Class C Servers?
-
Do you recommend using Class C servers to achieve better rankings? Also, who is the best for hosting competitive sites?
-
Hi Greg,
Disclaimer: my background is hosting
Web hosts, ISPs and everyone who requires IP addresses is currently facing the huge shortage of IPv4 addresses left in circulation.
We were smart and made sure we had reserves and used ours conservatively. Others are in not as strong positions.
Google is very aware of the lack of IPv4 and I am positive they don't penalize multiple sites on a single IP, let alone in a range, unless they can tie a number of those sites together and they are doing something very blackhat. Even then, it would take a lot for them to discredit an entire IP address.
I will say that the blackhat marketers typically go for the SEO hosting offerings. Think of all of the less than desirable sites that those IPs have had over the years. In my mind, these IPs will have a much lower trust score than a typically shared IP shared with multiple normal websites or dedicated IPs in well maintained ranges.
My recommendation is to choose a regular web hosting service. Do separate your key sites among multiple servers, or even multiple web hosts so if something goes wrong, not all of your sites are affected. Don't put all of your eggs in one basket.
Good luck with your search,
Matt

Improving SEO for a Niche Blog - Seeking Advice
I am a college student studying Information Sciences and was "hired" by my uncle over the summer to work and maintain his baseball-related website, which he started in 2016. His posts provide very in-depth information but were created without a focus on SEO. I've noticed that a competing site, which seems to have started as an e-commerce site, is ranking higher than my uncle's site for the query "how much does a baseball weigh." Interestingly, this competing site ranks for keywords like "mass of baseball," even though these exact keywords are not present in the post. Given the recent Google updates and changes in rankings, I'm trying to understand: How can an e-commerce site with seemingly less specific content outrank a detailed blog post?

What strategies can I employ to improve the ranking of my uncle's site for this specific query?
Are there tools or methods I can use to analyze why the competitor is ranking higher and how to address it?
I recognize I am not well-versed in SEO, so any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!0 -
Does keyword showing up in the body affect page score?
I noticed that when I search for a keyword and look at competitor sites, the keyword shows up in the "Body" under On Page Grader. For some reason, the keyword doesn't show up in the "Body" on Wowhead.com. I'm looking at the url and clearly it is in the body. This might be a technical issue and not showing in the body that MOZ is pointing out. How do we fix this? And will fixing this affect page score? Here are some examples of keywords and comparing the page score for competitors.

The competitors that compete for the same keywords as this domain, ranked by visibility. Other websites that compete with this domain for the same keywords, ranked by visibility. Visibility (What does the visibility rating mean on this report)?
For example: If you have a visibility of 8.33 on this report and your competitor has a rating of 6.21 or 4.64, is your visibility better than theirs?0 -
How do you select which keywords to push in SEO?
Hi Guys Selecting the right keywords that a website can realistically rank for is a key to gain top rankings relatively quick. I am just curious to hear how you guys do it (the methodology) when selecting which keywords to push? I mean you need to check the competition for each keyword as well so how to check this quickly to see what we realistically can rank for? Cheers John

Why is razorservers.com the #1 result on Google for dedicated server hosting?
Why is razorservers.com the #1 result on Google for dedicated server hosting? The site also ranks well on Google for the keyword dedicated server. It outranks sites with a PageRank of 7 and 100k+ back-links. Thanks

Researching Backlinks from Distinct C-Classes
I'm looking to do some competitive research on the top ranking sites in my niche. How can I get a list of the number of backlinks that come from distinct C-Class IP addresses? I don't see this anywhere in the OSE data. Thanks.
