Robots.txt file

How do i get Google to stop indexing my old pages and start indexing my new pages even months down the line?
Do i need to install a Robots.txt file on each page?
-
What CMS are you using? If it is wordpress, there is a plugin that allows you to configure when google is asked to crawl your site and you can set it up so that they only crawl your "archives" monthly and set up how often you have new content on the site. it is called WP Robots Txt

there should be only one robots.txt file for the entire site. Do you mean "Do I need to add a separate line item within the robots.txt file that disallows each page I want deindexed?" ? The answer is that would not be the best solution.
Other questions need to be asked as well.
1. Have you created a sitemap.xml file with only the new pages in it? And if so, have you submitted that to Google through Webmaster Tools?
2. Have you obtained any off-site links pointing to the new pages?
3. Have you performed a site:mydomain.com search in Google to see whether those new pages have been indexed?
4. Have you checked Google webmaster tools to see whether there are serious errors on your site their system has come across that might be related?
5. Does your site's robots.txt file currently block those new pages from being crawled?
All of these need to be answered to help determine a course of action.

Shopify robots blocking stylesheets causing inconsistent mobile-friendly test results?
One of our shopify sites suffered an extreme rankings drop. Recent Google algorithm updates include mobile first so I tested the site and our team got different mobile-friendly test results. However, search console is also flagging pages as not mobile friendly. So, while us end-users see the site as OK on mobile, this may not be the case for Google? I researched more about inconsistent mobile test results and found answers that say it may be due to robots.txt blocking stylesheets. Do you recognise any directory blocked that might be affecting Google's rendering? We can't edit shopify robots.txt unfortunately. Our dev said the only thing that stands out to him is Disallow: /design_theme_id and the rest shouldn't be hindering Google bots. Here are some of the files blocked: Disallow: /admin

Can the Hosting location of image files have a negative effect if on the developers own media server rather than on client site server ?
Hi Can the Hosting location of image files have a negative effect if on the developers own media server as opposed to on the actual websites server ? In the case i'm looking at the image files are hosted on a totally separate server (a media subdomain of the developers site server) from the subject sites dedicated server. Will engines still attribute the properties of files hosted in this manner to the main website (such as file name or should they really be on the subject sites server own media folder ? Cheers Dan

Question about construction of our sitemap URL in robots.txt file
Hi all, This is a Webmaster/SEO question. This is the sitemap URL currently in our robots.txt file: http://www.ccisolutions.com/sitemap.xml As you can see it leads to a page with two URLs on it. Is this a problem? Wouldn't it be better to list both of those XML files as separate line items in the robots.txt file? Thanks! Dana

High pr doc files
I saw that the website www.comunicatedepresa.net outranks www.comunicatedepresa.ro for the therm "comunicate de presa" in google.ro SERP even though .ro beats .net in every seo indicator (links, domains linking, fb likes, g+, onpage etc) I saw that site:www.comunicatedepresa.net returns a lot of *.doc files with a title that contains the kw ("comunicate de presa"). Ex: www.comunicatedepresa.net/worddoc/1485/ It seems a little suspicios to me.Did anyone see this before (google giving higher importance to doc files)? Does anyone know why .net site is ranking better?
