Alternatives to include in the plan: (something is missing?
-
Having a blog and generating attractive content in order to attract links
-
Global directories How effective are they?
-
Forums with dofollows
-
Local directories
What really works?
Thanks in advanced.

Thanks Brett for the reply. I just got the point.

Have personally not found global directories to be the best way of building links. In terms of directories, getting a link on a good quality site relevant to your industry is much better. For instance, if you are working with a travel company get links from tourist boards.
Increasingly though it seems to me it is getting harder to actually get good quality links from relevant sites without paying for at least some of them.
I think the main thing to remember with links is quality over quantity. Half a dozen good links is far better than a hundred average ones.
Link building is tough at the best of time, so the best of luck with it!

What are your link-building strategies?
Link-building seems to be the biggest SEO item that still remains foggy to me. I was wondering what this community's thoughts and strategies are around in for your own personal projects. I think if I can hear some real life success stories, it might make more sense to me in the long run. Anything, good or bad, is welcome!

Therefore I would like to put a local linkbuilding company per country to help us get more organic traffic. Could anyone point me in the right direction ? Thanks in advance for your help.

Linking strategy between my own sites
Hi, I have one main site, let's call it food.com I also have 10 smaller sites, let's call them mexicanfood.com, indianfood.com, italianfood.com etc food.com is on its own separate dedicated server the 10 smaller sites are all on a shared IP in hostgator I don't want Google to think that I have created the 10 sites for only purpose of creating links to each other. So, would you recommend that all those 10 sites link to each other? or should there be no interlinking within those 10 same IP domains? What about linking from those 10 sites to my main site? How should I structure my own backlinks not to get penalized by Google ?

How do we measure our link strategy?
We're new to link strategy and would really appreciate any help anyone can give us. We are inviting the top food bloggers (aka "linkerati") in the country to visit and hopefully share web content with us. What we don't know is how to measure the results of this... Does anyone have any suggestions, or perhaps a "dashboard" that they could show us to give us some ideas? All help gratefully received!

Link Building Strategy Advice
Hi, I was wondering what everyone's general strategy is for link building. We're doing it all ourselves manually (i.e. not paying $5 for 100,000 links) and are using the Site Explorer tool to find links to competitors and related websites. The majority of sites are blogs and directories which ask for payment ($50 per month for example). We're obviously looking for free links as well but we're finding that pretty much every site wants something in return (cash or reciprocal link) - unless the content is amazing, why would anyone link to another site without an incentive? We're focussing heavily on content and writing articles, blogs, press releases every week but the subject matter isn't always exciting enough for someone to really want to link to it naturally. Thoughts?

Keyword Strategy for Very Large Website Launch
My friend and I are launching a website used to track alcoholic beverages. It has over 115k pages, three tier site structure. I am curious about the keyword strategy for the homepage. I know I will get a lot of long tail search traffic for drink names and how to mix drinks. Do I need a Keyword Strategy for my homepage with so many internal pages? Its a new brand we created, not a keyword domain. We would like to rank for how to mix drinks, etc... However with the number of pages we already have a lot of internal link juice. Where should link building be focused?
