Hi everybody,
My company recently stopped our SEO service as a cost-saving measure. Now it's up to me to do SEO in-house. I mainly do marketing and graphic design. Though I know exactly (maybe not) what to do to successfully maintain our rankings the SEO company achieved and rank for new keywords, not sure where to start.
I know i need to make sure our website is optimized for SEO. Got that in the works (Our SEO company never advised on on-site seo)
I know I need to create good content with the proper keywords and use anchor links. Where do i put this content? Do i purchase a domain and just put it up there? EZinearticles? or any of those article sites. I've already reached out to do guest blogging on some sites but have not received any response yet. Should i hire a writer?
If anybody can give some pointers on where to start. I've got my list of keywords and keyphrases, I'm all ready to go. How can I begin my in-house SEO campaign?
Thank you so much!

You have rocket fuel that is not being used. A source of power that is very easy-to-get.
Your site has a collection of .pdf documents in the "Handouts" section. Do the following to everyone of them.
-
Open the documents and add a link to your website in the footer of the document or make the name of your organization in the header a live link. Right now, all linkjuice that goes into these documents dies and is not being passed into your website. I might also add a link to a relevant category page of your website or a relevant blog post or relevant article. These pdfs probably have natural links from other sites. Get the power of those links into your main site. These links will enable visitors to click to your site for more info and perhaps a conversion.
-
While you have these documents open modify the "properties". Add a title and description. These will appear in the SERPs as title tags and turn your pdfs into competitive pages in the SERPs. After doing this I would "lock" the pdfs.
-
On the "Media" page, these documents open into small windows which are separate URLs on your website. If these pages had some text content and title tag they might compete in the SERPs. They might also attract some links. As above these pages should each have one or more links back to your website to pass power and deliver traffic.
Be careful that these media pages do not become "thin" content or "duplicate" content. If you can give them some unique beef they should perform well for you.
We have a website with rankings that are almost totally supported by popular pdf documents and pages that support them. You can do this too.
Good luck.

How to make a wrong link profile right
Hello Moz, I want to do SEO a website that is 2 years old and in a different language from English. That website has a very wrong link profile. It has totally about 1500 inbound links and 90% of these inbound links are to home page. Also somewhat of these inbound links are from low quality web sites that have less than 80 inbound links. I think that I can follow 2 strategies to solve this link building problem. First strategy is only link building to internal pages till inbound links to internal pages reach about 80% of total inbound links. Second strategy is disavowing low quality inbound links to homepage and link building to internal pages till again same condition occurs. I think if I only implement link building, I have to produce a large number of content. But if I disavow many inbound links, will I encounter a sharply lose in rankings? If you have a different idea to solve this problem, I will be glad to hear. Also I wonder that if I follow these strategies, how fast I have to implement these? Thanks in advance for your interest.

Page Authority or Domain Auothority? Which one is more importan when having an external link pointing to your page?
Im about to make a deal with another site. We are going to exchange some links from some blog posts. In order to make a fair deal, I assessed some metrics for our posts. Basically, this site have better Domain Authority than my site (30 vs 25), but the page authority of their blog post in which they want to insert their links pointing to my site is 1 for each of them. On the other hand, the page authority of my blog posts they are interested in is 13. My dilema is about being resonable to set a good deal for both of us. So, my question is, which one matters the most when it comes to external links? page authority or domain authority? My intuition is that I’m in a better position than my counterpart. Thanks.

Is it a good idea to have some backlinks point back to your business listing on the various directories?
During my link building campaign Ive been doing competitive research. I noticed that one of my competitors, who ranks very well organically and locally, has several back links pointing back to his business listing page on the various directories, such as Manta, Yellowbot, and so forth. Ive seen one of their profile pages with a PA as high as 65, where mine has a PA of 1. They seem to be heavily involved in spammy and shady techniques. This is why I'm asking if this is a recommended practice?

Mutiple domains pointing on the same web site issues
We have in out company lots off different domains pointing to the same web site (On for most major countries actually...) . Unfortunately this was done by having all the DNS names to point to the same IP address to the target web site, and not by using a redirect as should have been done. As most of the pages on the web site are linked internally (All the pages of the site links at least to the front page), this resulted to have all the different domains linking one to each other causing artificial external backlinks to our main .com web site. I just wonder if google is giving us a penallity for this backlinks ? Also this causes the same content to be shared among different domains, resulting probably to self competition for keywords. Should we now remove all other domains resulting to a loss of these "artificial backlinks" ?
