Eric Ward's urlwire.com - worth a $500 investment?
-
I'm after a turbo boost (direct and indirect) to my site's SERPs.
How beneficial is URLwire.com? Anyone here used it? Worth $495?
Given that Matt Cutts has said links from PR sites don't pass link pop, would URLwire fall into this category? (I'm aware the idea is also to generate backlinks from other referring sites).
Thanks

Subscribe to Ward's linkmoses email newsletter, and purchase the archives. The insights you will gain will be invaluable. I'm not sure that a single link will "turbo boost" your sites rankings. His email archive spans over 2 years and is about 300 pages - a much better investment in my opinion.

If you have content on your website that gets action when shared on Facebook, Twitter, Stumbleupon, Slashdot, Reddit and similar websites then you have something that might get a little attention from Eric Ward's service.
Value to the visitor.
If you have that then it might be worth the $495.
See, it is more up to YOU than it is up to Eric. He is simply going to share your site with another circle of people. He doesn't accept every person who is willing to pay.
I used his service a few years ago for relatively new sites that I felt had very good content. I think that I got ROI but it can be hard to measure. Since then social sharing has really taken off and I just allow that to happen on its own.

My site backlinking search came back with 19k results, that's WAY above the usual number
Looking into the results I found over 18,000 instances of the same 2 websites having links in every single page, staging version of their site. How do I get rid of these? Are they damaging my SEO?

How much 'ranking power' would a link from a privacy policy page of a Big Brand have if the site content is totally unrelated?
Let's say that Site A is a large brand with high authority ( Moz shows it at 90 DA). Site A is about “Blue Shoes”. Site B is about “fishing”. If Site A links from their privacy policy page to Site B … would that inbound link carry enough weight in a way that could impact rankings for Site B given that the content is totally unrelated and it's a link from a privacy policy? I’m asking if the work to get clients/partners do this help. I have a hypothetical question for you all! Site A is a large brand with high authority ( Moz shows it at 90 DA). Site A is about “Blue Shoes”. Site B is about “fishing”. If site A links from their privacy policy to Site B … would that inbound link carry enough weight in a way that could impact rankings? 'Too many links' on our pages.
This figure includes links that sit within our navigational menus. Is there a way to block this somehow so that Google and Moz do not read them as 'internal links'? Thanks in advance.

Is there a difference between .com backlinks and .co.uk?
(We are a UK based business) I am currently looking for sites for guest posting opportunities and I am not sure whether I should prioritize .co.uk sites or go for .com sites. Does it matter? Is more weight given to .co.uk sites if you are based in the UK?

Why is Business.com a valuable link when they are all nofollow?
Earlier today, I received a $50 off coupon for a Business.com listing. Back when I was really learning about directories, lots of people recommended getting one of these listings because editors actually review it to make sure the website linked is of good quality. Even the SEOmoz Directory Guide regards it as a good link. Now, it seems like every outbound link from Business.com has a 'nofollow' tag right when they link to the target website. Furthermore, the actual business listing doesn't even link to the website! Let me take, for example, web design companies: http://www.business.com/internet/web-design/ This directory has tons of 'nofollow' links. On top of that, if you take any of the companies listed and do a search for their business page, the business page doesn't even have a link to their website! That doesn't exactly seem like it's worth $300 a year... Any chance there is something I'm missing here? I'm not fully understanding this, it seems.

How do paid directories like thomasnet.com do so well in the serps? Aren't the Panda updates supposed to be moving us away from this?
With all of the updates/changes to Google's algo, I assumed that paid listings & links like those on thomasnet.com would have less merit. Is this an incorrect assumption?
