Google suggesting a translation
-
Hi everybody, I notice since some months that Google when used for german language results proposes a translation next to the listing of one of my websites. When searching for english results (hl=en) it does not propose a translation! My website is clearly in german (given as target in GWMT and by meta tag). Other pages on the same domain are not treated this way by Google. No translation is proposed for all subpages of this website.
Obviously, Google considers the homepage of this website english instead of german. Any fix for that?
It is a *.org

You're answer is substantially correct, but I remind you all that Google is not perfect and sometimes it pretend a site is in a language, which is not the one used (i.e.: sometimes it consider some Spanish sites as Portuguese or Galician or even Catalan.
That hiccup Google have may be due to browser language configuration, IPs of the site or others variants.
Sincerely I would not worry that much.
Said that, if you were able to share the domain name, that would help all of us in finding a better answer to your question.

Google shows the translate option because on your page you probably have several words that are in English.
A simple way to check if your homepage is also considered in German is to use the advanced search options in Google, select the in German language and do a site:-query for your site.
Since you are saying the internal pages of your website don't show this problem - think of this: do you have backlinks to your home from websites in English and not to your internal pages?

Why Google is not indexing each country/language subfolder on the ranks?
Hi folks, We use Magento 2 for the multi-country shops (its a multistore). The URL: www.avarcas.com The first days Google indexed the proper url in each country: avarcas.com/uk avarcas.com/de ... Some days later, all the countries are just indexing / (the root). I correctly set the subfolders in Webmaster tools. What's happening? Thanks

Google Analytics - whats best way to set up to track users on geotargeted sub folders & tlds ?
Hi ive got a client site just about to launch into 2 new territories (German Germany & Turkish Turkey) The existing/main site is in English & targets English keyword usage globally via domain.com and is not geotargeted in anyway. Analytics is set up for this on domain.com and tracking accurately and GWT is set up too. Now we have added a Turkish language site via a subfolder (domain.com/tr/) & the German site (domsain.com/de/) BUT this German subfolder will be domain mapped to a TLD (domain.de) eventually.. So what's best way to configure/set up Google Analytics to track users so can view the international sub-sites as individual sites etc ? (& GWT for that matter) ? Also after doing this i will be setting up in Moz Anlytics as separate campaigns so how do you set up so only draws in the Analytics data specific to these sub-folders ? All Best Dan

Google Places and Hotel Finder
I work with a few hotels in Costa Rica and Nicaragua. Google Places has not launched in these regions so it has been impossible for me to start an account and get my properties listed in hotel finder. Somehow my competition has managed to get one of their properties listed and it's killing me! Does anyone know of any way to speed up the process? I'm very involved with Google+, FB, Twitter, Pinterest but G Places and Hotel finder or Google Maps don't want to pick me up. Any ideas? Thanks Mozzers. aSrDvhr

Are my translated pages damaging my ranking?
Hi there, I have a site in English but with duplicates in different languages. The first problem is that these translated versions of my site receive no ranking on google stars (while the english does) - why is this? The second problem is that SEOmoz counts the errors on my site and then duplicates this error count for all the translated versions of my site - meaning I have a huge amount of errors (too many on-page links). Add this to the fact that I use affilite ID´s to track different types of traffic to my site - so all page urls in english and other languages, with an affiliate id on the end of the url, count as an error. This means I have a huge amount of on page errors indicated by SEOmoz, plus no ranking for my translated pages - I think this is really harming my overall ranking and site trust. What are your opinions on this?

Does Google take into account the place where the server is hosted to rank the pages.
Does Google take into account the place where the server is hosted to rank the pages. What I mean is, if I have a server in USA and I am working for the Spain marketplace: Will Google rank better my pages for this market if the server were hosted in Spain?

IP Redirection vs. cloaking: no clear directives from Google
Hi there, Here is our situation:we need to force an IP Redirection for our US users to www.domain.com and at the same time we have different country-specific subfolders with thei own language such as www.domain.com/fr. Our fear is that by forcing an IP redirection for US IP, we will prevent googlebot (which has an US IP) from crawling our country-specific subfolders. I didn't find any clear directives from Google representatives on that matter. In this video Matt Cutts says it's always better to show Googlebot the same content as your users http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFf1gwr6HJw&noredirect=1, but on the other hand in that other video he says "Google basically crawls from one IP address range worldwide because (they) have one index worldwide. (They) don't build different indices, one for each country". This seems a contradiction to me... Thank you for your help !! Matteo
