Bing and Google Showing Different Backlinks In WMT
-
I'm trying to get my head around this one as I have been diligently building good quality backlinks to my website over the past 8 weeks. I'm particularly proud of the several PR7s and PR8s I got through credible service reviews, however I notice some of these links show up in Google and others in Bing WMT - but not both!!
Clearly I would like credit from both SE for all the links I have achieved. Is it just a waiting game for one to catch up with the other (Bing is ahead on the higher PRs)?
Is there a way to submit the list of backlinks to the SEs so I can get the credit from both?
Any insight would be appreciated...

As long as they don't fix the bug and I end up back at PR4 again.... doh!!
Cheers

Well sounds like whatever you're doing is working well and looks as though all those authority links will have been considered, so not much to worry about I don't think. My guess would be that the bug is linked to the PR update we've seen.

We went to PR5 in the past couple of days which is great news. But I had also noticed that the link report was missing 300+ of our backlinks... the article link might explain it. Will wait a week or two and see what happens!

Well, just as a heads up, it looks as though the Google WMT is having a few problems at the moment. Here's a link to the Google Products forum discussing the problem. Looks as though Google is aware of it and is working on it.
I'd wait a few days, maybe a week until things all calm down and then have another look and compare.

WMT semantics...
Wondering if anyone could help out here please. Cut a long story short, took on a client before Christmas last year and all was going well re seo until about June when the site got hit by a penguin problem. Search traffic went down 60% over night and a warning appeared in WMT saying we have penalised your site for spam links. Not good. Digging about more it appears that the old seo company, during their contract and what appears a few months after we took it, we engaging in some heavy forum spam. When I say heavy forum spam, it was impressively heavy. They had spammed the message board of a country and western singer 17,000 times, for example. We removed as much of the article spam as we could but the blog commenting and the forum spam was too vast to do much about - what are you going to do if someone emails and says can you delete our link from 17,000 pages of your website!! We did a reconsideration request from Google and got denied, that was fine, to be expected. We did some more clearing and got rejected again. Upon the third reconsideration request things changed in our WMT. Google messaged to say that we still have issues with your links, however in the warnings in WMT the message has changed from the one about having an penalty on the site to _'Google has detected a pattern of unnatural artificial, deceptive, or manipulative links pointing to pages on this site. Some links may be outside of the webmaster’s control, so for this incident we are taking targeted action on the unnatural links instead of on the site’s ranking as a whole.' _ We are reading this one of two ways...google has just changed the way they word the message, OR, they have reviewed our request and accept that we cannot remove all the spam links and so are advising us that they are ignoring the links themselves rather than penalising the site itself. Rankings, of course, still haven't come back, but are going up slowly. This is very much to be expected, without the spam links the site wouldn't have been there in the first place, so we are perhaps back to where we should be. Does this line of thought make sense to anyone else or have I spent too long looking at country and western forums trying to find our backlinks!! Many thanks, Carl

How long it takes to see backlink ?
We are promoting a law related website and I have posted a blog as a guest on a Law related blog which has PR 3 and Alexa Ranking 171.. It's been 3 weeks but when i run a backlink report from OpenExplorer or other tools that i use, i cannot see the link coming through at all. There is no no follow attached. I'd like to continue to post more articles on the same website but i need to make sure i am getting good links from it otherwise i will go somewhere else. However, i need to understand why do i not get links from that blog as it is very reputable and good blog. I appreciate if you can advise please? Thanks!

Google Penalty
Hi all, I've been having some trouble with Google lately. Awhile back I came across a quality site that had a "Useful Links" directory. I searched the site and finally found an email. I emailed the webmaster and requested a link. They obliged but wanted a link back, so I wrote a nice blog post that included a link to their site. This brings me to question number one: 1. Would Google see this as a link exchange? Problem number two with the link from this site. My site is fairly new with not much of a link profile. What I discovered was that they displayed random links from the "Useful Links" directory in the sidebar and in the footer. So all of a sudden we have a ton of links from one website. This site has hundreds maybe even thousands of pages. 2. Would Google see all of these links and think that they were paid or spam? We've had a nice steady increase in traffic from Google then all of a sudden it dropped to nothing for two days and has come back a little. Here is my data from open site explorer: 1/15/2013 PA=27/100 DA=14/100 LRD=5 Total Links=42 2/12/2013 PA=31/100 DA=19/100 LRD=9 Total Links=137 3/19/2013 PA=28/100 DA=18/100 LRD=5 Total Links=212 We experienced the drop in Google traffic on 2/4/2013. So according to open site explorer everything is ok. But is this big jump in links a problem? Thanks to anybody that reads this long post. 🙂

My google rankings went down
I've been working with a company to get some incoming links since April 2011. We are targeting only 2 keywords. For one keyword I was ranked number 1 until a couple of weeks ago. In fact, most of my rankings went down including those keywords that the company was not working on. They are writing 5 articles per month and posting them to their proprietary network. Could those backlinks could harmed my rankings?

Website dissapeared out of Google
Hi Everyone, About 2 months ago i launched a website called http://spelenroulette.nl, i did some linkbuilding for this website in the meantime with other roulette/gaming related websites and the website got a bit up in Google. But when i was checking my rankings today the frontpage of this website doesn't show up on the first 80 pages? Only some subpages are still on the same positions. Could this be for a rank-update like these happens all the time and your site dissapears from Google for several days, or could this be because of wrong/too many backlinks or something completely different? Regards, Yannick
