Rich Snippets - Aggregated Review in Organic Search
-
Hi All,
Let’s say you are a service provider such a Garden Landscaper, and over time your customers have placed reviews on Google Local Places.
As part your sites redesign your looking to implement "Rich Snippets Aggregated Reviews". Your organic natural search results should include the reviews; aggregated star picture, aggregated review value and total reviews.
Question #1 Is this possible?
#2 What is the best way of achieving this via Wordpress as a plugin?
#3 Do you need to file for consideration via Google?Any other useful advice will be appreciated.
Thanks Mark

You should be able to use the Google Places API to include ratings and reviews.
Or you can check out how to Embed Google+ Local Business Reviews On Your Website In 3 Easy Steps - which might be easier than tinkering around with their API.
Hope this helps.

Hi Mike,
Thank you for your response.
I have another related question:
Can you pull the review metrics from Google Local Places in readiness to publish on your website?Thank you in advance
Mark
-
but can't be one that's iframed or scripted from an external source?
-
It doesn't have to be through Google's review system.
Google can pull in reviews from Yelp, Citysearch, Yahoo Local, Bizrate, PriceGrabber, Epinions, etc.
Here is an example of how Google is pulling in reviews for Home Depot.

follow-up question:
Can reviews on our website through a 3rd party review app be used in rich snippets? or does it have to be google reviews?
-
Hi Mark,
To answer your questions:
-
Yes. That said, Google does not guarantee they will even use your rich snippets, "Rich snippets improve the web for everyone, so Google encourages webmasters to mark up their content (or use a Merchant Center product feed) to give us structured information about your data whenever appropriate. While we don't guarantee that we will always use this information, we will check your site for marked-up content when we crawl it."
-
Sorry, I don't know if Wordpress has a plugin; however, you just need to follow Google's Rich Snippet Guidelines.
-
You do not need to file for consideration. You do need to follow Google's Rich Snippet Guidelines and you can use Google's Rich Snippet Troubleshooting Guide if you do not see your snippets appearing.
Hope this helps.

Organic Traffic Drop of 90% After Domain Migration
We moved our domain is http://www.nyc-officespace-leader.com on April 4th. It was migrated to https://www.metro-manhattan.com Google Search Console continues to show about 420of URLs indexed for the old "NYC" domain. This number has not dropped on Search Console. Don't understand why Google has not de-indexed the old site.

For the new "Metro" domain only 114 pages are being shown as valid. Our search volume has dropped from about 85 visits a day to 12 per day. 390 URLs appear as "crawled- currently not indexed". Please note that the migrated content is identical. Nothing at all changed. All re-directs were implemented properly. Also, at the time of the migration we filed a disavow for about 200 spammy links. This disavow file was entered for the old domain and the new one as well. Any ideas as to how to trouble shoot this would be much appreciated!!! This has not been very good for business.0 -

Incorrect URL shown in Google search results
Can anyone offer any advice on how Google might get the url which it displays in search results wrong? It currently appears for all pages as: <cite>www.domainname.com › Register › Login</cite> When the real url is nothing like this. It should be: www.domainname.com/product-type/product-name. This could obviously affect clickthroughs. Google has indexed around 3,000 urls on the site and they are all like this. There are links at the top of the page on the website itself which look like this: Register » Login » which presumably could be affecting it? Thanks in advance for any advice or help!

Organic search traffic dropped 40% - what am I missing?
Have a client (ecommerce site with 1,000+ pages) who recently switched to OpenCart from another cart. Their organic search traffic (from Google, Yahoo, and Bing) dropped roughly 40%. Unfortunately, we weren't involved with the site before, so we can only rely on the wayback machine to compare previous to present. I've checked all the common causes of traffic drops and so far I mostly know what's probably not causing the issue. Any suggestions? Some URLs are the same and the rest 301 redirect (note that many of the pages were 404 until a couple weeks after the switch when the client implemented more 301 redirects) They've got an XML sitemap and are well-indexed. The traffic drops hit pretty much across the site, they are not specific to a few pages. The traffic drops are not specific to any one country or language. Traffic drops hit mobile, tablet, and desktop I've done a full site crawl, only 1 404 page and no other significant issues. Site crawl didn't find any pages blocked by nofollow, no index, robots.txt Canonical URLs are good Site has about 20K pages indexed They have some bad backlinks, but I don't think it's backlink-related because Google, Yahoo, and Bing have all dropped. I'm comparing on-page optimization for select pages before and after, and not finding a lot of differences. It does appear that they implemented Schema.org when they launched the new site. Page load speed is good I feel there must be a pretty basic issue here for Google, Yahoo, and Bing to all drop off, but so far I haven't found it. What am I missing?

Good Morning America Appearance - Search Rankings Down
We had some products on the Steals and Deals segment of Good Morning America. The same day we received a message from Google in Webmaster Tools (below). The message says that search result clicks have increased significantly. It seems like this was almost a warning that they were not sure this was valid. The promotion included a link from the good morning america site on yahoo to a subdomain on our site. The rankings have fallen a good little bit since and in Webmaster tools, there are no links to our site listed and no internal links and no content keywords for the site. Is this is a temporary freeze on our site until they figure out if this is manipulative? I would have thought a link from Good Morning America would be great for SEO. Search results clicks for http://www.justjen.com/ have increased significantly. This message is not indicative of any problem in your site. It is simply to inform you that the number of clicks that one of your pages receives has increased recently. If you have just added new content, this may indicate that it has become more popular on Google. The number of clicks that your site receives from Google can change from day to day for a variety of factors, including automatic algorithm updates.

Suggestions for a SEO Review
I think it would be beneficial to have a third party seo review of the network of sites my team and I manage and was wondering if any of you had suggestions for what sort of tests should be done or that we should expect to see done during one of these reviews. We are a small team who has varying seo experience and have been working hard to make improvements to our sites in the past year. Most of our sites have been completely overhauled in the last 12-16 months and seo work that had not been done in the past has been setup, along with some corrections that may have been harming seo. We believe we are on the right track and have learned a good amount about seo in that time, but it would be nice to have some "expert" feedback outside of our office to get a clearer picture on anything we may be missing or some suggested improvements. A sort of double check on the work we have done.

Location appearing on search result. how can this be achieved?
I'm pretty sure this site is not doing any SEO but i think what made them no. 1 is the location. I already tried adding a google publisher tag to my site that points to my google page which contains my address but i still can't have the location appear.. here's a screenshot of the search result that i want to achieve: https://www.dropbox.com/s/tbdv3121rrs6zp5/Screen Shot 2013-04-15 at 9.39.30 AM.png Screen%20Shot%202013-04-15%20at%209.39.30%20AM.png

Should product searches (on site searches) be noindex?
We have a large new site that is suffering from a sitewide panda like penalty. The site has 200k pages indexed by Google. Lots of category and sub category page content and about 25% of the product pages have unique content hand written (vs the other pages using copied content). So it seems our site is labeled as thin. I'm wondering about using noindex paramaters for the internal site search. We have a canonical tag on search results pointing to domain.com/search/ (client thought that would help) but I'm wondering if we need to just no index all the product search results. Thoughts?
