Hi,
I have done alot of work over the past few weeks to fix errors but I seem to be slding down the rankings again!
I have attached a screenshot of the competitive link analysis. The 2nd competitor along is pushing past me and I just can't see why. What steps should I take and what is the priority?
Thanks,
T23

Hi,
Thank-you, yes the book has been a big project, can't wait for the launch!
Thanks also for taking the time to research this. I have just used open site explorer, it is confusing as it states my page authority is 40, whilst the nearest competitor is 28.
I need to build links but I am not sure that leaving comments on blogs is helping. One thought I have had is to create a gallery with linked images to other websites that have images with me or my food. Do you think this might be give a big boost?
Thanks,
T23

Did you look at the anchor text distribution in open site explorer and compare yours to your competitors? and is the phrase you want to rank for "japanese cooking lessons"?
After a quick look I would say that since a lot of the links to your home page are anchored with your name and also no-follow, you just haven't built enough authority to rank where you want for the more general terms.
If you want people to find you for more local searches "Japanese cooking classes London" and those types, then I would try putting word London somewhere in your home page's title tag and see what happens. More customized title tags across the whole site would probably help you out too.
but i did about 7 mins of investigation, so take it with a grain of salt.
Your site's really nice by the way and congrats on the book!

Hi,
The domain is www.yukiskitchen.com. It is strange that moz rank and trust are higher than the competitor's but we are still being overtaken. The errors are all fixed already.
The only big difference i can see is the pie chart for followed v. no-followed links.
Thanks for your help,

Honestly it would be very hard to tell just based on that screenshot. Links are a quality over quantity thing so the numbers alone won't tell us much. By errors do you mean on-site errors? - duplicate content, missing metainfo, etc. Getting those taken care of should be a prerequisite, so sounds like your on the right track.
If you want to tell us the domains I might be able to be more helpful....Best of Luck!

What will SEO be like in the 2020's?
Hey guys, I would love to hear your thoughts on how you think SEO will change in the 2020's. The 2010's saw some pretty cool stuff like Panda, Penguin, penalties for non-mobile-friendly, non-secure and slow loading sites. What will be more or less important for SEO's in the 2020's than today? How will machine learning and AI change SEO?

Can't generate a sitemap with all my pages
I am trying to generate a site map for my site nationalcurrencyvalues.com but all the tools I have tried don't get all my 70000 html pages... I have found that the one at check-domains.com crawls all my pages but when it writes the xml file most of them are gone... seemingly randomly. I have used this same site before and it worked without a problem. Can anyone help me understand why this is or point me to a utility that will map all of the pages? Kindly, Greg

How do I prevent 404's from hurting my site?
I manage a real estate broker's site on which the individual MLS listing pages continually create 404 pages as properties are sold. So, on a site with 2200 pages indexed, roughly half are 404s at any given time. What can I do to mitigate any potential harm from this?

At the end of the url showing these: **www.domain.com/cateogry/city/district#adult#outdoor#colective ** ? Well really i don't know what to do with the filters. Check if you could help me with that please. Wrong page in serps
Hi
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | niclaus78
I've been working with a law firm's website for a couple of years and we've encounter a problem. The pages were divided to target employers and employees separately. For the very targeted keywords mentioning either employees or employers everything was good but for broader less targeted keywords e.g unfair dismissal keywords chooses either one or the other which is a problem. Now I created this ''bridge'' pages where all the topics are explained and then users are directed to and then they will chose where to go. the problem is a lot of off page was created during this years either targeting on or the other. What I plan to do is: -Create a new site map and changing the priority, so the new pages will have a priority 1 and the others less. - bookmarks, articles, etc will be targeting now to the new pages. I place the new pages linked from the home page so that they get the link juice of the home page and they are also now more a category page in the map, so a level up comparing to the previous ones. Questions: 1- Is it worthwhile adding a rel canonical tag to the new pages and rel alternate to previous pages, or if its not a question of duplicate content it shouldn't have an impact? What other things should I take into consideration? Thanks a lot. nico0 -
Fixing the NAP Interim Idea?
I am realizing that most directory and listings have our old phone number down for our website. And am working on fixing them all. In the interim would it be wise to go ahead and list the old number somewhere on the site (like below the old one on the contact page) or would that create more strings to cut later?

Does 'jump to' navigation work with a hidden div?
Will jump to navigation work when using a hidden div? Basically, we use a navigation system such that when a user clicks on a title, it expands to show the rest of the article, each title has an anchor associated with it, but no where else on the page / site do we link to those anchors. In order to make jump to navigation work, we are considering adding a hidden div with links to the anchors. Does anyone have experience doing this? Did it work?

Good idea? Dynamic to Perkalink URLs for over 10k pages.
Hey guys, We're looking for someone who has already done this. We know permalinks are SEO best practices but changing site stucture can cause alot of ranking and traffic loss. Is it a wise idea to make the transition? How long will we see a dip in rankings before bouncing back?
