Crawl findings 301 redirects I didn't make?
-
Hi,
I'm new to SEOMOZ Pro and loving it so far, but was confused as to how the 51 page Crawl of my site (http://cryptophoneaustralia.com) found so many 301 redirects. 18 to be exact.
It's a Wordpress site, and my htaccess file has no 301's in it, so I'm kind of confused as to where to start looking as to why they've shown up in the crawl.
I've been building sites for years, and use 301's quite regularly, but this site should have none.
The site was originally on a subdomain until it was ready to go live, then I moved the site to it's current domain and ran the Velvet Blues plugin to update all the URLs. I then went through and manually changed the ones in areas where this plugin tends to miss.
The site still functions fine, it just bothers me why the 301's are being found in the crawl.
Thank you.

Thank you,
That's probably what's happening. I thought changing the slug etc would just cause the database to be updated.
All good. Thank again.

WordPress creates internal redirects sometimes (if your server configuration allows it), for example if you change your permalink structure or a post URL (slug), the old address will redirect to the new one. Maybe that is what you are seeing?
You can check all your internal WP rewrite rules with this tool: http://www.askapache.com/wordpress/rewriterule-viewer-plugin.html

Moz crawl duplicate pages issues
Hi According to the moz crawl on my website I have in the region of 800 pages which are considered internal duplicates. I'm a little puzzled by this, even more so as some of the pages it lists as being duplicate of another are not. For example, the moz crawler considers page B to be a duplicate of page A in the urls below: Not sure on the live link policy so ive put a space in the urls to 'unlive' them. Page A http:// nuchic.co.uk/index.php/jeans/straight-jeans.html?manufacturer=3751 Page B http:// nuchic.co.uk/index.php/catalog/category/view/s/accessories/id/92/?cat=97&manufacturer=3603 One is a filter page for Curvety Jeans and the other a filter page for Charles Clinkard Accessories. The page titles are different, the page content is different so Ive no idea why these would be considered duplicate. Thin maybe, but not duplicate. Like wise, pages B and C are considered a duplicate of page A in the following Page A http:// nuchic.co.uk/index.php/bags.html?dir=desc&manufacturer=4050&order=price Page B http:// nuchic.co.uk/index.php/catalog/category/view/s/purses/id/98/?manufacturer=4001 Page C http:// nuchic.co.uk/index.php/coats/waistcoats.html?manufacturer=4053 Again, these are product filter pages which the crawler would have found using the site filtering system, but, again, I cannot find what makes pages B and C a duplicate of A. Page A is a filtered result for Great Plains Bags (filtered from the general bags collection). Page B is the filtered results for Chic Look Purses from the Purses section and Page C is the filtered results for Apricot Waistcoats from the Waistcoat section. I'm keen to fix the duplicate content errors on the site before it goes properly live at the end of this month - that's why anyone kind enough to check the links will see a few design issues with the site - however in order to fix the problem I first need to work out what it is and I can't in this case. Can anyone else see how these pages could be considered a duplicate of each other please? Checking ive not gone mad!! Thanks, Carl

Fixing temporary redirects
Hi all, I recently had an issue whereby the Moz crawl was showing up thousands of instances of duplicate content. I solved (or so I thought) this issue on a Magento-based eCommerce website by enabling canonical URL tagging on product pages and category landing pages. This reduced the instances of duplicate content dramatically (by the thousands!) however it created a new issue of thousands of temporary redirects. All of the research I have done has suggested that I should be setting these as permanent redirects somehow, but I am not sure how to do this or how to resolve this issue. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much. Josh

Crawl Report Warnings
How much notice should be paid to the warnings on the SEO Moz crawl reports? We manage a fairly large property site and a lot of the errors on the crawl reports relate to automated responses. As a matter of priority which of the list below will have negative affects with the search engines? Temporary RedirectToo Many On-Page LinksOverly-Dynamic URLTitle Element Too Long (> 70 Characters)Title Missing or EmptyDuplicate Page ContentDuplicate Page TitleMissing Meta Description Tag

How do I force a crawl?
In the campaign overview it reads that 0 pages were crawled. Also got an email saying that a comprehensive audit will be done in 7 days. But the 'crawl in progress' wheel disappeared. I think it stopped, and I need to submit that report to substantiate buying the tool! How do I force a crawl?

Is it possible to exclude pages from Crawl Diagnostic?
I like the crawl diagnostic but it shows many errors due to a forum that I have. I don't care about the SEO value of this forum and would like to exclude any pages in the /forum/ directory. Is it possible to add exclusions to the crawl diagnostic tool?

Issue in number of pages crawled
i wanted to figure out how our friend Roger Bot works. On the first crawl of one of my large sites, the number of pages crawled stopped at 10000 (due to the restriction on the pro account). However after a few weeks, the number of pages crawled went down to about 5500. This number seemed to be a more accurate count of the pages on our site. Today, it seems that Roger Bot has completed another crawl and the number is up to 10000 again. I know there has been no downtime on our site, and the items that we fixed on our site did not reduce or increase the number of pages we had. Just making sure there are no known issues with Roger Bot before I look deeper into our site to see if there is an issue. Thanks!

Sub-domain not crawled
One of our sites was recently re-designed. The home page is a landing page (www.labadieauto.com) and I moved the blog to this domain (labadieauto.com/blog/) and put a link is the bottom left of the home page. Since the change the SEOMOZ campaign overview is showing only 1 page crawled. This is not setup as a sub-domain so why isn't it showing in the crawl? Help!
