Where To Add New Content In Site URL?
-
I'm planning to add a new section to the website that will increase visitor traffic and social sharing by using regularly updated video content.
I'm thinking of adding the videos to YouTube and Vimeo as their own channels and then host those videos on the site aswell using a cloud storage solution. Is this a good overall strategy?
Where would I add it in the URL so it generates the most SEO benefit for the whole website?

@Thompson those articles are perfect for what I am trying to do.
It raised something I hadn't considered - if I host on my own site and allow people to embed the videos on their sites (which is a backlink, right?) it could cause issues with providing additional bandwidth for a good visitor experience!
Also, my own site ranking above YouTube and Vimeo for the content is an important consideration - and probably difficult. I could long tail the titles for YT and Vim and short tail(!) them on my site - I wonder if this would have an influence because most searchers will just use two or three words to find the content?

Agree with Thomason about sub domain and why you shouldn’t add content on the sub domain! As far as your question is concern that talks about where to add this content is actually your choice but if you have videos related to products that you are selling on your eCommerce store then try adding the videos in the product detail page and this will result in increasing the overall conversion rate.
Hope this helps!

Agree, subdomains are treated by search engines as different domains, then no benefit goes from subdomain.domain.com to www.domain.com.
If the new content that you are creating has to do with www.domain.com's content, then it should be on a subdirectory.

Whatever you do, don't add the videos to a subdomain, Ubique. (e.g. new-section.mysite.com) You definitely want them in a subdirectory of the main site (www.mysite.com/new-section)
There are two extraordinarily good posts here on SEOMoz on how to plan and implement exactly what you're thinking of doing. Both are by Phil Nottingham, one of the better respected video SEO specialist out there.
Here's the post on planning a video strategy.
Here's his guide to video hosting and embedding. He specifically addresses your question about Vimeo vs YouTube vs cloud.
Those'll give you a full night's reading to get your head around
That the kind of info you were looking for?

Optimizing 2 identical sites for different States
We have 2 websites that are about 99% similar in content, the only difference being the references to the State (CO and IN) and location information. Any recommendations on meta information or other ways to make sure we are not penalized for duplicate content? Thanks in advance!

New Local Tracking Number for Places vs an 800 Number.
I am having a problem with local search for my business. I submitted the same NAP (Name, Address, Phone) info to Google Places as I have submitted via LocalEZE and Universal Business Listing. Here is the issue. The local number that is being used does not have any way to track calls, meaning the phone company (xo communications) does not give us the number of incoming calls. To add call tracking to the local numbers through our PBX system is very expensive, $2000 per store. Also to transfer this local number to a call tracking company (like callsource or whoiscalling) is a lot of trouble and not an option either. I need to track the call count somehow so I have two options left. 1) Get a new local number (that is also a tracking number through a phone tracking company) and then submit this to Google Places, LocalEZE and Universal Business Listing. The issue with this is that all of our citations will be re-set with a new local number, basically we'd have to do local SEO all over again. 2) Use the main 800 number in Google Places, this can be tracked. However, then our local number is on all of the NAP citations and Google Places will be the only web property with an 800 number. What are your thoughts?

Where to host viral campaign content?
I'm about to launch a series of viral videos for a growing UK brand, in which the viewer will have control of the storyline (e.g. tippex bear http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ba1BqJ4S2M). It will start with one theme (1 main 'landing page' video with a series of 'ending' videos). If successful, there will be more themes added in the same format (on-going campaigns). Each campaign will feature high volume niche keywords and will hopefully appear in the SERPs. The keywords will not compete directly with the main branded website but there will be some relevance. My question is, where is the best place to host the content? YouTube = max exposure, easier to get vid preview into SERPs but links to site are nofollow? must pay for customised page functionality - see this link http://www.quora.com/How-did-they-make-the-Tipp-ex-Interactive-YouTube-video **Microsite **= keyword rich domain for each theme with links to main site? more difficult to rank with new domains? Main website = (DA=44) easier to rank using existing domain, helps increase DA with new linkbait? Use video sitemap to appear in SERPs Blog = as above (blog hosted on main domain), but keeps main site focussed on core keywords I assume YouTube will achieve best reach/buzz, but would I miss out on any SEO benefits? Thanks.
