December 2012 Position 1Google.de: Keyword 1 (IT) April 2012 Position 3
Google.de: Keyword 1 (IT) December 2012 Position 4Have other people observed such behavior? Does this give any pointers towards how the recovery strategies should be drafted?
We have experienced that the more search volume a keywords has received the harder the Panda/Penguin impact. So one hypothesis could be that because the international Google domains do not receive overly significant traffic for the localized keywords Panda/Penguin protection algorithms are not being applied with the same force.
Any thoughts are welcome. /Thomas

When Google typically rolls out algorithm updates, specially the Panda's and Penguin's of the world, they typically first launch them on Google.com and based on how they perform and tweaks, eventually roll them out on International and Non-english sites.
I would say yes, there could potentially be a difference based on Search Volume. I would do some competition analysis, see how others in your niche have been affected and not been affected, identify patterns. I would also recommend doing a detailed SEO Audit for your sites and building a strategy on where the gaps are identified.
How are you ranking now ? Are you / were you doing any specific kinds of link building ? Did you over-do any one kinds of links ?

Website excluded from indexing, google-selected canonical: N/A
The google search console revealed to me that none of my pages was indexed, all pages are listed in the 'excluded' section "duplicate, google chose different canonical than user".
Reporting & Analytics | | Fibigrus
But in the URL-inspection tab it shows me google-selected canonical: N/A Indexing and crawling is both allowed. Don't know how to get my pages to be indexed correctly. (by the way, they do NOT exist in other languages, so that can't be a reason why google might think they are a duplicate. There's definitively no other version of those pages available)0 -

Weird Google Analytics tracking question
I have a client that has a market place site, where people list goods and sell them, think something like Etsy. Instead of developing a system to show the users page views and things like that, does it sound reasonable to let them enter a Google Analytics property on the pages they list on, then let them monitor through GA? Does anyone see any fatal flaws in this thinking?

Discrepancy between FB PPC and Google Analytics
This question was answered in 2011 here: http://moz.com/community/q/facebook-ppc-number-of-clicks-according-to-fb-different-than-visits-in-analytics. Wanted to post it to the community to see if anyone had any new thoughts in the last 3 years. I have been running campaigns on Facebook and seeing dramatic discrepancies between Facebook and GA's numbers. For example, I ran a Facebook ad campaign for a chiropractor where FB shows 35 clicks to the website, but GA only shows 2! An attorney ran a Facbook promotion, got 4 clients who actually filled out a questionnaire online, but GA only showed 2 visitors exiting off the form completion page. Is this because the users did not have JS/cookies enabled? Something else? What is the recommended work around? Tracking URL?

Google Webmasters DNS error
Hi, In my webmaster tools I have a yellow triangle stating that there is a DNS error that is preventing Google crawling my sites. The site is indexed and I have checked fetch as Google and that seems ok but the triangle is still there every time I check it. The whois sites all have the correct information and point to Hostgator who I am using. I have contacted them and they said everything seems ok. Should I just carry on as normal with my link building as the site is indexed or investigate even further? Cheers, Stuart

Google Product Feed help
Hello, We are working with a particular service that uses our Google product feed to pull information. We wanted to add product info such as dimensions and hex colors for each product to better service the third party we are using, but we not sure if this is something Google supports in their feed. Would it cause any problems if we added that info in? Thanks for any help! Also, my knowledge regarding a Google product feed is lacking so if the question is confusing or I didn't give enough info on our situation just let me know and I'll do what I can to better explain.

Google Analytics Best Practice Set up for Clients
Hi When setting up new Google Analytics accounts for clinets what is the preferred/best practice. At present we have our own company google account and add new clinets this way (to our account) - the disadvantage with this, we can only grant them limited account access otherwise they would be able to view all the accounts we cretaed. Plus we can't link their adwords to the GA account we cretaed them. Is it best practice to set the client up with their own Google Account and then we just link to their account. Advise would be appreciated, thank you.

We recently changed the url of a client's website. Is there a way to change the url on the ga account instead of creating a new account so that we don't lose comparative data? Thanks! Sorry- I know this is a novice question.
