Setting up a Blog for more inbound links

Site A is my Main Site.
Site B is my Blog.Is using site B to link back to site A a good idea or should site A have it's own blog going after keywords?

My plan is to move the blogs and automated content to site A. I will be changing the design of site B. Hopefully google will reward me moving forward.

As for damage control I would just focus all efforts on Site A unless there is a clear differentiation in content. If you have useful content to publish do so on the blog of Site A and focus on social promotion and outreach. It's a much better use of time if you can get a few links from outreach than another one from a microsite.

Build the blog on the primary domain. Building a blog on another domain to "manufacture links" is something that has not worked with Google for several years - if it even worked well then.

James' advise was solid. Put the blog on your main site and focus your limited resources on producing quality content and on outreach to promote that content. You've got to get good links to at least one of the sites, and with that being as hard as it is, you might as get them to your main site--which means the content needs to be there. Once site A is overflowing with content people are clamoring to link to, then you can think about doing something with site B.

I have always done the site B method and it really has worked well till recently. Now I'm thinking of being more broad with site B keywords and go with the plan A route. The problem is getting good quality back links
So what should I do now for damage control? Leave site B up and go after more general terms and only link back once per article??
I really am looking for solid advice!

In most cases it's probably best for site A to have its' own blog on sitea.com/blog or something to that effect. This ensures any links coming to the blog get attributed to the root domains' domain authority.
If Site B, the blog, is sort of a standalone brand on it's own, then you could make an argument for making a separate site for the blog. Most of the time this isn't the case though b/c if you are simply writing articles on another site and linking back to site a repeatedly this isn't a good strategy.
In this case site B would represent a "micro-site" and I have been advising clients away from those since 2009.

Internal Links & Possible Duplicate Content
Hello, I have a website which from February 6 is keep losing positions. I have not received any manual actions in the Search Console. However I have read the following article a few weeks ago and it look a lot with my case: https://www.seroundtable.com/google-cut-down-on-similar-content-pages-25223.html I noticed that google has remove from indexing 44 out of the 182 pages of my website. The pages that have been removed can be considered as similar like the website that is mentioned in the article above. The problem is that there are about 100 pages that are similar to these. It is about pages that describe the cabins of various cruise ships, that contain one picture and one sentence of max 10 words. So, in terms of humans this is not duplicate content but what about the engine, having in mind that sometimes that little sentence can be the same? And let’s say that I remove all these pages and present the cabin details in one page, instead of 15 for example, dynamically and that reduces that size of the website from 180 pages to 50 or so, how will this affect the SEO concerning the internal links issue? Link profile heavy with press release syndication links caused drop at Penguin 2.0
I'm wrestling with something that I'm hoping members of the community can provide input on.... I've working with an enterprise level client that is in the business of data capture and distribution. I've diagnosed a clear drop of traffic on May 22nd, i.e a loss of search visibility post Penguin 2.0. Their link profile is big! Discussions with internal stakeholders who have been with the company 10's of years confirm that no "link building" service providers have ever been hired and no over-zealous employee is ever likely to have tried to "do" link building internally. They are just one of those lucky companies that by their nature publish information that people want to link to and share. As a first port of call I've grouped links by anchor text and can see groups of hundreds of matching anchors based on their brand URL and specific page titles. The matching anchors have resulted from big take up of interesting data that they have marketed via press releases. NOT for link purposes. My question is this.... Does the community think or have evidence (or can point me toward any case studies) that show that Press release syndication alone could result in: a) a penguin penalty or...

Is it ok to ask for a non reciprocal link
hey guys, got mini discussion question. With rapgenius.com getting penalized today, it raises some questions about linking. What they did is definitely not ok. A link scheme involving their own affiliate network is against Google guidelines for sure. So is it ok to ask for a non reciprocal link if there is no incentive involved and no money changes hands? ie. Someone writes an article related to your article topic, or they reference you without a link. Then uou email the webmaster requesting a link... They add it. Is this against the guidelines?

Is linking out to different websites with the same C-Block IP bad for SEO?
Many SEOs state that getting (too many) links from the same C-Block IP is bad practice and should be avoided. Is this also applicable if one website links out to different websites with the same C-Block IP? Thus, website A, B and C (on the same server) link to website D (different server) could be seen as spam but is this the same when website D links to website A, B and C?

I think penguin had no effect yet on spain. propdental.com remain the same.And propdental.es still growing.No penguin 2.0 effect. I think it will need a few more days to see if there is impact on spain.

Althought i have a question regarding coagnitive SEO, (is regarding a link to propdental.es from unidirectorio.com) i think is a good web, but as generated me an very big amount of links)i have this on link from unidirectorio.com that has generated 2400 links to www.propdental.es with this ancor text "clinica dental con dentistas especialistas en implantes dentales ortodoncia invisalign y carillas" Links is comes from this page http://undirectorio.com/Salud/dentistas/ and then generates 2400I can not remove this link. Link Quality and Anchor Text
ok I was wondering how to determine the quality of a link and if there is a way to tell that the site linking to you could be passing on penalized link juice to your site. Also i would like to know some of yalls opinion on using anchor text links in articles and blogs. Now that google seems to have taken some of its "importance" away

Anchor text for internal links
there has been a lof of discussion on this forum and elsewhere about over optimized anchor text, partial match anchor text vs exact anchor text match, etc. I am wondering iwhether or not exact anchor text matches are good or bad for internal links? Does anyone have anythoughts, or better, any studies? Paul
