Duplicate page titles
-
Hi,
I have a Joomla 2.5 site and I use categoryblogs. So I have a page with "reviews". All the reviews are shown on this page and there are about 15 pages of it. In my SEOMoz crawl result I get 71 errors ! about "duplicate titles".
How can I diminish this? I don't know how to show all the reviews in a proper way other than what I have accomplished with categoryblog.

PS: I found this today, which seems to be a pretty good rundown of the pros and cons of various pagination strategies: http://www.ayima.com/seo-knowledge/conquering-pagination-guide.html . Keep in mind that it doesn't take into account how limited Joomla is in this area.

Patrick can you post the site? If you don't feel comfortable doing that you can send it to me in a private message. Please include the specific reviews page/section you mention. I'd like to have a look at how pagination is being handled, whether any rel canonical tags are being used, etc...
Without seeing the site I think the best advice I can give is sort of general:
-
Have the page number included in the title tag and meta description if possible (e.g. Page # - TITLE) as Mike Davis recommends below. This can probably be accomplished with the following extension ( http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/site-management/seo-a-metadata/title-management/14747 ) though I have not had to use that specific extension personally.
-
Implement rel next/prev if possible, though I have not seen any good extensions to accomplish this. The unique titles and descriptions should be fine for now if you can't implement rel next/prev.
-
Ignore that SEOMoz warning next time if you have implemented either of the above solutions.
Good luck!

Wow, that is annoying! A simple solution would be to use a SEO page title module/widget (sorry, I'm not familiar with Joomla, but I'm sure they have one) and add page numbers.
Example: ... Reviews Page One, ... Reviews Page Two, etc.
I had an old site with this same problem on a photo gallery and it solved that issue.
I hope that helps!

Our protected pages 302 redirect to a login page if not a member. Is that a problem for SEO?
We have a membership site that has links out in our unprotected pages. If a non-member clicks on these links it sends a 302 redirect to the login / join page. Is this an issue for SEO? Thanks!

Duplicate Page Content
Hello, After crawling our site Moz is detecting high priority duplicate page content for our product and article listing pages, For example http://store.bmiresearch.com/bangladesh/power and http://store.bmiresearch.com/newzealand/power are being listed as duplicate pages although they have seperate URLs, page titles and H1 tags. They have the same product listed but I would have thought the differentiation in other areas would be sufficient for these to not be deemed as duplicate pages. Is it likely this issue will be impacting on our search rankings? If so are there any recommendations as to how this issue can be overcome. Thanks

Page Title Displaying differently on Google
Hi i am wondering why page title is display differently on google search. The combination of words that are being displayed on google are not on the page and the page title is simply "Camera Filters", however the page is showing as "our range of Camera Filters" (with the same capitalisation). http://awesomescreenshot.com/0cf4r09y27 I have optimised the age as best i can so it removes the OUR RANGE OF preface, however no luck. Any info would be appreciated. Cheers

Page that appears on SERPs is not the page that has been optimized for users
This may seem like a pretty newbie question, but I haven't been able to find any answers to it (I may not be looking correctly). My site used to rank decently for the KW "Gold name necklace" with this page in the search results:http://www.mynamenecklace.co.uk/Products.aspx?p=302This was the page that I was working on optimizing for user experience (load time, image quality, ease of use, etc.) since this page was were users were getting to via search. A couple months ago the Google SERP's started showing this page for the same query (also ranked a little lower, but not important for this specific question):http://www.mynamenecklace.co.uk/Products.aspx?p=314Which is a white gold version of the necklaces. This is not what most users have in mind (when searching for gold name necklace) so it's much less effective and engaging. How do I tell Google to go back to old page/ give preference to older page / tell them that we have a better version of the page / etc. without having to noindex any of the content? Both of these pages have value and are for different queries, so I can't canonical them to a single page. As far as external links go, more links are pointing to the Yellow gold version and not the white gold one.Any ideas on how to remedy this? Thanks.

The pdfs do have a page title (defined in the file/properties tab) However these page titles are not being picked up by the crawler or google. Any ideas how do I fix this? Page rank 2 for home page, 3 for service pages
Hey guys, I have noticed with one of our new sites, the home page is showing page rank two, whereas 2 of the internal service pages are showing as 3. I have checked with both open site explorer and yahoo back links and there are by far more links to the home page. All quality and relevant directory submissions and blog comments. The site is only 4 months old, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on the fact 2 of the lesser linked pages are showing higher PR? Thanks 🙂
