Domain Authority / Page Authority
-
I manage a site that has home page authority of 69, and overall domain authority of 63. To improve domain authority, would it help to remove some of the pages that have 0 page authority? There are over 1,000 pages to this site, and I always thought that the more pages you have, the better (generally). But, does it actually hurt the site to have pages that Google perceives as having 0 page authority, or does this have no bearing? Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

The guys above are pretty much right, but to try and explain:
Domain authority, if you don't already know is really just an indicator of the total number of links and unique domains linking to your site (as opposed to just a single page). The more domains the better and works very similarly to PR.
Here's a Whiteboard Friday on Domain Authority and Trust - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/whiteboard-friday-domain-trust-authority - (about 7:45 fo DA)
And here's the Whiteboard Friday on how that's used in the SEOmoz tools - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/whiteboard-friday-domain-authority-page-authority-metrics - (part 2, round about the 8 minute mark, but worth watching it all).
Now, your question about whether linking out to pages effects DA we need to think about how PR works (as it's kinda the same) and as shown in the first video it doesn't matter how you interlink at the page level, but more the domain level. So links coming into your domain, on any page, determine your DA (to simplify it). And as such linking to low PA pages shouldn't have any effect.
Also linking out to other domains shouldn't effect your DA either and if I had to try and prove that I would probably turn to this YOUmoz piece from Hamlet batista - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/training-the-random-surfer-two-important-adjustments-to-the-early-pagerank-model - which is not as easy to digest, but if we assume DA works like PR then there's be little to no benefit in cutting those links out.
If you are worried about how you link then you may get some advantage from is streamlining the pages by consolidating them. Have a read of this and see if it helps - http://www.seomoz.org/blog/link-consolidation-the-new-pagerank-sculpting
Also, the best way to improve your site's DA is to build links from more domains wherever possible into these pages with low PA.
I'm going to publish this and have a read in case I need to edit or have wandered off topic, but hopefully it's useful for you

I'd not remove pages from a site (unless they are duplicated, or void): the more the pages, the more the PR internal flow (if you a have a well designed site architecture).
I agree with David: building some authoritative links from many different resources is the way to improve your DA.
-
I don't think that hurts your domain authority. At least, in my experience it never has.
The way to get your DA up is by getting more authoritative links, a higher diversity, and that is pretty much the basis of it.
Work on getting authoritative and hard to get links like .EDU, links from high PR sites, etc...

Domain Authority important if we pursue longtail non-competitive keywords?
Hi, We currently have a relatively low DA score of 26. We have been working to increase it but of course it takes time. We are starting to adapt our approach and rank for non-competitive, long-tail keywords. If our DA is very low, will this affect our longtail keyword ranking even though there is very little competition for those? Thanks

My main site is www.isacleanse.com.au (Obviously targeted to Australian Market) and also www.isacleanse.co.nz targeted to NZ. The main Keywords im targeting are 'Isagenix' for both and also Isagenix Australia, Isagenix Perth, Sydney (Australian cities) and Isagenix NZ, Isagenix New Zealand, Isagenix Auckland etc.. for NZ The Australian site gets a lot more traffic and Australian market gets a lot more searches - I also have a section www.isacleanse.com.au/isagenix-new-zealand/ on the Australian site. The question is am I best off redirrecting the .co.nz domain completley to the Australian Domain to give it extra SEO Juice?0 -
Sub domain on root domain
Hello,
Intermediate & Advanced SEO | | dror999
I have a question that I can't find a good answer on.
I have a site, actually a "portal"/ "directory" for service providers.
Now, for start, we opened every service provider own page on our site, but now we get a lot of applications from those providers that thy want sites from their own.
We want to make every service provider his own site, but on sub domain url. ( they don’t mind… its ok for them)
So, my site is www.exaple.com
There site will be: provider.exaple.com
Now I have two questions:
1. can it harm my site in SEO?
2. if one from those sub domain , punished by google because is owner do "black hat seo" , how it will affect the rood domin? It can make the root domain to get punished?

Ranking slipped to page 6 from page 1 over the weekend?
My site has been on page one for 2 phrases consistently from May onwards this year. The site has fewer than 100 backlinks and the link profile looks fairly even. On Friday we were on page 1, we even had a position 1, however now we are on page 6. Do you think this is Penguin or some strange Google blip? We have no webmaster tools messages at all. Thanks for any help!

Using author on every page of website?
I'm currently get to grips with schema and one thing im using is author on my blog posts and seeing my photo etc on organic searches which are related. I see one of my competitors is using author on every page on their website, not just blog posts etc. Are there any recommendation when it should be used? Should it be site wide or is it really intended for blog posts etc? Would it be wrong for me to use on every page of my website as one of my businesses is myself as a lone person? This is what you get when searching for driving lessons in just about any town! https://www.google.co.uk/#gs_rn=15&gs_ri=psy-ab&tok=LS_DOrAHswmHC9_8AJZEJA&suggest=p&pq=driving instructor brighton&cp=20&gs_id=1k2&xhr=t&q=driving+lessons+crawley&es_nrs=true&pf=p&sclient=psy-ab&oq=driving+lessons+craw&gs_l=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_cp.r_qf.&bvm=bv.47244034,d.d2k&fp=45c2f917e11bca99&biw=1680&bih=843 Any comments welcome! How do you build domain trust and authority ?
I am doing some link building and was hoping to get some clear information about the quality of the links and what I need to build a higher domain trust and authority. My sites page I wish to build for has: DA 22 PA 33 MR 4.6 I am looking at back links with these figures Considering outbound links are equal, which pages can help build my page ? page1 DA 66 PA 48 MR 4.8 page2 DA 66 PA 35 MR 3.75 page 3 DA 66 PA 28 MR 3.5 page 4 DA 41 PA 18 MR 2.73 Page 4 DA 41 PA 18 MR 1.87 Do I need back links with a Domain Authority Higher than my own ? PA higher than my own ? or MR higher than my own ? or would any of these pages be able to improve my own ? Thank you in advance for helping with this as I do not want to spend 6 months building the wrong links.

Root domain or sub domain? WWW. or NOT WWW......
I am a little confused! I use vidahost whom I have to say I find very helpful. I currently have the domains www.fentonit.co.uk and www.fentonit.com, now the websites was set up using the www.fentonit.com and I have www.fentonit.co.uk as a parked domain pointed to the www.fentonit.com. Confused yet? Now because I wanted the website to show www.fentonit.co.uk I added some code I was given by the guys to the .hta access file and viola up it comes as the .co.uk which is what I wanted. So if your still here and havent A: Killed yourself yet or B: Went to the Pub Then my questions are: 1. Is there going to be an issue from an SEO point of view having my site set up this way and if so how do I resolve it? 2. Would I be better using the root domain fentonit.co.uk (I think this is the root domain, although it iscurrently parked and pointed) as opposed to the sub www domain?.......and finally.......? 3. If it is set up as I stated what exactly would be my root domain, would it be the .co.uk or the .com? Sorry and I completely understand if your not interested in answering it but if you do.....Thanks in advance and I'll take you to the pub...lol Craig www.fentonit.co.uk ( i think)
