Is Google now punishing anchor text?
-
Hi All,
I was just wondering if Google is starting to punish anchor text links? I've noticed that one of my clients domains has slightly reduced and they have slipped a few places in rankings for a key term since. I found this bizarre as the last few links I built were both relevant and strong but I did use an anchor text?
Any feedback would be useful, I'm slightly confused here?

I would download an OSE report set to external links only, to entire root domain. Use an advanced report if you have the credits.
Then I would check the anchor text usage to each of the key pages.
Try to do quality link work - linkbait rather than link 'building' - Yer, I know, everyone says that - but really! Write some decent articles that people will WANT to read - if they want to read them, they will want to share/link to them.
If you do end up 'building' links though, do so by really high quality methods. Manually reach out for guest posts on decent blogs - tie this in with Google+ author profile links to the sites G+ account (the authors), and in terms of anchors, be natural! Go for what the blogger thinks should be used - usually this will be either www.domain.com/ or 'Brand Name'.
In short - don't try to manipulate your anchor text in order to gain organic Google rankings - this kind of practise is now more out of date than ever, won't likely work very well anymore, and could in fact be counter productive.
Hope that helps! Stick with it, do lots of research, start to identify and engage with a site's audience both on-page and off, and you will be fine

Many thanks for your reply, I will assess the link profile as see if there is a weight on one of the keywords.

Hi,
Yes, there is a special filter for over optimisation related with anchor text.
If you have / build a lot of links with teh same anchor text - and overall in your link profile that dosen't really look natural you can receive a filter on that anchor text and only on that anchor text - nothing else is affected.
(in some cases on some variation of the anchor text).
So if you only lost traffic for one keyword that might be the case.
usually it's a manual action as far as I've seen in the past - but there is also an algo in place for this as far as I've understood (personably though I've only encounter manual action against anchor text).
In order to solve this issue - you need to clean / edit /delete some bad links that are looking un-natural using this anchor text.
Your anchor text assessment within your link profile should be the first step to solve this.
I don't know the domain and keyword so I don't know if EMD is an issue - but it's also something you can review (is the keyword the same with the domain name ?)
Cheers.

Why google is catching my website late
Hello, I hope you all guys are doing great. Recently, I published my over my website and within almost 10 mins, it was indexed completely and I also personally checked it in google search console. The URL was indexed but the problem is, it does not appear in Google Search. Sometimes in search result I notice Google shows a result who is published 10-30 mins ago but this is not the case with my website. All articles just show in Google SERP after 1-2 days. What can be the reason behind this, although DA, PA is good (28-31).

Why do these links violate Google's Quality Guideline?
My reconsideration request was declined by Google. Google said that some of the links to my site (www.pianomother.com) are still outside its quality guidelines. We provide piano lessons and sheet music on the site. Three samples are given. 1. http://www.willbeavis.com/links.htm 2. http://vivienzone.blogspot.com/2009/06/learning-how-to-play-piano.html 3. http://interiorpianoservice.com/links/ The first one is obvious because it is a link exchange page. I don't understand why the 2nd and 3rd ones are considered "inorganic links" by Google. The 2nd link is a blog that covers various topics including music, health, computer, etc. The 3rd one is a page of the site that provides piano related services. Other resources related to piano including my website are listed on the page. Please help. Thanks. John

Why does Google recommend schema for local business/ organizations?
Why does Google recommend schema for local business/ organizations? The reason I ask is I was in Structed Data Testing Tool, and I was running some businesses and organizations through it. Yet every time, it says this "information will not appear as a rich snippet in search results, because it seems to describe an organization. Google does not currently display organization information in rich snippets". Additionally, many of times when you do search the restaurant or a related query it will still show telephone number and reviews and location. Would it be better to list it as a place, since I want to have its reviews and location show up thanks? I would be interested to hear what everyone else opinions are on this thanks.

How do I know what links are bad enough for the Google disavow tool?
I am currently working for a client who's back link profile is questionable. The issue I am having is, does Google feel the same way about them as I do? We have no current warnings but have had one in the past for "unnatural inbound links". We removed the links that we felt were being referred to and have not received any further warnings, nor have we noticed any significant drop in traffic or rankings at any point. My concern is that if I work towards getting the more ominous looking links removed (directories, reciprocal links from irrelevant sites etc.), either manually or with the disavow tool, how can I be sure that I am not removing links that are in fact helping our campaign? Are we likely to suffer from the next Penguin update if we chose to proceed without moving the aforementioned links? or is Google only likely to target the serious black hat links (link farms etc.)? Any thoughts or experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Can Using Google Analytics Make You More Prone to Deindexation?
Hi, I'm aggressively link building for my clients using blog posts and have come upon information that using Google Analytics (as well as GWT, etc.) may increase my chance of deindexation. Anyone have any thoughts on this topic? I'm considering using Piwik as an alternative if this is the case. Thanks for your thoughts, Donna
