Is SEOmoz spider ignoring my redirect?
-
My client was previously serving their website from both a .co.uk and a .com domain. The DNS for each of these domains was pointing to the same place, rather than redirecting.
I saw this as a potential duplicate content problem so I set the .co.uk to 301 redirect on to the .com.
As a user, the 301 seems to be working correctly. However, now that I have done this, SEOmoz is picking up thousands of "inbound" links from the .co.uk domain. Essentially, every single link on the internal site, is being duplicated in my stats as an inbound link as well.
It appears that the spider is ignoring the redirect. I'm not sure if it's a legitimate issue that will upset Google too, or if it's just a bug with SEOMoz's spider.

Hey Matt,
Thanks for reaching out.
What you're likely seeing is the links that are to your co.uk are passing along their links to your .com site via that 301.The 301 itself isn't counted as a link, but any links to those pages with the 301 will be.
I hope that makes sense. Let me know if you have any further questions about that.
Cheers,
Joel. -
Hi Matt,
I am going to guess that the only reason that this is occurring is that when the sites were separate the SEOMoz bots crawled your sites and that data is still in their index. Potentially you could use a secondary tool to check. Possibly http://ahrefs.com/
If this isn't the case I would question your method of running your 301's, but without eyeballing the site/s, I think this question is far to difficult to resolve with the limited information provided.
Dan

I'm shocked! KEYWORD SERPs: GA avg. position vs. SEOmoz
SEOmoz has us our position for a particular keyword as "Not in Top 50". The same keyword is listed in GA with an average position of. 3.0. What am I missing here? When I do a search, I most definitely am not seeing us listed as #3 for this keyword, and tend to believe the SEOmoz number, but why is it so wildly different in GA? Should I have hope? There is another keyword that SEOmoz has us at #4 and it isn't even on the GA list. Can anyone explain this to me? Many thanks.

I like to continue, I have been impressed the quality of the forum topics and discussions I just wonder whether I can afford to justify the fee.1 -
How do I find the corresponding duplicate content pages from my SEOmoz report?
Once I have run my report and the duplicate content pages come up, is there a way to find out which pages have the duplicate content on them? I have one URL but where can I find the duplicate content that corresponds to it? Thanks Barry

If there a basic overview of the SEOMoz Pro tools?
I'm surprised there is no simple overview of all the features anywhere, or a guide on how to use the tools? There's a nice intro video, and a good beginners guide, then BAM! - straight into the Pro Tools (it's a bit daunting for someone learning!) Or at least that I can find... and help or pointers would be great 🙂

SEOMoz SERP Overlay Vs. Opensite Explorer
This may be a simple answer, but when I search for a term and see a website on the SERP, the SEOMoz tool bar shows link data beneath the link. For this site in particular, it shows 300+ links for the root domain and for the page, it shows 8 links. When I put that website in opensite explorer, it shows the same data for the "Page" stats (8 links from 3 root domains), but nowhere can I find where the 315 links from 4 domains comes from. So my questions is why do those links show in the SERP overlay, but not in OSE? il5y9.png

Impact of 301-redirected domains on OSE Metrics
When looking at the OSE metrics (DA, PA, Number Linking RDs etc.) is it purely based on OSEs evaluation of the specific domain or will it take into account links that have been 301-redirected to the domain?
