What are we doing wrong with Rich Snippets?
-
So, a client webstore has rich snippets on all products, and it seems they are working fine, and are showing up, the only problem is, that the price for an article is not showing up.
The part of the code, that shows the price is this:
Redna cena:
29,99 €Is the problem that we have the itemprop="price" in a meta tag? I've read around the internet that if you have a lot of meta, this can be a problem.... Can we change it into:
Redna cena:
Would this work, or is there another thing that we can try? The URL for this article is http://www.bigbang.si/igre/sleeping-dogs-le-x360-498998
-
This sounds as a reasonable answer, all the previous things mentioned here have been changed with no positive results.
We will change this and see what happens.
Thanks!
-
A bit late here.
But How I understand it, price can not be a meta, it must be showing to the user, like it is in the schema.org page
itemprop="price">$55.00
http://schema.org/Product -
I will take a while to get the change, and to see the results, but Ill get back to you, thanks!
-
True, I put the closing div in the wrong way. I updated it correctly above now. Drop me a line how it turned out and whether this solved it! cheers
-
Not sure, of course we can change that (probably), we will try it, thanks for the idea.
-
Weird, I was sure I have answered this....
So, yes, I've tested it in the testing tool, and both of the versions, the one that we have on the website, and the one that you suggested, show the results in the same way.
And, not sure if I'm right, but the itemscope div isn't closed at all,
just opens a new one.
Any other ideas, or do I see something in a wrong way with your answer Philipp?
-
Well, the problem here is, that if I put the original HTML into the testing tool, I do see the price show up. And it shows up in the same way if I change it, as you proposed PhilippB.
So the testing tool does not show any difference, as far as I see it, and if I add the URL into the testing tool, it shows the price in the same way...
-
actually, when putting the closing itemprop div to the end, the testing tool returns the correct values.
-
I could be barking up the wrong tree. There is a difference between the price you say and the meta price which has two trailing 00's - this could be why it is ignored?
-
ah, okay. it looks like you closed the itemscope div too early. it should be wrapped around the itemprops.
like so:
<form action="/p/111104/sleeping-dogs-le-x360" method="post">
did you try the testing tool?
http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets
| Redna cena: | 29,99 € |
</form>
-
PhilippB thanks for the idea, but itemscope is declared just above it..
<form action="/p/111104/sleeping-dogs-le-x360" method="post">
| Redna cena: | 29,99 € |
</form>
-
you have to define the Itemscope first, referring to the data vocabulary to state what it is you describe in your itemprop. try this here: http://schema-creator.org/product.php

Duplicate page titles for blog snippets pages
I can't figure the answer to this issue, on my blog I have a number of pages which each show snippets and an image for each blog entry, these are called /recent-weddings/page/1 /2 /3 and so on. I'm getting duplicate page titles for these but can't find anywhere on Wordpress to set a unique title for them. So http://www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk/recent-weddings/…/2/ has the same title as http://www.weddingphotojournalist.co.uk/recent-weddings/…/3/

IIS 7.5 - Duplicate Content and Totally Wrong robot.txt
Well here goes! My very first post to SEOmoz. I have two clients that are hosted by the same hosting company. Both sites have major duplicate content issues and appear to have no internal links. I have checked this both here with our awesome SEOmoz Tools and with the IIS SEO Tool Kit. After much waiting I have heard back from the hosting company and they say that they have "implemented redirects in IIS7.5 to avoid duplicate content" based on the following article: http://blog.whitesites.com/How-to-setup-301-Redirects-in-IIS-7-for-good-SEO__634569104292703828_blog.htm. In my mind this article covers things better: www.seomoz.org/blog/what-every-seo-should-know-about-iis. What do you guys think? Next issue, both clients (as well as other sites hosted by this company) have a robot.txt file that is not their own. It appears that they have taken one client's robot.txt file and used it as a template for other client sites. I could be wrong but I believe this is causing the internal links to not be indexed. There is also a site map, again not for each client, but rather for the client that the original robot.txt file was created for. Again any input on this would be great. I have asked that the files just be deleted but that has not occurred yet. Sorry for the messy post...I'm at the hospital waiting to pick up my bro and could be called to get him any minute. Thanks so much, Tiff

Google local / Rich snippets in multiple locations
Hi All, Something i'm trying to understand about Google local but cant find precise info about what we are thinking of doing. We are located in City A, but also provide our services in almost every city in our country. We broker the service to branches that don't have their own local websites and want to take advantage of being listed in each city by marking up the address of each branch on each of our specific branch pages. All our pages are currently marked up using the physical company address. Would their be any issues marking up separate branch pages to the corresponding branch address, and then taking advantage of Local results in many areas around the country? In other words, Is it possible for a single website to mark up separate pages for different locations and take advantage of local results for each? Thanks in Advance Greg

Are There Negatives to Removing the Rich Snippet Date
On some of our website's pages, Google displays the date of the last update in the search results. We want to remove this because it cuts off our meta description and it can make our page look outdated. Are there any negative consequences that you can think of when removing the date rich snippet.

Far away from top 50, am i doing it wrong or does it come down to linkbuilding?
Im currently far away from top 50 of a very crucial search term i google. Its my frontpage and the search term is aimed towards the city i live in Im having a hard time determing if its just a matter of linkbuilding. My concrern is if google have some kind of punishment on my frontpage or if the page. It could be a combination of SEO optimization that is not good enough and too little external links for the time being. The page has been live for a small month. Im in Denmark so there is no "sandbox" 🙂 my frontpage can be visited here:

We have a decent keyword rich URL domain that's not being used - what to do with it?
We're an ecommerce site and we have a second, older domain with a better keyword match URL than our main domain (I know, you may be wondering why we didn't use it, but that's beside the point now). It currently ranks fairly poorly as there's very few links pointing to it. However, the exact match URL means it has some value, if we were to build a few links to it. What would you do with it: 301 product/category pages to current site's equivalent page Link product/category pages to current site's equivalent page Not bother using it at all Something else
