Should I disavow without a manual penalty?
-
Hi all!
I currently had someone remove about 70 bad backlinks pointing to our site. Is it worth disavowing the rest? We don't have any manual penalty or anything like that, but is it the sort of thing to use as a precautionary measure only? There are about 100 links in the disavow file that I had built.
Thank you!

If you know they are bad, I would recommend diavowing them. You never know when or if you'll get a warning. I would err on the side of caution and go ahead and disavow. There is nothing saying you have to, but it makes the most sense to me.

This is something we have been wondering as well. We were wondering if some of our backlinks were hurting us because our ranking went down. We decided we were going to try it out, but continue trying to get good, solid links. If I find out anything else, I'll let you know, but please do the same!

How can I optimise my key pages for new (related) key phrases as they arise, without compromising the original optimised keywords?
I have an important product page that I've fully optimised for a couple of specific key phrases. There are some other really good (related/similar) key phrases it's starting to rank on the first page for which I'd like to increase ranking on further. How can I optimise/improve ranking for these without compromising ranking for other keywords?

Will a Google manual action affect all new links, too?
I have had a Google manual action (Unnatural links to your site; affects: all) that was spurred on by a PRWeb press release where publishers took it upon themselves to remove the embedded "nofollow" tags on links. I have been spending the past few weeks cleaning things up and have submitted a second pass at a reconsideration request. In the meantime, I have been creating new content, boosting social activity, guest blogging and working with other publishers to generate more natural inbound links. My question is this: knowing that this manual action affects "all," are the new links that I am building being negatively tainted as well? When the penalty is lifted, will they regain their strength? Is there any hope of my rankings improving while the penalty is in effect?

Manual and algorithm ban
Hi guys, what is the difference between a manual penalty in the results and an algorithm? If its algorithm its usually a couple of pages but a manual do you get deindexed or put say 10 pages back? Any advice on how to best determin if a push back in results is manual or algorithm would be great. This will best help me judge how long it will take to get back to where I was with one of my sites once i have cleaned up some of my back-link profile. Thanks.

Do you have to wait after disavowing before submitting a reconsideration request
Hi all We have a link penalty at the moment it seems. I went through 40k links in various phases and have disavowed over a thousand domains that date back to old SEO work. I was barely able to have any links removed as the majority are on directories etc that no one looks after any more etc and / or which are spammy and scraped anyway. According to link research tools link detox tool, we now have a very low risk profile (I loaded the disavowed links into the tool for it to take into consideration when assessing our profile). I then submitted a reconsideration request on the same day as loading the new disavowed file (on the 26th of April). However today (7th May) we got a message in webmaster central that says our link profile is still unnatural. Aaargh. My question: is the disavow file taken into consideration when the reconsideration request is reviewed (ie is that information immediately available to the reviewer)? Or do we have to wait for the disavow file to flow through in the crawl stats? If so, how long do we have to wait? I've checked a link that I disavowed last time and it's still showing up in the links that I pull down from Webmaster Central, and indeed links that I disavowed at the start of April are still showing up in the list of links that can be downloaded. Any help gratefully received. I'm pulling my hair out here, trying to undo the dodgy work of a few random people many months ago! Cheers, Will

Will links still show in WMT after you disavow them?
Does anyone know a definitive answer to this? I'm thinking they will still show up in WMT links to your site? Anyone seen anything different? Thanks,

A product in our website has testimonial, but does not have ratings? Would Google rich snippets include these? Is there an example out there?

I need to add duplicate content, how to do this without penalty
On a site I am working on we provide a landing page summary (say top 10 information snippets) and provide a link 'see more' to take viewers to a page with all the snippets. Now those first 10 snippets will be repeated in the full list. Is this going to be a duplicate content problem? If so, any suggestions.
