Can't rank for a target key word "penalized?"
-
I've been trying to rank for the key word "kayak fishing" for my site www.yakangler.com. Last year when I started working on the SEO for my site I was on page 30 for Google search results so like the 300th result. After tweaking things on my site I managed to get to the second page but have since fallen all the way back to page 25-26 in the search results.
I'm wondering if I'm penalized for this key word. I can't figure out why my site is ranking soooo badly for "kayak fishing"
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I have "Kayak Fishing Ultimate Resource" in my meta title, should it just be "kayak fishing"?
lol and the "
blahblah
" was a fat finger which is fixed.

I actually remember answering your question. It was a while back too.
Try a few things:
Put kayak fishing in your meta title.
H1 tag "kayak fishing" only
I'm not sure but it should be
ends with
but in your source code I see
blahblah
for whatever reason.
Try to build some links with "kayak fishing" only. Don't go crazy just maybe 1-3 links. From OSE I don't think I saw any exact match anchor text at all for "kayak fishing". Google does like a balanced link profile but I'd suggest at least getting a few with that term, just because it doesn't seem you have any at all(maybe just 1-2).

Thoughts on adding "near me" to title tag for local SEO?
I want to lean out my title tags and will most likely be doing an A/B test. They currently have the "Near Me" modifier in there, which I believe Google can distinguish local SEO without it. Thoughts?

What's the point of my blog?
My website, www.toplinecomms.com has a reasonably good blog that gets quite good interaction and sharing. I introduced the blog at the start of 2013 because the general sentiment from all the SEO books and articles I had read was that a good blog could be invaluable to a search marketing campaign. The posts on the blog are keyword optimised and they get great shares and social engagement. However, I have noticed that the blog is stealing my services' pages' thunder! There are some keywords that I am keen for our services pages to rank for, but the blog is beating them to it! So my question is: How should I be using my blog to get my services pages to rank higher?

Entire subfolder not ranking.
I'm currently running an ecommerce site on which an entire subfolder namely the: /category/ extension is not ranking for any keywords. The category pages are being indexed within Google. Pages with very similar content are however being ranked for keywords on extensions such as /pages/, I created a new page to test this and within a week it was ranking for the keywords where /category/ pages have not for months. I was wondering if anyone had come across this issue before and had any solutions or suggestions? Thanks.

Does 'XXX' in Domain get filtered by Google
I have a friend that has xxx in there domain and they are a religious based sex/porn addiction company but they don't show up for the queries that they are optimized against. They have a 12+ year old domain, all good health signs in quality links and press from trusted companies. Google sends them adult traffic, mostly 'trolls' and not the users they are looking for. Has anyone experienced domain word filtering and have a work around or solution? I posted in the Google Webmaster help forums and that community seems a little 'high on their horses' and are trying to hard to be cool. I am not too religious and don't necessarily support the views of the website but just trying to help a friend of a friend with a topic that I have never encountered. here is the url: xxxchurch.com Thanks, Brian

Don't understand this ... :-(
Hello, I'm going nuts as I don't understand what's going on with this domain of a client. We have this classical htaccess redirect from http://domain.com to http://www.domain.com But I'm getting Page Authority for both domains, and the non-www, which shouldn't be crawled, is gettting higher PA .. http://www.myanamar.rundreisen.de - PA 34 http://myanamr-rundreisen.de - PA 36 I attach a file, you see there that google robot is recognizing the 301 redirecht from non-www to www ... But, the site isn't doing good at all in google, it seems the home page has a penalty ... duplicate content due to non-www and www home page? So it would be great if somebody has a hint for me ... my client is losing trust in me Thx! GbDC4.jpg

My Images Aren't Indexed By Goolge
My site is indexed by google, and there hasn't really been much of a problem with my content, but now I am noticing that none of our images are coming up in the images searches of google. I mean none. I have even typed in the alt text of the image verbatim and nothing shows up. I use wordpress if this helps anyone. Any advice would be awesome, Thanks a lot.

Should you try to rank for misspelled keywords?
Hi there, 2 part question: Is it best practice to try to rank for misspelled keywords that bring in lots of traffic or should you instead just try to rank for the correct spelling of that keyword and hope that you rank better on the misspelling as an indirect result? E.G. The misspelled keyword "Hamilton island accomodation" is a common misspelling that brings in traffic but we have an "F" rank for that term (obviously because we spell accommodation correctly on our site). We don't want to misspell anything but are there techniques to rank better for misspellings that won't hurt content quality? The On-Page Optimization tool says that our website doesn't rank in the top 50 on Google Aus for "Accomodation Hamilton Island" or "Hamilton Island Accomodation" but when i do a manual search, we actually are the first result. Is this an error with the On-Page optimization tool? Thanks!
