Google Maps Integration Dynamic url
-
We are integrating Google Maps into a search feature on a website.
Would you use the standard dynamic generated long url that appears after a search or find a way of reducing this to a shorter url.
Taking into account hundreds of results.
Question asked for seo purposes.

I think you are right in observations and thanks for response.
The url is generated when someone puts in a search for a location. it searches the items in that location then shows the embedded map with the flags plus the searched items.
Yes Google should index the url's. Long Url being generated as per example above. This is generated when someone puts in a location search and the location items appear.
Thanks

Hi Jazavide,
Let me see if I can help. I'm not sure I completely understand how the URL is generated, but what you really need to know is if you should redirect the final url to something shorter. Is this correct?
The big question I would want to know first is if you are planning for Google to index these URLs. By that I mean are the URLs generated in such a way that Google will be able to easily follow them (as opposed to links generated by javascript or filling out a form)
Regardless, my gut tells me there's probably no benefit to passing the final URL through a 301 redirect. In general, it's best to avoid redirecting anything unless you have to. Redirects tend to lose link equity and complicate matters, often unnecessarily.
If you're concerned about too many parameters, it might be best to address these either with canonical tags or by setting the parameter handling controls within Google Webmaster Tools.
Feel free to provide any more details you deem relevant and I'll be more than happy to offer any assistance that I can.

What to do with dynamically translated content sharing same urls?
We've just added to an originally English website, Italian and German translations. User can switch between them with right hand drop down language selection menu; then the entire page will be translated (including menu, body, footer) but the urls remain the same. The Italian page have some meta data (titles and descriptions) translated as well. Is it going to be a significantly negative effect on SEO to have the translated pages sharing the same urls?

How to leverage Google Images?
My Google search rankings are improving rapidly at the moment, but a lot of my rankings are for images (presume that means the images are appearing near the top in Google Images). How do I capitalise on that? It's not really much help to me that my images are popular unless it results in traffic to the pages where those images are used. I am running Wordpress so I have the option to have images embed as "no link", "link to attachment page", "link to original image", etc. Is there any advantage of using one of these over the other? I'd really like to set it up so that when a Google Images user clicks "View Image" it loads the attachment page or the host content page rather than the image. Bad SEO? I'm not sure if the fact that I'm using Jetpack Photon CDN image hosting will make this more complicated or not. Tony

Will Google View Using Google Translate As Duplicate?
If I have a page in English, which exist on 100 other websites, we have a case where my website has duplicate content. What if I use Google Translate to translate the page from English to Japanese, as the only website doing this translation will my page get credit for producing original content? Or, will Google view my page as duplicate content, because Google can tell it is translated from an original English page, which runs on 100+ different websites, since Google Translate is Google's own software?

Tracking URLS and Redirects
We have a client with many archived newsletters links that contain tracking code at the end of the URL. These old URLs are pointing to pages that don't exist anymore. Is there a way to set up permanent redirects for these old URLs with tracking code? We have tried and it doesn't seem to work. Thank you!

Google Generating its Own Page Titles
Hi There I have a question regarding Google generating its own page titles for some of the pages on my website. I know that Google sometimes takes your H1 tag and uses it as a page title, however, can anyone tell me how I can stop this from happening? Is there a meta tag I can use, for example like the NOODP tag? Or do I have to change my page title? Thanks Sadie
