Meta Refresh for No Javascript message
-
We're currently using meta refresh tag to check if JavaScript is enabled or not in users browsers. And if not then we redirect them to jsnotfound.aspx page:
<metahttp-equiv="refresh"content="0;url= default.aspx?jse="0"/"></metahttp-equiv="refresh"content="0;url=>
It's being flagged in SEOmoz tools so our developer tried solution highlighted in this Question:
http://www.seomoz.org/q/meta-refresh-nojavascript-url
...but he couldn't get it to work.
Is it really imperative we don't use the meta refresh for this purpose?
Thanks in advance.

I infer from what your saying that the amount of people with javascript disabled in 2013 is probably less than negligible. This is a very good point. Looks like we're perhaps trying to fix the engine of a car we should have got rid of a while aqo...!

Thanks, Chiaryn.
That's news to me that changes had been rolled out (last I heard they were on staging and not working - great interdepartmental communication!)

Hey Lawrence,
I checked a few of the pages that are listed as having a meta refresh on the Australia version of the site and it looks like the meta refreshes have been removed in the source code, but the last crawl was on the 14th for that site, so you would just need to wait for the next crawl to come through sometime today to see those changes reflected in the crawl. The same goes for the US and New Zealand version of the site. All three crawls will be updated within the next couple of days, so you should see those meta refresh errors drop off for those campaigns after the new crawls complete, as they did for your other three campaigns in their recent crawls.
Please let me know if I can help you with anything else.

First, a question for you. Why are you checking if javascript is enabled?

No: 'noindex' detected in 'robots' meta tag
Pages on my site show No: 'noindex' detected in 'robots' meta tag. However, when I inspect the pages html, it does not show noindex. In fact, it shows index, follow. Majority of pages show the error and are not indexed by Google...Not sure why this is happening. The page below in search console shows the error above...

Using the £ sign in meta title
Is it a bad idea to include a £sign in my meta title? It currently has a price incentive in it. Does Google not like this from organic traffic titles/ meta descriptions? Thanks,

Is using part of a meta description already on your site for another product considered duplicate?
I'm writing meta descriptions for this site, trying to keep them different, however, for two product types, I want to add the same info I added in the other likeminded product's meta descriptions. Is this ok as long as it's not the whole sentence or am I really to rewrite the same info another way, which is hard for " quick shipping available for x amount of colors ". Any Advice?

How can my homepage have 2 meta descriptions?
Hi all, When googling our company, I see our main page pop up with 2 different meta descriptions, depending on the search query. The situation
Technical SEO | | NHA_DistanceLearning
The search query 'nha' (on google.nl) returns the main page with a meta description that looks like a random grab from the code by Google itself, starting with 'Ik volg een cursus bij de NHA...' The search query 'nha.nl' (on google.nl) returns the main page with the proper meta description, starting with 'Aanbieder van thuisstudies met onder meer MBO-opleidingen...'. So yeah, I'd like to have the main page only appear with the proper meta description, the latter one. We did have a redirect issue (duplicate homepages) a few weeks ago and programming fixed it. Could this have something to do with a redirect? I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks!0 -
Are nofollow, noindex meta tags healthy for this particular situation?
Hi mozzers, I am conducting an audit for a client and found over 200 instances using meta tags(nofollow, noindex). These were implemented essentially on Blog pages/category pages, tags not blog posts which is a good sign. I believe that tagged URLs aren't something to worry about since these create tons of duplicates. In regards to the category page, i feel that it falls in the same basket as tags but I am not positive about it. Can someone tell me if these are fine to have noindex, nofollow? Also on the website subnav which are related to the category pages mentioned prev, the webmaster have implemented noindex, follow(screenshot below), which seems ok to me? am i right? Thanks 8egLLbo.png?1

Meta tag "noindex,nofollow" by accident
Hi, 3 weeks ago I wanted to release a new website (made in WordPress), so I neatly created 301 redirects for all files and folders of my old html website and transferred the WordPress site into the index folder. Job well done I thought, but after a few days, my site suddenly disappeared from google. I read in other Q&A's that this could happen so I waited a little longer till I finally saw today that there was a meta robots added on every page with "noindex, nofollow". For some reason, the WordPress setting "I want to forbid search engines, but allow normal visitors to my website" was selected, although I never even opened that section called "Privacy". So my question is, will this have a negative impact on my pagerank afterwards? Thanks, Sven
