What multi directory submit services should one use?

ubl.org, getlisted.org, localeze.com (neustar now), yext.com ? They all have some overlap, but what is worth paying for? Can you cover 90% of the market with e.g. just Yext and ubl.org or?
-
UBL imo is unimpressive, and in fact now they actually resell Yext as part of their offering. I've been using Yext for some of my clients, but I'm not completely sold. It seems like a nice "shortcut" to getting listed quickly, but I think nothing beats manual link building.
If your business runs a lot of specials. then Yext is great for pushing out updates quickly to all the listings at once. I think that's the biggest benefit to using Yext. But if you don't change your information or your specials often, then you might as well just build the citations manually once, instead of incurring an annual fee.

I have used both UBL and Getlisted with varied degrees of success. If you can afford it, whitespark.ca would be my choice.

Hoth v Fiverr v general backlinking services
So the company I am working with has purchased backlinks from Hoth and Fiverr. We have noticed that a lot of links seem to be from very low level DA's as well as wix, wordpress blogs that seem like they are the bottom of the barrel as far as links are concerned. Is there any value to even having these. Is there a way we can quantify the value that these links provide. It is relatively expensive to purchase these packages, if the company can ensure DA50 posts is it worth doing that sort of this? Is it better to have a lot of a little or a little of a lot.

Links from Directory's
I have been looking at the Directory's recommended on the SEOMOZ site. All of those that I have looked into do not appear to have a page rank for the actual page that my link would be appearing on. They all appear to offer N/A as the reply. Is this a problem? Thanks in advance for any replies!

Are directories still an option for linkbuilding
I know that after the recent slate of Google updates, many free directories got taken down. We've typically used the list of directories placed on SEOmoz (www.seomoz.org/directories). Before adding a site to a directory, we always check to see if it is indexed by Google. Is this still a safe option or should directories be avoided?

I am trying to increase the number of branded links for a few of my sites since the links are too heavily weighted on anchor text. If so, would you recommend a service like Directory Maximizer?

Link DIrectories - Is it a Good Idea with recent Panda Updates
Yo! I have been doing a tonn of research on a few of my top competitors and have noticed that a decent percentage of their links are from link directories. Most of these directories seem organized and the links on the pages are relevant to the selected category. These pages offer both free link submission and a paid feature link submission. My question is that is it a good idea to submit my site to these directories with the recent Panda update(s). I have read a bit about it, but still do not fully grasp the overall picture of it. Any thoughts or suggestions?
