Facebook Apps
-
Just discovered this site http://northsocial.com/examples/
They charge a few dollars a day to use their Facebook apps. However, I am thinking it will be pretty simple to develop apps like these ourselves.
Also, once the app is created we can use it for all of our social media accounts.
Wanted to get some opinions on the matter.
My questions are:
1. Do apps help generate more likes?
2. Can Apps be promoted?
3. Is it challenging to create a Facebook app?
4. Are Facebook apps worth investment of time?

Hello there,
I will add just some points to the answer above.
Some Facebook apps may create more likes but if you don't promote your app properly and your app is not giving your customers anything valuable I don't think it will help.
I'd look at what level of engagement and activity you have on Facebook to evaluate if it is worth creating it.
Also ask yourself simple questions such: why would customers use this app? What does this app add to their experience? How many times will they use this app? etc.
And yes creating an app takes time and skills, so my suggestion is to evaluate every single aspect before making any decision.
Hope it helps.

My questions are:
1. Do apps help generate more likes?
Not necessarily. Plenty of companies have custom apps that fall flat on their face. Volume is always key. Sure, if you have clients that have visibility, a nicely thought out app will drive more likes. Heck, just using a fan gate alone. A lot of companies have their hat in the ring now, it's about looking at being unique and very usable. Usability is a big part of the equation with building and maintaining apps. For instance, tabbed apps no longer work in mobile.. which may account for a large part of your user base.
2. Can Apps be promoted?
Yes. Are speaking of promoting indirectly or directly? Suggest reading: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/tutorials/mobile-app-ads/
3. Is it challenging to create a Facebook app?
A good one, yes. Don't build it simply to compete, fill a open desire in the marketplace. Maintaining an app is also something to consider. I would firstly assess your budget, then look at what you want the app to do. Talk to potential customers and see if it is something they would actually find a value in.
4. Are Facebook apps worth investment of time?
No crystal ball here

We got 10,000 facebook likes overnight from people in another country. WHY? How do I get rid of them?
Our facebook page http://www.facebook.com/MobileAttic received more than 10,000 likes over night. We only had about 250 likes prior to this. I know this hurts our engagement numbers as well as limits real customers / community from seeing our posts. Is there any way to get our fans down to a real "non-spammed" number?

Friends who like same Facebook page not showing correctly
I have a strange thing going on with my Facebook pages. The "friends who also like this page" is showing wrong numbers, just 1 respectively 5. In reality this number must be much higher. When I saw a profile of someone who coincidentally liked both pages, the numbers of friends who also liked those pages said 30 respectively 48. I remembered that a while ago I changed categories of at least one of those pages. So now I just checked that theory and changed the category of one of those pages back: The 1 went up to 26. When going back to the category I have right now, it's back to 1. Does anyone have an idea of how to fix this, kind of merge those numbers?

How do you guestimate facebook brand searches?
Buongiorno from Weherby Uk 🙂 With brands all clamouring to get a stake in Facebook I wonder how many people actually search for brands on facebook. For example www.evian.com promote their facebook page on their bottles but how could you work out how many searches are entered in the facebook search box for evian as illustrated here:http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc53/zymurgy_bucket/facebook-search-volumes.jpg So my question is please: "How do you work out search volumes for search entries via facebook"? Thanks in advance 🙂

Facebook "like" discrepancy
This is a pretty stupid question sorry, but hopefully it is easy to resolve: Both OSE and Woorank list our site as having 17 Facebook likes. The Facebook icon on the page shows 92 likes. Our Facebook Page shows 560 likes. Where is the 17 number coming from?? our page is: http://www.GoldMaxUSA.com/ Thanks, Jason

Does anyone know of a good place where I can make or have an iframe hosted for a page tab on Facebook?
I just want a simple place that will host an image for the tab. I don't want it to look cheap or tacky (obviously) Any suggestions?

Do facebook shares of deep links help the whole domain rank better?
What i mean by this is if we were to obtain 10-20 facebook shares for 10 different deep links like these: http://domain.com/deep-page/page-one
Social Media | | adriandg
http://domain.com/deep-page/page-two
http://domain.com/deep-page/page-three
http://domain.com/deep-page/page-four
... Would that help any of these rank better:
http://domain.com
http://domain.com/product1
http://domain.com/product2
etc... Extrapolating, does the same count for Twitter, Google+, etc?0
