Assigning g+ page as author?
-
Hey,
Recently we are quite disturbed about if we should assign our business g+ page as an author for main pages of the site and home page?
I will explain shortly:
We are a group of professionals that write content (each one on his own subject), the posts / reviews / videos etc... we make are each assigned to our personal g+ profiles. Now my question is:
What should we do with pages like the homepage or main pages?
Should we assign the website g+ business page as the author? or publisher is enough? -
That's correct, Gina. Eliran, you need to set rel="publisher" on your home page and tie it to the company page on G+. Using rel="author" set to a company page won't work (it may check out as okay on the rich snippet testing tool, but it won't appear in the SERPs, and it won't tie the G+ page and the site together in the Knowledge Graph)
-
Sheldon, I'll leave this to you for the final call. But I would say "yes", a Home page should be publisher, not author.
-
Thanks.
Just please let me get it clear: So I shouldn't use Rel Author on homepage? and assign the website G+ as the author?
Publisher is enough?
-
Hi Eliran,
I believe both Sheldon and I have both answered your question by saying to use rel=publisher on the Home page.
Is there something we are both not understanding about your question?
-
Hi Gina, Sheldon,
Thanks for your answers.
As you can see here: www.websiteplanet.com I already did what you said long ago.
Every page on my website have rel=publisher of the company g+ account and every post / review etc.. have in addition rel=author of the personal author. My question is, should I set rel author ot homepage also? and set it as the company g+ profile.
-
Gina is correct, Eliran. rel="author" is intended only for personal G+ profiles. You would need to set up your company's G+ page as the publisher and embed the rel="publisher" tag on your site, then use rel="author" for each individual author. You can review the procedure here: http://support.google.com/webmasters/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=1708844
-
My understanding on this is that it's best to use rel=author for individual attribution and re=publisher for the business.
I would use publisher for Home and pages on the website that represent the business as a whole, not individuals.
Hope that makes sense.

Company FB Page Automatically Friend-Requesting Admins' Contacts
Hola, So today we added 3 or 4 admins to our company FB page. Our company FB consists of a 'profile' and that 'profile' has create a FB 'page' for the business. All of a sudden, the profile (not the company 'page') started to get a new friends. We thought this was weird as we weren't using this for promotion, we were using the company FB page. Anyway, when we dug a little deeper, we found the profile had automatically sent friend requests to all of the admins' contacts (around 2,000 people!). When we checked the friend request page, we realised we can't cancel all the requests, they have to be done individually! Why would FB do this? It might not be so bad if it was actually inviting the admins' contacts to 'like' the business page, but it's just adding them to the main profile's friend list. The only solution we can find is to deactivate/delete the profile and keep the company page with all the admin attached. Any ideas on this one? It's very weird and now it just looks like our fleldgling business is spamming people! Cheers, Lewis

What do you do when your Facebook page is Unpublished?
The page in question has been there for about 5 years and has about 80 followers. It is for a business that sells steel plate (B2B) and everything is totally compliant with Facebook T&C as far as I can tell. It's been unpublished with the statement "Your Page has been unpublished and it cannot be published again." We did an appeal about 6 weeks ago and heard absolutely nothing.... Generally we got no likes, no comments and reached about 20 people with each post. So I am lost as to why we were banned and lost as to what we do next It's fine if they want to unpublish - it's their site - what's frustrating is the arbitrariness, the lack of information as to why it was banned and lack of communication. It's fine if it's a spam site (except if you are a spammer) but I'm selling boring steel plates..... pwqkaz1xzkx7myx2ncwn

Friends who like same Facebook page not showing correctly
I have a strange thing going on with my Facebook pages. The "friends who also like this page" is showing wrong numbers, just 1 respectively 5. In reality this number must be much higher. When I saw a profile of someone who coincidentally liked both pages, the numbers of friends who also liked those pages said 30 respectively 48. I remembered that a while ago I changed categories of at least one of those pages. So now I just checked that theory and changed the category of one of those pages back: The 1 went up to 26. When going back to the category I have right now, it's back to 1. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this, kind of merge those numbers?

Is opening multiple Facebook pages a good strategy?
I currently operate a Facebook page with ~4,000 fans who are fairly active. In the nearby future I am planning on opening up websites in my most important target locations (mostly for legal reasons) We offer several worldwide products that are extremely popular and not all represented on Facebook. Given the above background info, my questions are: Is it worthwhile to open and build up Facebook channels per language Is it worthwhile to open and build up Facebook channels per "product" What are the SEO implications of each in addition to improving our social profile. thanks!

Is it wise for employees to be tied to a company's content with rel=author?
We're an e-commerce company that sells consumer goods. We are launching a blog that will have advice, tips, etc. on topics related to our industry. I'd like for us to implement rel=author on the content. If we rel=author the content to an employee, what are the possible repercussions if that employee leaves the company? I know the markup is pretty new and hasn't been widely implemented, but has anyone dealt with this?

Facebook Page Options
I know that facebook allows you to change your personal profile to a page. But now they have something else and I don't know what it is. It's another option that might be better than a page. This is for a company. Anyone know what I'm looking for? Thanks!

Does anyone know of a good place where I can make or have an iframe hosted for a page tab on Facebook?
I just want a simple place that will host an image for the tab. I don't want it to look cheap or tacky (obviously) Any suggestions?
