Linking Across Subdomains - Any Concerns?
-
I use two subdomains on my website (news.webhostinghero.com and www.webhostinghero.com) - I know www.webhostinghero.com is not really a subdomain...
That said, both subdomains are linking to each other through menus and sometimes articles.
Can this cause any problem? Does Google perceive this as links from different domains / websites?

Hey Stephane,
We were just engaged in a similar quandary yesterday, but a little different circumstance based on whether to use sub-domains or sub-folder and the effects that may occur to our ranks in Google. We came across the follow two articles which may shed light on your current questions.
Older article, but still valid: http://moz.com/blog/understanding-root-domains-subdomains-vs-subfolders-microsites
http://www.whitefireseo.com/site-architecture/subdomain-or-subfolder-post-panda/360/
Shouldn't really cause a problem, but your sub-domain may not benefit in ranks from the strength of your root domain.
Hope this helps, and best of luck.

Does redirecting a duplicate page NOT in Google‘s index pass link juice? (External links not showing in search console)
Hello! We have a powerful page that has been selected by Google as a duplicate page of another page on the site. The duplicate is not indexed by Google, and the referring domains pointing towards that page aren’t recognized by Google in the search console (when looking at the links report). My question is - if we 301 redirect the duplicate page towards the one that Google has selected as canonical, will the link juice be passed to the new page? Thanks!

How many links home on a page?
We are planning on a mega menu which will have around 300 links and a mega slider which will have around 175 links if our developer has their way. In all I could be looking at over 500 links from the home page. The Mega Menu will flatten the site link structure out but I am worried this slider on the home page which is our 4th most visited page behind our 3 core category pages. What are your thoughts?

How And/Or If To Prune Footer Links
Hi, I have a site with a site-wide footer that currently has 28 internal links. The footer terms are the terms the pages are focused on. This footer is on every page of the site (hundreds of pages). Some pages of my site have 10 or so additional links pointing to internal and external pages (besides the footer) and some pages (like the homepage) have about 50 links besides the footer. I'm going for a half dozen new terms with new pages that I would be adding to the site-wide footer. Do you think I should trim the existing footer before adding these new terms? I guess I would remove the terms that show no real hope of ever getting to page one... like pages stuck in the 40s. Or, pages I for whatever reason don't care much if they rank or not. Would trimming it to a smaller number do more to help the remaining linked pages/terms? What do you think? Thanks!
