Tired of finding solution for duplicate contents.
-
Just my site was scanned by seomoz and seen lots of duplicate content and titles found. Well I am tired of finding solutions of duplicate content for a shopping site product category page. You can see the screenshot below.
http://i.imgur.com/TXPretv.png
You can see below in every link its showing "items_per_page=64, 128 etc.". This happened in every category in which I was created. I am already using Canonical add-on to avoid this problem but still it's there.
You can check my domain here - http://www.plugnbuy.com/computer-software/pc-security/antivirus-internet-security/ and see if the add-on working correct.
I recently submitted my sitemap to GWT, so that's why it's not showing me any report regarding duplicate issues.
Please help ME

Thank you. I will tell to my developer regarding this issue and than see what they reply.

You could canonical the "/portable-hard-disk" pages back up to "/hard-disk", but honestly, unless this is a widespread problem, I'd probably ignore it. if you have a lot of these sub-categories with duplicate search results, then I'd consider changing up your canonical scheme or NOINDEX'ing some sub-categories - search results just aren't high-value to Google, especially if they start all looking the same.
If this is an isolated occurrence, though, it's a lot of trouble for a relatively minor problem. It would take a pretty deep knowledge of your product inventory and site structure to know for sure, but my gut reaction is that this is a small issue.
-
So right now what should i do to solve this problem ?
-
I talked to the technical team. The screen may be a bit confusing. Your "items_per_page" variations are not being flagged as a duplicate of "/hard-disk/portable-hard-disk/". All of the pages (including the items_per_page variants) are being flagged as near-duplicates (95%+) of "/hard-disk". Basically, since those pages show the exact same products and only differ by a header, we're flagging them as being too similar. Once we do that, then all of the other pages that canonical to the "/portable-hard-disk" page also look like near-duplicates of "/hard-disk".
It's not catastrophic, but if you have enough of these category/sub-category search pages that overlap on their results, you may want to reconsider whether you index all of them. At small scale, it's not a big deal. At large scale, these very similar pages could dilute your ranking ability.
-
We don't currently have a way to ignore warnings/errors, although I know that's on the wish list. Let me ping the Product Team on this one and see if they have any additional insight.
-
Then how can I rip off from seomoz crawler those links ?
-
As best I can tell, your canonical tags are properly implemented and Google doesn't seem to be indexing any URLs with "items_per_page" in them. Our crawler and desktop crawlers may be getting confused because there are internal paths to these variations.
Ideally, that pulldown probably shouldn't be crawlable, but I think your canonical implementation as it stands is ok. I don't see any evidence that Google is having problems with it. It may just be a false alarm on our part.

SEO spider is showing meta descriptions and is not saying that content is duplicate. It means it is not checking rel canonical on these pages as well. So it is not an issue.
Note that duplicate title / desc does not mean content is duplicate.
Tools which are looking at one thing only will give this issue. Tools which are specific for finding duplicate content will not give an issue.
-
I also checked through Xenu and Screaming Frog Spider and both are showing the same thing. Check the attachment
-
But the pages were there before add-on was added. Right ?
If they were then the Google may have crawled them and SEOMoz may have picked them from Google or some other engines which resulted in the issue.
So I suggest to wait and watch as you will get Crawl Errors every week from SEOMoz.
-
I Installed the add-on before the product was added.
-
As of now your rel="canonical" immplementation looks fine. So these errors may have been found when you were not using rel="canonical" and you were not using AJAX for showing the different number of results.
You should wait for next weeks results and the results should come fine.

Issue with duplicate content
Hello guys, i have a question about duplicate content. Recently I noticed that MOZ's system reports a lot of duplicate content on one of my sites. I'm a little confused what i should do with that because this content is created automatically. All the duplicate content comes from subdomain of my site where we actually share cool images with people. This subdomain is actually pointing to our Tumblr blog where people re-blog our posts and images a lot. I'm really confused how all this duplicate content is created and what i should do to prevent it. Please tell me whether i need to "noindex", "nofollow" that subdomain or you can suggest something better to resolve that issue. Thank you!

Duplicate content / title caused by CAPITALS
What is the best way to stop duplicate content warning (and Google classing them as duplicate content), when it is caused by CAPITALS (i.e www.domain.com/Directory & www.domain.com/directory ). I try to always use lower case (unless a place name then i use Capitals for the first letter), but it looks like i have slipped up and got some mixed up and other sites will also be linking to Capitals Thanks Jon

Duplicate content
I'm getting an error showing that two separate pages have duplicate content. The pages are: | Help System: Domain Registration Agreement - Registrar Register4Less, Inc. http://register4less.com/faq/cache/11.html 1 27 1 Help System: Domain Registration Agreement - Register4Less Reseller (Tucows) http://register4less.com/faq/cache/7.html | These are both registration agreements, one for us (Register4Less, Inc.) as the registrar, and one for Tucows as the registrar. The pages are largely the same, but are in fact different. Is there a way to flag these pages as not being duplicate content? Thanks, Doug.

How to find original URLS after Hosting Company added canonical URLs, URL rewrites and duplicate content.
We recently changed hosting companies for our ecommerce website. The hosting company added some functionality such that duplicate content and/or mirrored pages appear in the search engines. To fix this problem, the hosting company created both canonical URLs and URL rewrites. Now, we have page A (which is the original page with all the link juice) and page B (which is the new page with no link juice or SEO value). Both pages have the same content, with different URLs. I understand that a canonical URL is the way to tell the search engines which page is the preferred page in cases of duplicate content and mirrored pages. I also understand that canonical URLs tell the search engine that page B is a copy of page A, but page A is the preferred page to index. The problem we now face is that the hosting company made page A a copy of page B, rather than the other way around. But page A is the original page with the seo value and link juice, while page B is the new page with no value. As a result, the search engines are now prioritizing the newly created page over the original one. I believe the solution is to reverse this and make it so that page B (the new page) is a copy of page A (the original page). Now, I would simply need to put the original URL as the canonical URL for the duplicate pages. The problem is, with all the rewrites and changes in functionality, I no longer know which URLs have the backlinks that are creating this SEO value. I figure if I can find the back links to the original page, then I can find out the original web address of the original pages. My question is, how can I search for back links on the web in such a way that I can figure out the URL that all of these back links are pointing to in order to make that URL the canonical URL for all the new, duplicate pages.

Tags and Duplicate Content
Just wondering - for a lot of our sites we use tags as a way of re-grouping articles / news / blogs so all of the info on say 'government grants' can be found on one page. These /tag pages often come up with duplicate content errors, is it a big issue, how can we minimnise that?

Duplicate Content Question
Just signed up for pro and did my first diagnostic check - I came back with something like 300 duplicate content errors which suprised me because every page is unique. Turns out my pages are listed as www.sportstvjobs.com and just sportstvjobs.com does that really count as duplicate? and if so does anyone know what I should be doing differently? I thought it was just a canonical issue, but best I can tell I have the canonical in there but this still came up as a duplicate error....maybe I did canonical wrong, or its some other issue? Thanks Brian Clapp

Duplicate content and URL's
Hi Guys, Hope you are all well. Just a quick question which you will find nice and easy 🙂 I am just about to work through duplicate content pages and URL changes. Firstly, With the duplicate content issue i am finding the seo friendly URL i would normally direct to in some cases has less links, authority and root domain to it than some of the unseo friendly URL's. will this harm me if i still 301 redirect them to the seo friendly URL. Also, With the url changed it is going to be a huge job to change all the url so they are friendly and the CMS system is poor. Is there a better way of doing this? It has been suggested that we create a new webpage with a friendly URL and redirect all the pages to that. Will this lose all the weight as it will be a brand new page? Thank you for your help guys your legends!! Cheers Wayne
