Want to track AJAX form submits. Is this correct?
-
Hi!
I would like to track everytime a visitor clicks a AJAX contact form's submit button. I created an event in Google Analytics and plan to add some javascript to the submit button code.
This is the current submit button code:
This is how it'll look after I add the category, action, etc.:
Is this correct or am I missing something? Please let me know if you need further detail.
Thanks a lot!

That looks good to me. If you are unaware, once you get that event tracking properly, you can also setup conversion goals in GA which are triggered by custom events.

Hi Benjamin,
Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I posted my question 4 days ago and frankly had lost all hope for a reply so I asked in another forum and got the same recommendation. So I added the GA category, action, etc to the javascript validation section as you can see belowsuccess: function(data){ if(data == 'true'){ jQuery('input, select, textarea', form).val('').css({'background-position': '5px 9px'}); jQuery(message).html('Message sent.'); _gaq.push(['_trackEvent', 'Contact', 'Inquiry', 'Inquiry Form', 0, false]); }}
I'm waiting for the developer to implement this and see if it works.Well, thanks again and if you have further comments they're are more than welcome

Hi Alfredo,
Your syntax there all looks correct.
I'd recommend though, if it's possible, to instead trigger the event after the form submission has gone through. In your code above, the event will trigger whether or not the submission goes through, so if the user gets stopped by validation or something, it'll still count as a submission.
In any case, what you have above is correct.

Google Analytics Goals - Button Tracking
Does anyone know if there is a really easy way to track a button in Google Analytics yourself? It seems that most button click goal setups involve some use of tricky code and I'm wondering if there is a much easier way to do this that will allow us to simply setup and track certain button clicks as goal conversions in Analytics. Your help here is much appreciated!

Google analytics suddenly stopped tracking all my landing pages
Hey guys. I love the new update of GA. Looks so clean. So, of course, I was excited to see how my landing pages were doing. I went to behavior, all content, all pages. And I noticed it's only showing me 19 pages out of the 93 I have indexed. And none of the top ones at all! Can't find them anywhere in GA! Anyone seen this before? Thank you so much

Custom URL tracking for paid online ads
Hello! Our marketing team is testing paid online ad networks (banner ads, mobile ads and video ads) this year in addition to some traditional television advertising. We would like to track how effective these various ads are, and I'm wondering the best method to do so. In all cases, we're not setting up new pages for these ads to go to. They will simply go to an existing page on our site. For tracking purposes, here's what I'm wondering... If we set up custom URLs on our site (e.g. www.example.com/sports) then have the visitor immediately redirected to the intended page on our site (typically our home page), will Google Analytics show that custom URL in any report to see how much traffic flowed through it? Or will it not register because a page doesn't really exist for that URL? The biggest issue is with the banner ad network, which targets around ten categories of sites (sports, moms, entertainment, etc.). I know I'll be able to find the network listed as a referrer to see the total traffic the network sent us, but we would like to know specifically which category drove the visits. As such, would a custom URL for each category work, or will Google Analytics not pick it up because it's not hitting an actual page? For television ads, we are showing our URL as www.example.com/tv, which would then redirect to the intended landing page. In this case, it's a little more challenging because I won't have the referrer traffic to go by. But same problem... will GA recognize that URL and show it in Behavior > Site Content > All Pages? I hope this makes sense. If not please let me know and I'll try to explain. Thanks in advance,

Cover my tracks / two websites on the same Analytics
Hi, I've got 2 websites and I like one of them to make some links to the other one. These two sites are on the same Google Analytics account. They have been set up 3 month ago and they have some articles on them. I've heard that Google can see that those websites are related in my Analytics and use this information to give less power to the link I could make between them. What do think about it and what do you recommend me ? Shoud I closed the Analytics account ? Or down one of the website and rebuilt it whith a different domain / host / analytics ? The thing is if I delete one of the website i'll be force to republish the articles, because there are links on it, and they're part of a deal I've already made. Thank you

Is IP tracking of visitor allowed?
Hi, Google Analytics does not provide IP addresss of the visitors. What if i develop some in-house tracking mechanism to do so? Is it allowed or will Google penalize me if it comes to know about it? Thanks
