Question
I have set up my htaccess file to rewrite "Various URL Structure" to www.mydomain.co.uk. However when i view metrics in Majestic SEO, the url / Subdomain / Root Domain all differ. Why is this happening?
Is this harming my site?
What is common practice when defining URL Structure?Any other quality advise and implementation structure would be much appreciated.
Regards
Mark

Hi Mark,
I've taken a look at your domain in both OSE and Majestic, and don't see anything untoward. I've checked all your 301s and it looks all configured correctly to me.
I see a very very slight difference in the sub-domain and root-domain numbers, which isn't unusual and which I see quite often.
I don't think you have anything to worry about!

Domain Authority Dropped from 13 to 1
Hi there, I know Domain Authority is not a KPI, it's a relative metric but we saw a huge dropped down in our domain authority this week and I got worried. I am trying to understand why this happened? Any idea? Our website link is here https://www.wealthmanagementcanada.com Is it something related to Moz update or with our website? Regards,

How to choose the best canonical URL
In a duplicate content situation, and assuming that both rel=canonical and a 301 redirect pass link equity (I know there is still some speculation on this), how should you choose the "best" version of the URL to establish as the redirect target or authoritative URL? For example, we have a series of duplicate pages on our site. Typically we choose the "cleanest" or shortest non-trailing-slash version of the URL as the canonical, but what if those pages are already established and have varying page authority/backlink profiles? The URLs are: example.com/stores/locate/index?parameters=tags - PA = 54, Inbound Links = 259 example.com/stores/locate/index - PA = 60, Inbound Links = 302 example.com/stores/ - This is the version that currently ranks. PA = 42, Inbound Links = 3 example.com/stores - PA = 40, Inbound Links = 8 This might not really even matter, but in the interests of conserving as much SEO value as possible, which would you choose as either the 301 redirect target and/or the canonical version? My gut is to go with the URL that's already ranking (example.com/stores/) but curious if PA, backlinks, and trailing slashes should be considered also. We of course would not 301 the URL with the tracking parameters. 🙂 Thanks for your help!

Good job! This URL received an grade A ?
What does this mean ? This page still ranks very bad at Google. So what does it mean that it recives a grade A ?Also, if this URL recives Grade A. It should clearly be optmizied very good on the Keyword. Stil its on page 9 in google. That is very very low on this keyword. Alot of bad blogs, foreign pages, pages without the keyword in heading, pages without any good content etc. rank better.Does this score have anything to do with ranking on google ?Something is clearly wrong with this page. The on-grade tool wont tell me what that it is. And probably dont understand either, since it gives A. Is there anywhere I can check this page on what is wrong with it ?http://www.butikksiden.no/archives/5-toffe-canada-goose-jakker and Canada Goose jakker Re-Grade Pa Good Job! Garbled URL's in Private Messages.
Every time I try to put a url in a Private message it gets garbled up with extra chars and then won't go to the right place. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mariah-Carle-Photography Becomes: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Mariah58973jhsdfui-Carle%8594743Photography Ok after that test I deliberately garbled a url and it STILL work in the open forums....

How to Calculate % improvement in Mozrank and Domain Authority
I understand the concept that mozrank and Domain Authority are measured on a logarithmic scale . http://www.seomoz.org/learn-seo/mozrank I'm trying to determine the percentage improvement in the Logrithmic value. For example Original Domain Authority 60 Original Mozrank 5 End Domain Authority 63 End Mozrank 6. So 5% change in DA and 20% change in MozRank. How do we convert these numbers to the real logrithmic change?

Has SEOMoz Domain Authority calc been updated recently
As ever, my apologies if this question's been asked before -- I searched for it, and didn't find it. But, our SEOMoz 'Domain Authority' has recently really jumped (from 67, where it was for many months, to 77). And, our number of Linking Root Domains increased as well, from 1,986 to 3,349) Of course, none of this has translated into Google goodness, but if any of it's true, maybe it WILL in the future? Any thoughts/ideas? Thanks, Dave (www.TeachStreet.com)

How to handle crawl diagnostic errors for the same url. /products & /products/
I have copied on of the errors out of the crawl diagnostics report. Both /products and /products/ are returning an error, and both have pretty good domain authority so I feel like its hurting my site that these show up this way. Both urls create the same page, should I just setup a 301 on the /products with no slash or will that cause more harm... I am using the MODx cms system and that could have something to do with it. | Products | Datalight http://www.datalight.com/products 1 37 5 Products | Datalight http://www.datalight.com/products/ | 1 | 30 | 1 |
