When setting up campaigns should I set a landing page up per campaign?
-
eg Home page is landing and and has 5 Keywords, should this be 1 campaign, and then 2nd landing page with 2 keywords is another campiagn. In my current campaign I have lots of "F's" for On site optimisation for keywords that dont have relevance to the landing page. Sorry about the newbie question.

So just to clarify Sam, On the Report Card page. I select keyword then change the URL then click grade my page. It will then give me a new report score.
Will the URL that I change the keyword assigned to save for the next weekly report

Thanks Reeves and Sam. I appreciate your help and time

John, I'm sorry. I totally misunderstood your question. No, I don't set up different campaigns in SEOMoz (I was thinking PPC Campaigns.) I only have one campaign setup for our webpage.
In the "On-page" section of your reports, click on one of the keywords that is currently graded as "F." Make sure that at the top that the URL being graded is the right one for the keyword. For instance, I want to make sure that my brand keyword "A&R Solar" is pointing to my homepage not to our FAQ.html page. For a "Solar Panels" keyword I want to make sure that the URL is our "Products" page.
I hope that clears things up.

Thanks Reeves. So in SEOMOZ you have a separate campaign for each landing page?

I'm also a newbie, but the tactic you describe is how I'm tackling our pages. We're a contractor that needs to rank for nearby cities. So my alternative campaigns (and landing pages) are for these locations.
My homepage is optimized for usability and branded key words. I also need to optimize for specific products that have their own landing pages that are integrated (or will be) integrated into the site in other ways.
The key to me is that when someone is arriving at the site because they searched for "Product X" I don't need them to land at a page that showcases company culture.
This also focuses my efforts so I'm not trying to hit product and informational and branded keywords all on one page.

Should you do on-page optimization for a page with rel=canonical tag?
If you ad a rel=canonical tag to a page, should you still optimize that page? I'm talking meta description, page title, etc.

Wrong page ranking on SERP, above more relevant page
Often I will see the wrong page, something less relevant to a particular search, appear higher on the SERP than a more relevant page. Why does this happen and how can it be remedied? I found this Moz article, has anything been written on this topic more recently. Thanks! https://moz.com/blog/wrong-page-ranking-in-the-results-6-common-causes-5-solutions

Data Highlighter - custom page set
I would like to make a custom page set to highlight data on my product pages. However, I don't have a CMS catalog. I use static html pages with names that correspond to the products. They are not all in a "product" folder so don't all have "product" in their name. (or any other consistent term that I could filter out) So it seems that I can't make a custom page set of my product pages. Is it worth renaming all my pages, or moving them into a folder in order to be able to use the product tagging? That would mean that I would have to make 301 redirects for all existing product page urls. Would that adversely affect rankings and wipe out any advantage of the data highlighting?

Old landing page modifications - should I change the content?
One of our most popular landing page is starting to be a little bit out dated, should I keep the old content and update with newer text or is it safe to completely replace the old content with the new content without losing our organic traffic on this page?

How much SEO value does a fashion site get from bolting text onto the bottom of home page? Does the value compensate for cluttering up a page focused on an iconic image?
Getting ready to launch a completely redesigned site for a fashion designer. Since it is a fashion site, visitors do not need text to describe what the site is about., We are weighing three options: 1) clean design with no text (just images and navigational links), 2) bolting on a couple of sentences of text at the bottom of the page to signal keyword terms to the search engines, 3) following the lead of the top ranking site in the category and adding lots of text to the bottom of the page. Do the SEO benefits justify cluttering up the design by bolting text onto the bottom of the home page, and if so, how many characters of text seem to be the minimum to be effective?

Removing OLD pages
Dear all, I was removing tons of old pages from my directory (about 400 pages), I was setingup a 404 custom page, all is fine, so when I go to an existing page I get a 404 and redirected to my 404 page. The problem is Google Webmaster tools list all these pages as 404, and never clean my list (1 year til now), so I assume something is wrong. Question what is the best way or natural to remove old pages from one directory? Note: previously I tryed add on these pages the NOINDEX/NOFOLLOW meta tag and I got from google Soft-404. Thank you
