Do these results indicate a problem with my seo?
-
I've entered my the following search query into Google.co.uk
related:mywebsite.co.uk
However the resulting website that are brought back are on the whole nothing like our website, nor do they offer similar services to us.
If I run this same query on my competitors websites they all bring back similar websites to each other.
I read somewhere that gaining links from the websites that Google believes are similar/related to our own website is beneficial. But looking at our results it would seem that Google can't place what our site is about and which sites are similar.
So I'm guessing this is a more pressing matter than link building right now!?
Other info about our website:
We rank fairly well for a lot of our target keywords.
Domain age = 11 years
PA =38
mR= 4.77
mT= 5.74
DA:= 31
DmR= 3.78
DmT= 3.84
PageRank = 3Example of how random the results are the 1st website that comes back in our related websites search is for Doctors GP Practice. Our website sells GPS Telematics Solutions.
Can anyone shed any light on this or just to confirm how much of a problem this is?

Hi Andy,
Thanks for your speedy response.
In answer to your 1st question, our website sits on Hubspot's CMS which allows us to track the rankings for our main keywords in Google.co.uk
This tells us that we currently have 239 Keywords ranking in the Top 10 and 138 Ranked in Top 3. (Many of these are for our long tail keywords that are less competitive)
Driving close to 4,000 visitors per month to the site via Organic search.
I see the reasoning behind the GPS but our competitors also have these terms on their sites but don't have similar results?
It doesn't bother me necessarily but thought it may have indicated that Google couldn't really place what our website is about. Which does bother me.

My first question would be how are you finding your position in the SERPs? Are you not even on the radar or are you 1st page?
I would guess the doctors are coming up because of the "GPS" and "GP's".
My honest view is that isn't only really a problem if it is causing problems for you. If you appear 1st place for your key phrases, then I wouldn't worry - but need a little feedback on this first.
Edit- I should also add that I have seen high competition phrases return a site that has absolutely no related sites, yet the 2nd place had about 200 hundred.

International SEO Options?
Hi we currently have a site which is a example.com domain in the Australian market (we have geo-targeted to Australia within search console). We are looking to expand to United States. I have added the potential options down below, just wondering which one you guys think would be best from a SEO and practical standpoint? Or if there are other options i should consider? Option 1 The Australian domain is strong so this option takes this into consideration. Keep example.com (Australian) Add on: Sub-Directory for US Which would be: example.com/us/ In Search Console set the sub-folder to target US and also setup hreflang tags. Setup the US site on the sub-directory. Option 2 Add sub-folders for both Aus and US example/au/ (Australian)

example/us/ (United States) Setup hreflang targeting. Cons
Need to set up redirects for the current site to new location which is .com/au/ might also see drop in performance due to redirects. Cheers.0 -
Few question about SEO
HI guys, I have few questions and I always find good answer here. I tried many SEO companies some very expensive and well known some with medium prices and some from India. I’m not an SEO expert but I always get the same things from SEO companies. They're saying you have to stay with us for few months before you’ll see any results. I completely understand however I don’t see the result on the end.1. What exactly Do I need SEO company for, after I do on page optimisation if they don’t work on proper backlinks. Just letting you know I’m getting content from other people.2. Is there something else which is really important after your page is optimised than backlinks? Or we should fully focus on get backlinks from customers, guest post, sharing on social media etc. to increase our DA and PA?3. Any advice about some individual or company who is good in backlink services?

Too Many External Links A Problem
Client is thinking of adding a directory to an eCommerce site which users would find useful. It would help users find other services and vendors that are specific to the niche of products this site is selling. My only concern is it would create a number of external links to other sites. Even though they're related, would this diminish our standing with Google search?

Are backlinks the most important factor in SEO?
I have had an agency state that "Backlinks are the most important factor in SEO". That is how they are justifying their strategy of approaching bloggers. I believe there are a lot more factors than that including Target Market definition, Keyword identification an build content based on these factors. What's everyone's thoughts?

Suggestions for a SEO Review
I think it would be beneficial to have a third party seo review of the network of sites my team and I manage and was wondering if any of you had suggestions for what sort of tests should be done or that we should expect to see done during one of these reviews. We are a small team who has varying seo experience and have been working hard to make improvements to our sites in the past year. Most of our sites have been completely overhauled in the last 12-16 months and seo work that had not been done in the past has been setup, along with some corrections that may have been harming seo. We believe we are on the right track and have learned a good amount about seo in that time, but it would be nice to have some "expert" feedback outside of our office to get a clearer picture on anything we may be missing or some suggested improvements. A sort of double check on the work we have done.

Mobile SEO? Do we need it or not?
Hi Guys, I am about to start to redesigning a new mobile website and am curious if mobile SEO is actually having an affect or not. The site I am doing the redesign for, already has a very well optimized desktop site and has an existing mobile website with no optimization. The mobile website is ranking well in Mobile search so I am curious why I I would need to optimize the new mobile website properly, especially when the mobile website has a canonical tag for its desktop counter part? Love to get everyone's thoughts on this & where they see mobile SEO going in the next 12 months.
